Salem Summer Dorm Party - Rudnick Hall

Nostalgic for 90s? Rudnick Hall has the party for you. They are hosting raves every night from sundown to sunup. Body paint will be provided and black lights have been strung up all along the hallway. In the lounge area there will be DJs every night playing your favorite rave tunes. What is your nymphs essence and how is it used? Metal. Zoey is able to manipulate metal to her will. Although unable to control electricity directly, she does have a small amount of control over electricity that is being conducted through metal. Her control over electricity and also in metal fluctuates.

Biography

Zoey does not have much of a childhood, since she appeared in the world as a twenty two year adult, many years ago. Things being as such, she was left to fend for herself in the world.

Over the years she saw many changes in the world, some that she liked and some that she found did not sit right with her.

Throughout her life, Zoey has felt that it is her duty to stand up for what she feels is right, and has been known to attend many protests mostly concerning the rights of humans and occasionally animals. She also has been very free spirited, easily persuaded into things such as parties, drugs and alcohol but always wondering if wrong in the aftermath. Zoey has always been one to do now and think later.

Fortunately for Zoey she found as the world developed mundanes were building more metal objects into their lives, meaning that her powers should have thrived.

However, her control over her element did not grow. If anything it weakened, only working when it wanted to.

Eventually Zoey decided that she must enrol at Salem College, a place where she was sure that she could be taught to improve her control over the element from which she was created. Physically 22, Zoey lied about her actual age on her application, ashamed that she did not have control over her element at her age. She was sure she probably had been around for longer than some of the professors that taught her, though she still treated them all with the respect that she deserved.

Zoey is currently studying at Salem College, whilst studying for a degree in English Literature at Salem State.

Biography

For her entire life, Reagan is, and always will be, an exception. As the eldest child of Briana and Jeremy Zubkova, two blonde humans with blue eyes, it was easy to expect that she would also have blonde hair and blue eyes, the human part wasn’t supposed to be an option. Then again, nothing in life is an option, you’re dealt a certain hand and you’re supposed to do what you can with said hand, regardless of how others want you to play the game of life. However, being born in the large, bustling commune of Nantes, France, it was easy for Reagan to hide in plain sight, to get through life without attracting too much unnecessary attention. Things were normal for the french girl, until her first shift came. She doesn’t know what triggered the gene, maybe it was that visit with her uncle Tristan in America, a man she’s always felt more of a connection with than her own parents. Maybe it was the large family reunion her mother’s family held that only she went to. Maybe it was nothing, maybe this gene was just lying in wait for the perfect moment to ruin her life. Whatever triggered Reagan’s genes, she wasn’t prepared for.

Thankfully, her first shift on a full moon was during a visit with her uncle Tristan, a man who didn’t tell her about his suspicions until after the full moon. Tristan was a were, strangely enough he was a were-tiger, but he was still very supportive and helpful after finding out that his niece was a were-coyote. Possibly more supportive than her own family. Regardless, she wasn’t completely in the dark. Tristan was able to explain to her that his sister, Briana, Reagan’s mother, was not a were like himself or their parents. Briana was aware of what her family was, but she didn’t suspect the gene to pass onto her daughter, so he didn’t mention it to her husband or children. In fact, Tristan believed that his sister saw being human as a great relief. Briana didn’t want to be a were-creature, seeing them as freaks of nature, hence why she never contacted them after getting married or having children of her own.

Finding out that her daughter was a were, just like the rest of her family, was a disaster for Briana. She’d been hoping to escape that nightmare, not dive headfirst into it. In her mind, if she ignored her supernatural family, she’d never have to worry about the supernatural again. To her dismay, this belief was wrong. After finding out that her daughter had the genes of a monster, Briana attempted to isolate Reagan from the rest of her family, hoping that maybe the were-gene would just disappear. Once again, Briana was wrong. Ignoring the gene, leaving Reagan without a teacher to help her control the urges and instincts of her inner animal was the opposite of the right thing to do. Only a few days from full moon, Reagan snapped. Her younger brother had been annoying her, nothing out of the ordinary for siblings, but instead of just yelling at him and slamming the door, Reagan shifted. She shifted into her full coyote form and attacked her brother. Her brother was in the hospital for weeks, jabbering on and on about how cool it was that his sister was a creature, that it was amazing. Briana, however, did not feel the same.

Briana immediately sent Reagan to live with Tristan in America, throwing away anything that Reagan couldn’t take with her, wanting nothing to do with her daughter. Jeremy attempted to calm his wife, but Reagan felt entirely responsible for what happened and let it happen. Reagan moved to America without much of a fight, actually somewhat excited to be with someone of her own kind. While Tristan was, as usual, very supportive and loving, he wanted Reagan to be able to see all the supernatural world had to offer. With her good grades and Tristan’s connections, she was able to get into Salem college. She lives on campus now, visiting her uncle as often as she can and calling her father every friday, but also focusing on her studies. She’s excited to meet other supernatural creatures.

For Selkies, does the size of the animal they transform into affect the size of their pelt? Are the pelts like a full on animal pelt? If a selkie was able to transform into an orca, would they have to lug around a full-grown orca's pelt?

The pelts are supernatural, so they are the size of a someone wearing a jacket. We want to make sure our selkies can transform if they want to, and it doesn’t make sense for them to lug an orca sized pelt down to the ocean. I hope that helps!

Could we add powers or something to our characters as long as they don't contradict stuff that's already been stated in the species page, they aren't god-moddy, and it's something mentioned in other lore?

Yes, I think that’s fine. What would be best is before you work too much on an app like that to message us on tumblr IM to go over your idea and make sure it works for the RP.

Hi, just a quick question about nymphs: Once they are 'born' do they age, or stay the age they are born at?

Nymphs do not age the way other supernaturals do. They can still die from injury or disease, but they do not have a natural aging process.

Salem Summer Dorm Party - Thorn Hall & Bryce House

Star Harbor may have been the first to set up, but Bryce house boasts what they claim is the best summer party. They have a giant screen set up on the outside wall of the dorm and are projecting movies every night. The selection contains new releases and old favorites. In addition to that during the day the sidewalk is set up with several booths of magical confections. For Harry Potter fans there are actual chocolate frogs, pretzel sparklers that actually shoot small fireworks, and hard candies that make your voice sound like it’s on helium These are only some of the things being sold. All proceeds go towards the school’s foundation.

Over at Thorn Hall the entire basement has been decked out in Greek themed decor for a nightly toga party. Except for the night of the full moon, every night during the festivities the party is happening in the basement. Party goes may wear a sheet, towel, or drape, but no actual clothing allowed.
