Thank you :) So: My parents and my brother have really strong opinions about people (for example: if there's a talent show on tv, they constantly comment about how ugly, etc. the contenders are). I don't agree with them at all, because they say hurtful things, which frankly used to make me feel like I had to live up to some kind of ideal. I've now (mostly) come to terms with my own opinions on the matter, but do you think it's useful to talk to them about this? Or should I just tune them out?

that's completely up to you and how comfortable and confident you feel within your wording !! 

i'm so sorry, my family often say similar things. it's easier to confront individuals than them all together, which you may feel better doing. it's hard to do it ;; but if it makes you uncomfortable, if it hurts your and you know leaving it may perpetuate it further, call it out

but (and i know this with some of my family members) sometimes word mean little to nothing to people who chose to remain ignorant to their problematic behaviour.
