my partner’s new puppy has been sick for a long time and while the people they got him from said his kennel cough was gone, he now has pneumonia i dont know the exact details so i dont want to say too much but heres what they wrote on their facebook about it (here)

Tomorrow will be marking three weeks since we got him, but since yesterday afternoon he has been on the intensive care unit at the emergency and specialty center. He woke me up crying at two in the morning Wednesday night, and my mom and I stayed up with him for the rest of the night, bringing him to vet as soon as they opened. Hours and x-rays later we got a call saying he needed to be transferred to the specialty center. His x-rays showed that he had severe pneumonia, one lung completely filled with fluid, the other starting to fill. His breathing capacity was much lower than what it was supposed to be. That’s not all, though. They also found that my little guy has a hernia on his diaphragm which needs surgery. Well, his breathing is no where good enough to handle anesthesia and surgery, so we need to fix the pneumonia first, which may take months. He is on an iv right now to keep hos blood sugar up and oxygen which is $1000 a day, something we can’t afford, s we’re bringing him home later today to continue treatment here on our own. To keep an eye on the pneumonia, he will need weekly x-rays. X-rays are expensive, about $125 each time, but that adds up after the weeks. But then we can’t forget the $3500 surgery on his diaphragmatic hernia. We don’t have this kind of money, but we can’t give up on Henry’s life before he’s had a chance to live it.

any donation would be much appreciated, since they and their mother cant afford the medical bills henry needs to survive my partner is also doing commissions, and ill just quote that information here in case you want one

I will draw whatever you want for any price you’re willing to pay and will do it in pencil, ink, marker (artist markers like copic and prismacolor, so it’s even and not scratchy like it would be with something like crayola), and water color. I can also make 1 inch buttons and laminated keychains and can mail anything to you and accept cash and checks through the mail. Of course this can all be done in person instead if you’re nearby.

from what i understand, the vets have both raised the price for henrys surgery to $4500 (correct me if im wrong) and have asked them to consider euthanasia. both his lungs are now filled with fluid and he’s steadily getting worse. please, please spread this like wildfire. we’re all desperate at this point. i don’t want to see their family go through this again and i certainly dont want henry to lose his chance at life. hes such a wonderful dog.

13 yr old disabled bearded dragon for adoption

Reluctantly I post this, not really expecting anyone to take me up on it. But I am not financially stable enough to care for a special needs animal, much less a special needs exotic, so I have to try for the sake of my pet’s quality of life.

Spyro is a roughly 13 year old bearded dragon with MBD, muscle weakness, and a possible neurological problem (trouble walking and righting herself). She lives in the Richmond, Virginia area and is up for adoption to anyone who can prove to me that they have the education to care for her special needs. Pick up only, as I don’t know if she could handle shipping stress. She does not come with housing or supplies. 

I am currently aware of a possibly serious health issue that needs to be addressed if adopted before I can take her to the vet myself- most urgent is a pea-sized growth on her back near her left shoulder blade. 

I will be asking you questions to satisfy my own nerves, as I want her to go to a good, permanent home for the rest of her life. I’ll provide her new parent with her health history and information on her special care. I want to still be involved in her life, so sending pics and exchanging contact information is required.

Spyro has been a very important part of my life since I was 10 years old (I am 22 now). My miseducation on her care at such a young age likely resulted in her current disabilities, and unfortunately life has become too overwhelming for me to afford her vet visits. Rehoming her is not something I want to do, but It’s not fair to her when I can’t provide a quality life.

Please help me find a comfortable home for the remaining years of this senior dragon’s life.
