THE HARRY POTTER PLAY FINALLY HAS A TITLE AND AN OPENING DATE(ISH):

HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, OPENING SUMMER 2016

The Cursed Child delves into what happened to Harry’s parents — Lily Evans Potter and James Potter — before they were killed by Lord Voldemort, forcing an infant Harry to be raised in miserable circumstances by his mother’s sister, Petunia, her horrid husband Vernon and their spoiled son Dudley.

The play may also look at the complicated relationship between siblings Lily and Petunia. A muggle like the rest of her family, Petunia was always put out by her sister’s magical prowess.

There is also dramatic fodder in the friendship between Lily and Severus Snape during their schooldays at Hogwarts (both were members of the Order Of The Phoenix).

Another of their friends — Remus Lupin — may also figure in the story. [x]

I’m so excited/nervous for this, but am also really curious to see what age they’ll cast for the Marauders. 

Lily and James had Harry when they were 20, but the movies decided to portray characters like Snape and Sirius Black as actual “parent age” (ie 40s/50s, with Lily and James looking well over 30 in that photo of them as a couple), when really they would have been about 35 when Harry was in his mid teens. I think the Marauders-era story works much better when you acknowledge that Lily and James were 21/22 when they died, and Snape/Remus/Sirius/Peter were all basically college-age at the height of the War.

Ah but this drives me crazy! Ryan Murphy needs to be on his soapbox about everything but the issue wasn’t even that Blaine might be Bi.
