So, yesterday was such a blur. I went with my friend to see Ayumi Hamasaki LIVE! I remember listening to her when I was younger, so I hopped on this opportunity like a fly on poopoo. To begin, we drove a few hours to the venue. We passed by the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen. The leaves were bright red, orange, and yellow. There were rolling hills and a tall snow covered mountain in the distance. We saw rivers, lakes, and even some waterfalls.
When we arrived in the city, we of course found a Starbucks so we could try the new Strawberry Christmas Cake drink. It was like strawberry milk on steroids.
Finally, we arrived at the venue and saw other Ayu fans. So let me do a quick introduction for those of you not familiar with Ayumi Hamasaki. She has been a singer for as long as I can remember. She is now 40 years old, but still looks 20 and beautiful. Due to an illness, she is going deaf; completely deaf in one ear and quickly going deaf in the other. But she refuses to retire. The wonderful man pictured above is Timmy, her fabulous backup singer. He struts around in stiletto heels like it’s nothing. I’m forever jealous. The concert itself was full of energy and people chanting, “Ayu! Ayu! Ayu!”. She had 4 encores. That’s right, FOUR. They would say their thank you’s and the curtain would close, but then suddenly it would reopen and they would be in different outfits, dancing around to the pumping music. Ah, it was amazing!
To end the night, I bought a long, plaid hoodie that says “TROUBLE” down the back. Because, ya know, I’m trouble. And that’s the name of her album.
So this has been my TED talk on Ayumi Hamasaki, thanks for listening.
