Meet Serapion, The Saint of Shadows
[Image Description Begin: AI generated image of a slim young-looking dusty purple skinned male drow. In the foreground, there is a close up of him behind a tree while there is a 3 quarter view of him in the background. He has white hair that is tied up in a queue and trails over his left shoulder nearly to his waist. He is standing looking off to the right, bright violet eyes visible behind a pair of silver round framed glasses with purple tinted lenses. A cream colored silk cravat is neatly tied at his neck. He's wearing a dull brown waist coat over a reddish purple corset and silk shirt. His right hand is tucked into his trouser's pocket while his left is at his side. At his waist are two daggers along with a pouch and a vial of some purple liquid. Tan trousers are tucked into boots. He exudes an air of mystery and elegance but also approachability. The Backstory:
Serapion died 189 years ago trying to protect the kingdom of Quivian and its Queen Miribella from an unknown enemy. He was resurrected 3-4 months ago, in-game time, by a group calling themselves The Healers of Azura. He escaped them and took off across the continent of Lintherym via the Underdark. He resurfaced in a place called Ambersfall and headed south into Denethon. He happened to run into a young wizard named Iloryna 'Ryn' and he quickly recognized her as being quite talented. Thinking her to be royalty due to her dress and mannerisms, he offered his services to her, which she accepted. They've been traveling together since.
They traveled to Solnarum Citadel, a huge city on the eastern coast of Lintherym that had once been the seat of magical learning. While it's influence has waned ever since the beginning of the Epoch of Broken Faith 20 years prior it is still an important place. Serapion's goal was to try and put as much distance between himself and the Healers as possible. However, they were quickly tracked down and decided to board a ship headed further east. Serapion wants to understand more about why he was resurrected by the group before he submits to their demands.

Adventures in Progress: Epoch of Broken Faith
Session 1: Fair Winds and Fine Friends
20th of Sagemoon Day 2 at sea
I am very sea sick and has been for days. I finally spoke to Kyldreth who gave me some advice and recommended tea. Iloryna and I go to the galley to get tea. Mirella, 'Momma,' a pink skinned tiefling, is the ships cook and offers to make Ryn and I some. She pours a few drops of a special decoction into the tea. However, I won't let Ryn drink anything until I inspect it, offending pretty much everyone in the room. Ryn tries to make excuses for me, by saying she has allergies. Later when we are alone in our quarters Ryn explains the issue and how my actions might have come across. I concede that many things have likely changed in the intervening years. I decide to go apologize to Momma. Another ship shows up and offers a race for a wager. Adhara wins the race even though the other boat captain was trying to magically influence things. Adhara shows a complete lack of understanding when it come to gold and money in general.

Calm seas and good weather.

Adhara goes to investigate the strange noise she's been hearing. The noise that "touches" her by sending tingles up her back. It leads her to the lower hold and a loose board. She calls out and a voice answers her. She finds an older Kos Veratti elf in a makeshift workshop. He's trying to make an arcane battery using leylines. He wants to create 'manmade magic.' Rainy weather and the discovery of spoiled food due to a leak. I go find Emshay Unanth and inspect the battery, then spend time watching him work. Adhara talks to Mink and learns she is investigating reports of blightrot in Algan. She is looking for Calum Wavesong who is supposed to be an expert on blightrot and old flora/fauna. Mink was infected with demon blood by the Brotherhood which took her hearing and changed her. The ship encounters a whirlpool. Lyrell casts dispell magic to close the rift to the elemental plane of water.
Serapion's Letter to Iloryna
Sagemoon 20 Lady Iloryna, I hope you don’t mind me putting a few things into writing. I used to do this for my previous Ladies. I hope you find benefit in it as well. I am not meaning to overstep my station, but if I may, I would like to help you continue to learn and grow as a woman of station and as a skilled user of the arcane. Below I have a list of spell components that I recommend always having on hand for those useful cantrips and spells. I also have written out a few spells for you to practice in your spare time. I hope you find them useful. Simple Spell components: -salt -fleece -soot

Adventures in Progress: Epoch of Broken Faith
Episode 2: The Light is Extinguished
22nd of Sagemoon
In the morning we come across a shipwreck. With mine and Kyldreth's help we retrieve a chest from among the wreckage. We were too late to save the man we found with it.
Inside the chest are a few items including the captain's log book and a quill. Iloryna inspects the quill which turns out to be magical and can conceal what is actually written. The log book has a crocodile sigil on it and reveals that the wreckage belonged to the The Dusk. Reading this makes the Captain nervous, but no one is telling us anything. Adhara 'overhears' some of the crew talking about possible pirates. Apparently, when they contacted the port we are headed to, they were told not a single ship has arrived in five days. That afternoon Iloryna helps Gambrose compose a poem for Miriella. Which I find endearing if a bit sappy. That evening we have dinner with the captian who confirms what Adhara told us. He's had a run in with pirates from Shallow Swept, also known as the Pirate Isles. He tangled with an ice genasi named Chillwind. The crew was called the Harpers and were lead by Fenic Harper. I wake later that night to find that we are under attack. Iloryna is still asleep, so I quickly make her invisible before opening the door to our quarters. It is a tense battle with some unfamiliar fish-like creatures. I'm quickly over matched. We barely make it to the lifeboats as the boat is swarmed. A wyrmling sinks the ship and then goes after one of the lifeboats. We lose Gamroz and Momma.
Sagemoon 23
We spend a rough night in the lifeboats. Early that morning, as the sun is rising we are approached by a handsome Triton who introduces himself as Tarc Yarmen of the Tidekeepers. He helps us to a small village called Muzzanmi. He informs us that there was a unusual earthquake 3-4 weeks ago and a lot of things have changed since. Along with the creatures attacking an ship coming or going there is something in the woods killing people too. He takes us to the Azurite Inn where we meet the newly widowed Inkeeper and her son. Emshay Unanth has an idea to get us off the island by building a flying ship. He thinks the island might have been visited by the Unseelie. To make the ship he saw sky worthy we will need to gather multiple items from around the island. Kyldreth would like us to stay together to do this and we agree.
Sagemoon 26
My Lady Iloryna,
Firstly, I wish to apologize for my pitiful performance in the face of our enemies. I had not realized how much power I had lost after my rebirth, if you will. I overstepped and I will not make that mistake again. I am willing to take any discipline you feel is appropriate for my failures.
I also wished to inform you that while I do not trust them completely, I feel that Adhara and Kherill could be hired as additional protection. I don’t think we’d have to spend much to entice them. Adhara in particular would likely be very easily convinced. Kyldreth remains a bit of an unknown, though I will do my best to access his true intentions.
I am not sure of the tasks we’ve been given. Though I understand that if we wish to continue forward, we will have to work with those fate has put us with.
Your servant,
Serapion
