Does anyone have good scans of this poster series drawn by Ikuko Itoh? There are Sailormoon, Uranus x Neptune, Pluto x Chibi Moon as well!

Not sure if it has been talked before, do you notice the hand movements of these attacks are different? Well, Mercury and Venus have the identical movement, but Mars and Jupiter are different from them! The movements may be too fast to catch, slowing them down is easier to examine. What a subtle great thing drawn by Ikuko Itoh!

Most of my friends complains the new style being too skinny and ugly. Okay so here I make some adjustment. For the first frame, I just make the hair smaller. Second one, the new faces in profile are ridiculously done, so I have to reshape them to make them look right again. For the last one, I make the hair smaller and modify the anatomy of the left hand and arm abit. I think they look better now. Sorry for being anal about the new art, it is quite not up to the 2014 animation standard in my opinion.

Animator should know there is a pause function in video player. People can spot every ugly frame. This frame is... ridiculous, who approved this frame (this is just one of the bad frames actually)? After watching the first episode of Sailormoon Crystal, it looks like a low budget and rush production. Ironically, more people are involved in the drawing than the 90s version.

A friend of mine did some screen captures from the Crystal Trailer. See how bad the draw is! Everything is off model, the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the hair! Usually a trailer shows the best of the animation. Now you can see how 'good' the new art can be. If you still think the new art beats the 90s animation. You seriously have problem!

  Even though I have so much hate about the new art, I still support Sailormoon and will watch the new show. The more I complain, the more I care about its quality.

As an artist and devoted Sailormoon fan, I personally think the art in Episode 124 & 125 are at its peak (both TV and Manga, minus the Movies though). Those features are detailed and awesome! Under the art direction of Ikuko Itoh, all the best artists (including Hisashi Kagawa) join together to deliver the best best best Sailormoon art ever!

Official Trailer of the new Sailormoon series!!!! Yeah!!! I'm excited even though the new style is very ugly - badly-proportioned features, ugly legs and make-no-sense anatomy. The new theme song is bad as well! But hearing Usagi's old voice has brought back so many memories!!!!

Why does the new design look so horrible?! They ain't even close to the manga. Even the ugliest original episodes look better than this. Maybe they don't have budget to hire some good artist?! SO DISAPPOINTED!

I love Ikuko Itoh’s art but this one is funny. Can you spot the error? Yes, Neptune’s left arm is hilarious. Maybe some people can put their arms up like that, at least I can’t. And Uranus’ lips are pretty strong! It would look better if she holds the sword in her hand.

So we moonies have got the glimpse of the new animation art, I am honestly pretty upset about it. Following the manga style is nothing wrong but this art just didn't wow me. First, the hair is messy. Second, the anatomy is not quite right. I hope the animation will do better than this. I still think Hisashi Kagawa and Ikuko Itoh are the masters of drawing Sailormoon.

Let's continue with the eyes of the rest senshi.

1. Chibimoon does not inherit her mother's corneas, she gets a few more triangles and no circle at the bottom instead.

2. For the outer senshi (Uranus, Neptune & Pluto), their eyes are smaller than the inner senshi to reflect their senior age. Their upper eyelids vary too! Uranus' are angled upwards and Neptune's are rounded, it gives a feeling that Uranus is a more tough person while Neptune is more tender. The reflection on their corneas are the same though, which makes them a great couple! I think it is a clever design by Ikuko Itoh! 3. Saturn's eyes are smaller as well. Her corneas are very unique, while other senshi's big white circle reflections are at the centre, hers are at the top right! So most of her corneas are in deep purple with lighter purple at the bottom. With her pale skin due to health condition, it makes her looks weaker and mysterious.

4. Pluto is a darker skin lady with red lips, this makes her the most mature senshi of the solar system.

People don't pay attention to arts probably think all Senshi look the same with different hair style only. THEY ARE WRONG! Let's take a look at the character design by Kazuko Tadano for the inner senshi.

1. Moon, Jupiter and Venus have the same rounded upper eyelids. But Mercury and Mars are different! Mercury's ones are more square than others while Mars' are angled upwards, which match her bossy personality in the TV series alot (no offense, she's my most favourite senshi!)

2. The white reflection on their corneas varies as well. Moon and Venus are pretty similar but Moon has 2 triangles while Venus just gets one. There is lighter blue at the bottom part of Mercury's eyes, which is a unique design among them.

3. When Jupiter gets angry, she gets that signature facial expression that other inner senshi won't do. (I believe it's designed by Hisashi Kagawa)

4. In case you don't know, Moon and Venus have different yellow hair.

So next time if your friends complain about the characters, tell them the differences to keep their motherfxxker mouths shut!
