Yo, I am back baybeeeee.
Got mauled again by the bipolar bear, but I'm back on my feet and writing some Mystrade. oooOOOOOoooo. I'll prolly draw accompanying fanart this weekend, so stay tuned for that I suppose.
Flying by the seat of my trousers for once, but so far it's looking like Mycroft fighting inner battles with greed, desire and body image TM, while helping Greg solve the historic murder/disappearance of his French mother. Mutual unrequited love, mutual inner healing, slow burn, you know how it goes.
A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, “My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?” The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, “We can’t tell you. You’re not a monk.” The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery. The monks accept him, feed him, even fix his car. That night, he hears the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier. The next morning, he asks what it is, but the monks reply, “We can’t tell you. You’re not a monk.” The man says, “All right, all right. I’m *dying* to know. If the only way I can find out what that sound was is to become a monk, how do I become a monk?” The monks reply, “You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk.” The man sets about his task. Forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, “I have traveled the earth and have found what you have asked for. There are 145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth.” The monks reply, “Congratulations. You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound.” The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, “The sound is right behind that door.” The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He says, “Real funny. May I have the key?” The monks give him the key, and he opens the door. Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man demands the key to the stone door. The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire. So it went until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst. Finally, the monks say, “This is the last key to the last door.” The man is relieved to no end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is amazed to find the source of that strange sound. But I can’t tell you what it is because you’re not a monk

the way i learned this, it was always told through spoken word. And you’d do the door thing for ages. AGES. literally just making up any old material. ‘behind the foam door is a door made of spinach’ that kind of shit. Go on until whoever is listening has already begged you to stop and has now gone on to pleading, clutching your shirt on their knees pleading. And when you finally said the last line? People went fucking nuts Like there was a good chance of just getting the teeth knocked out of you after telling that joke.
A friend of mine did that shit for 30 minutes on a camp once. The entire fucking bus just exploded in anger when she finished. It was a fucking massacre.
writing is so silly because you have to maintain the understanding that you're not more specialer than anyone else and your work needs improvement and you have more to learn. but also you have to fully believe that your stuff is amazing. mindblowing. masterpiece the likes of which no one has ever seen before. you really have to hold these contradictory beliefs next to each other and force them to play nice. it's like shoving your shoulder angel and devil into a "get-along shirt." It doesn't make any sense. But if you don't, you're not going to get anywhere
You have to pursue what your writing Could Be with dogged determination while unflinchingly perceiving what it Actually Is. You have to accept that you're not more deserving or likely to succeed than any other writer, but you also have to love and honor and cling to your own specific mad genius because no one else is going to do it for you. Writing is really hard and it's also really worth it.

Suketh being technically the longest running companion is so funny at first, but then you see the metaphor that only death is his faithful companion and you cry
I exclusively draw Father Ardelian with this facial expression, which I like to call “trying really hard not to think about sin”.
Father Ardelian: oh nooo you killed me, ohhh I am dead among the roses. Sure hope that doesn’t remind you of a fairy tale haha Lord Vane amirite, gosh I feel so sleepy haha maybe it’s a curse, how even do you wake people up from sleeping curses among the roses on this altar that you killed me on after letting me talk about my special interest for 2 hours…

Sorry if already been done, but I am collapsing inside my brain making up connections between everythinggg.
I think Rogue is an Osirian / descendant of the Osirians? His ship is the most Egyptian thing I ever saw in my life, looks like a falcon - reminiscent of Horus, who I think in the Whoniverse is some hybrid rebirth of Osiris, who competed with Sukhet for leadership of their people? I didn’t read/listen/watch the thing that came from. I remember thinking at the time “that is one Egyptian looking ship, wonder who he nicked it from.”
And the ship is WAITING in orbit around the moon rn. The one who waits - not he/she who waits, but ‘the one’… not a person, but a ship?!
And Mrs Flood! The flooding of the Nile was associated with rebirth, rejuvenation, life… and is made from the tears of Isis, mother of Horus… because she’s so sad about Osiris (Horus’ dad) being killed by Set, aka Sutekh. The coming of the flood is kinda the harbinger for Osiris, representing his restoration?? I think?? So Mrs Flood is the Harbinger of life/rebirth? Isis is the goddess of life and rebirth, so the perfect poetic answer to Sutekh.
Spanner in the works: I still love the Iris Wildthyme theory, because the 4th wall breaking is just so extreme I don’t see who else it could be. Would it be mad to suggest Isis Wildthyme?? Iris was never a Time Lord, but a regenerating Osirian Isis?? Also side note but why is she so evil-coded in the Legend of Ruby Sunday?? “We’d all like a lot of things that aren’t going to happen??” Ok mate. She only asked for a cuppa, you bellend. (yes, denial of tea is a strictly evil character trait, don’t argue with me on this one.)
Also, why was Rogue so confident he could survive long enough for the Doctor to find him in an unknown dimension? - because he’s Osirian or part Osirian, and has a loooonnnnng life, just like our timelord pal. Or, he is Isis, reborn a bunch o’ times and gender swapped in this regeneration. Or he was the companion of an Osirian Horus/Iris doctor-type character, who was lost… (Am I putting bets on everything, all at the same time? Yes. Yes I am. Can’t believe the Sutekh Truthers were right. I wanna be right one time pls.)
And why give the ring? Similarity to Horus giving Ankh to the Pharaoh - for protection. Or because he knows his Horus ship can find him, activated by the ring? inb4 Doccyboye has to find Rogue to defeat Sutekh with the power of love life.
While we’re on the ring, wtf is the symbol on it? I saw someone calling it a dagger because of Rogue, but it doesn’t look like a dagger to me. I tried isolating shapes, looks kinda like a bird with sun disk type thing on top? Or ropes, a knot? Lots of potential for Egyptian symbolism, maybe relating to Isis, Horus or Wadjet? An amulet of protection for the Doctor?
Thank you for coming to my TEDrant.
Deeply fucked up that this game (real life) forces you to play a crafting mini-game (cooking) every time you want to replenish your stamina bar.
You can skip the crafting game by using a pre-made consumable if you have them on hand, but high level players will constantly nag you about it and tell you that it damages your character's stats in the long run.
Way worse is that you have an unskippable cut scene after the crafting mini game, every time, called "doing the dishes." You can avoid it for a while by exiting the kitchen but the longer you wait the longer the cutscene is.
haven't seen many people worried about rogue being trapped in some barren dimension with 5 very angry chuldur yet, but i thought i'd put my thoughts out there anyways.
rogue has absolutely convinced them all not to kill him in exchange for him creating stories and drama for them. rogue is now dungeon master for the chuldur family, and is stuck dming the longest, most chaotic dnd session ever played, while he waits for the doctor to find him.
they're very excitable and he's currently trying to convince them that the rules actually make the game more fun, and no, you can't just switch out your player character to play my dm npc instead, that ruins the stakes.
LEGEND OF RUBY SUNDAY SPOILERS!
So Sutekh is back? The guy from the Pyramid of Mars? The episode with the funniest five seconds in all of Doctor Who?
Unapologetic meme post.

What Manner of Man Chapter 7.
A terrible, terrible nightmare - Jupiter and Io edition. Always wondered what happens in confessionals, guess I know now. If I wasn’t already going to hell for reading What Manner of Man, I’m going for this. See you lot there!
MR JONATHAN GROFF 🥰🥵😍
That was pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen. I bloody love this show!
Please don’t let Rogue be The One Who Waits! 🙀
Ok but fr is Rogue the One Who Waits? Because I can see him going to a dimension of untold horror and making a dnd campaign with his new god-friends and then sending them to flirt with the doctor. It’s not a tv show, it’s a dnd campaign and the Doctor knows when the DM changes the background music. Idk what the Toymaker is, but Maestro’s the bard.
Ignore me, I don’t know what I’m saying, but what if, you know? WHAT IF?! And his final showdown against Rogue is going to involve a D20 and someone’s going to roll a nat 1, oh no! but wait, they have advantage! A la Men in Tights, he gets another shot! Nat 20.
Quick, someone slap me.
