Adventures in Progress: Epoch of Broken Faith
Episode 2: The Light is Extinguished
22nd of Sagemoon
In the morning we come across a shipwreck. With mine and Kyldreth's help we retrieve a chest from among the wreckage. We were too late to save the man we found with it.
Inside the chest are a few items including the captain's log book and a quill. Iloryna inspects the quill which turns out to be magical and can conceal what is actually written. The log book has a crocodile sigil on it and reveals that the wreckage belonged to the The Dusk. Reading this makes the Captain nervous, but no one is telling us anything. Adhara 'overhears' some of the crew talking about possible pirates. Apparently, when they contacted the port we are headed to, they were told not a single ship has arrived in five days. That afternoon Iloryna helps Gambrose compose a poem for Miriella. Which I find endearing if a bit sappy. That evening we have dinner with the captian who confirms what Adhara told us. He's had a run in with pirates from Shallow Swept, also known as the Pirate Isles. He tangled with an ice genasi named Chillwind. The crew was called the Harpers and were lead by Fenic Harper. I wake later that night to find that we are under attack. Iloryna is still asleep, so I quickly make her invisible before opening the door to our quarters. It is a tense battle with some unfamiliar fish-like creatures. I'm quickly over matched. We barely make it to the lifeboats as the boat is swarmed. A wyrmling sinks the ship and then goes after one of the lifeboats. We lose Gamroz and Momma.

We spend a rough night in the lifeboats. Early that morning, as the sun is rising we are approached by a handsome Triton who introduces himself as Tarc Yarmen of the Tidekeepers. He helps us to a small village called Muzzanmi. He informs us that there was a unusual earthquake 3-4 weeks ago and a lot of things have changed since. Along with the creatures attacking an ship coming or going there is something in the woods killing people too. He takes us to the Azurite Inn where we meet the newly widowed Inkeeper and her son. Emshay Unanth has an idea to get us off the island by building a flying ship. He thinks the island might have been visited by the Unseelie. To make the ship he saw sky worthy we will need to gather multiple items from around the island. Kyldreth would like us to stay together to do this and we agree.

My Lady Iloryna,
Firstly, I wish to apologize for my pitiful performance in the face of our enemies. I had not realized how much power I had lost after my rebirth, if you will. I overstepped and I will not make that mistake again. I am willing to take any discipline you feel is appropriate for my failures.
I also wished to inform you that while I do not trust them completely, I feel that Adhara and Kherill could be hired as additional protection. I don’t think we’d have to spend much to entice them. Adhara in particular would likely be very easily convinced. Kyldreth remains a bit of an unknown, though I will do my best to access his true intentions.
I am not sure of the tasks we’ve been given. Though I understand that if we wish to continue forward, we will have to work with those fate has put us with.
Your servant,
Serapion
