On Top of the World
From my high up, mountaintop,
Fields of green sprawl wide.
Flowers grow where I don't know,
Their petals seem to hide.
.
And the clouds surround me, dazzling,
Playing light like music notes.
The reach of friends and family,
The dream of lonely mountain goats.
.
I've reached the top of the world...
There's no beauty left to be found.
I've reached the end of my fraying rope.
Now there's nowhere to go but down.
.
The frost is lost upon my brow,
Like so many peaks before.
Rumbling stones that tumble down,
Their names committed to yore.
.
Frigid fog in my eyes, mesmerize,
Fields of white confine.
The world below, I don't know.
Their people don't feel like mine.
...
From so high up, I'm wandering...
The wonder is sprawling...
Will I ever be in reach...
Of the flowers that seem so enthralling?
