When a neighbour complained about his dog he calmly took it to the yard and shot it and killed it and calmly said I believe in paying back my debts both good and bad

He would point guns at dogs just to see them cower

There was a incident where he and his wife with others were moving a bed up a narrow stairwell and it got caught up amd he got so angry he started shouting at his wife and calling her things and then left so neighbours would have to help her

There's something really special about a traditional choir with just boys and men, because when you see them all in their robes, and especially if the men are clean shaven, you see what looks like an unbroken continuum, the boys don't look like "children" they look exactly the same and as dignified as the men, just little tiny versions of them. You see what looks ultimately like just a single person surrounded by his own self at various stages of his life. You don't get that with mixed choirs or regular children's choirs.

There's something special about the graduation aspect of it too, where all the men were once sopranos and altos, and all the current sopranos and altos will soon be tenors and basses, and new sopranos and altos will be born this year and will join 6 years from now, and all of them have been in it together and all come from musical families and all grew up in the same choral schools. It really is beautiful when you think about it.

But these choirs are a dying breed. Every year you hear a new story of a historic 400 year old choir getting shut down and replaced by a mixed choir. I knew the director at Trinity on Wall Street, one of the only real good men and boy's choirs in America, and he resigned after the church vestry forced the choir to accept women and girls.
