“Yeah it is kinda nice… huh?” Rori replied with a fond smile. While she wasn’t the kind to be sentimental, the other’s words did spark a bit of that in her. “Everything can be a lot sometimes so… having moments to stop and relax a little are more important than we think, huh?”

“I would say so.” For her it was also the fact that while she was careful, in her line of work, there was always a chance that it could potentially be cut short and that was not something she wanted if she could help it.  “So tell me, what have I missed out on in your life Rora? Anything interesting for me to hear about?”

“I feel like it’s been such a long time since we’ve actually been able to spend time together.” Sam admitted, holding her palms out to the fire, feeling them warm under the force of the heat. “It’s been a lovely day.”

Sam had no qualms about curling up close to Max as the day wore on, a slight cold air picking up just enough to cause her to lean into his warmth. “We have to do this again...” She murmured softly. “I’m thinking tomorrow morning if we get up early. Or don’t go to sleep. It depends on how the night goes.” She hummed contently, letting her head rest against the others shoulder softly.

Max gasped playfully. “I won’t tell a soul,” he replied, making a zipping motion over his lips. “Would he? Well I certainly wouldn’t want him to come after me for it so– all the more reason for me to keep that a secret.” After a moment he leaned forward too, “You’re my favorite too. But… don’t let Tanner find out.”

“Noah’s really just a teddy bear. All that outside stuff is a big front to hide how soft he really is.” Samantha found herself defending him softly because she felt like sometimes the man got a bad reputation because he could be quite harsh to others. “And I wouldn’t dream of telling Tanner. This will just be our little secret.” She assured, giving a small laugh. “Come on, I really do think we’ve spent too much time out here now. You’re soaked.”

“I don’t suppose you have any food on you that isn’t chocolate?” Hugo asked the person who he sensed passing by as he lay on the ground on his stomach trying to coerce the puppy out from the spot where it seemed to be stuck. “Apparently my abilities and baby talk aren’t doing the trick and I might have to resort to food tactics.”

“What are your powers? If you don’t mind me asking of course.” Sam asked as she pulled her bag in front of her and began to search through it before she pulled out a babybel. “Looks like I have cheese which should definitely work for that cheeky little thing.” She offered with a laugh as she held it out to the blond. “Hopefully that will help.”

Although she pulled away quickly, Samantha’s kiss seemed to linger on Max’s cheek. He didn’t quite understand why he felt differently about such a normally friendly gesture. “Aw c’mon Sam. You say that like I’m all you’ve got but that can’t possibly be the case. How can anyone not love spending time with you?”

“Oh, I never said that but...” She leaned in a little and made a hushed sound, putting her finger to her lips as if she was telling a big secret. “Don’t tell anyone I said this but... you’re my favourite.” She playfully tossed him a wink. “Noah would be such a grump if he knew that.” Truth was, Sam was fairly sure Noah wouldn’t care given the man knew he had a special place in her heart.

“You have to remember it, we need to keep our story straight!” She exclaimed, as if she would lie to anyone about what they had been doing all afternoon. Emma nodded in agreement, “It really is, we need to be putting it on our schedule more often. Even if it’s raining we need to be doing something. Maybe even a day trip somewhere?” She suggested, agreeing with Samantha even though Emma was likely the worst offender for overworking. “You can’t be so hard on yourself. What good comes out of sweating the little stuff?”

It was nice to just be able to be lighthearted and laugh with someone. It was definitely something she found herself doing a lot when Emma was around. They could both be just as silly as one another. “Well the rain isn’t really an issue for me but I’d rather not play with the weather more than necessary. It can be temperamental when you mess with it too much.” And she didn’t particularly want to be the cause of a thunderstorm unless she had to. “I’d like that though. Just the two of us or are we going to drag other over-workers along with us on this trip?” She was pretty certain Emma knew which over worker she was thinking of in particular. “I know.. but I can’t help but do it sometimes when it comes to certain things.” Or people.

“No, no, no, you were practicing. We were watching the sun to see how it used it’s light and we were learning from it. We were being productive,” Emma spoke as if she was arguing the case of if they did anything today. “Absolutely,” She agreed- it probably didn’t help that they worked too much but it wasn’t something that Emma would say. “Do you have a lot on your mind?” 

“Oh sorry, of course!” Sam answered, jokingly as they laughed, leaning lightly against the girl. “I think taking some time to perform self-help is always productive. It isn’t a wise idea at all to run yourself into exhaustion.” Sam was fairly good at making sure she took care of herself body and mind and when she didn’t there were always people like Emma, Noah and Max around her to help. “Oh... not lots no. I guess I just think too much about little things sometimes.” She answered quietly. “I make them into bigger things than they need to be.”

“Ah,” she started with a wave of her hand, “I don’t judge. We work hard, we deserve to be solar panels for a day.” Emma attempted to get through her sentence without laughing, to make it seem as if she was completely serious. She made it half way through before she started to laugh again. “So, what happened to your week that you needed a sun day?”

“Well this will be an interesting one to explain to people when we get home; what did you do today? Oh i just became a solar panel.” Though with me and my powers, I suppose they might actually believe I was capable of something like that.” Samantha admitted with a smile. “It’s nothing really but don’t you find that days like this when you get lots of sunshine are just perfect for thinking. I always feel like it untangles my thoughts in some way and helps me figure them out.”

“I know but… I hate to hear you speak about yourself that way,” he admitted sheepishly. “Well it’s always a good time with you, Sam. It feels… natural I guess. I like the way you look at the world and I guess I just want to see it that way too.”

“Well I could never feel truly bad about myself when I have you there to always remind me of all the wonderful things you see in me.” She leaned in to press a kiss to the others cheek. “So thank you for that.” Samantha shifted to look up at the sky for a moment, the fresh droplets hitting her skin. “I’m glad I have you to share it with. It’s a lot less fun looking at and appreciating the world when you’re alone. But I’m not. Luckily I have you.”

It took Emma a moment before she started laughing, “Oh my god, you’re right. We’re solar panels.” It was hard for Emma to speak between the laughter, “It certainly makes sense, I mean, I definitely feel about twenty five percent more charged than I did half an hour ago.” 

Samantha joined Emma in laughing loudly, her cheeks and stomach hurting by the time she was done, face peppered red. “Now that you repeat it back to me, I know how silly that sounds.”

“Godzilla? Sam, you’ve really got to stop. You don’t give yourself or your dancing abilities nearly enough credit,” Max insisted with a shake of his head and a soft tutting noise. “I grew up dancing, especially since Aurelie did it and I’d often be her dance partner so she could practice outside of lessons,”  the explained, smoothly twirling Samantha once more despite the rain pouring down on the two of them.

“It’s not something I’m bothered by really Max. I can joke about myself its not a problem at all.” But she was always a little happier when Max complimented her. He had that ability to make her feel better about herself. Laughing as she was spun, she felt the water kick up around them. “I think you’re the only one would put up with my sudden whims...” She murmured as she moved back in to dance close again.

He took her hand gingerly before pulling her in. Max started to lead their rain waltz, throwing his head back slightly with a chuckle at her words. “There’s no need to apologize, Sam. Besides, there’s nobody I’d rather have step on my toes than you,” he assured her with a warm grin, reaching to spin her around before pulling her back.

This was definitely more refined than the silly, carefree dancing that she had been doing but it still managed to get her heart racing in a pleasant manner. “Oh I don’t know about that. I mean... I can be a little bit reminiscent of godzilla sometimes. I’m not as light footed as you make me sound.” She admitted with a bright laugh when she was spun around. “How can you be so good at everything...”

“Anyway just enjoy it while you can and also don’t tell anyone or it’ll never happen again ever.”

“Woahwoahwoah...” Samantha held up a hand and leaned in close. “PJ, do you mean to tell me that this might happen again then???” She sounded incredulous as she couldn’t help but tease him lightly.

“Do I normally drag you out to dance?” PJ asked, raising a brow, “Alright then,” He said, starting to dance.

“No, that’s my point.” Samantha explained with a softly laugh, happy enough to pick up her own beat as they got onto the dance floor. Thankfully she rarely had a care about what other people thought about her.

Emma’s head sank into the cushions behind her, putting her book down as she turned to look at Sam. “Honestly,” She nodded in agreement as she spoke, “The sun is so beautiful. I think this needs to be a weekly thing. Both of us needed this.” 

“I feel a little like...” She thought for a moment. “One of those, you know, the solar panels...” Samantha explained with a laugh. “I feel like soaking up the sun is recharging my batteries and giving me plenty of energy.”

“Well I’m drunk enough to dance and this is a rare occurrence so take the opportunity while you can,” PJ said, “It’s gonna be a car crash either way.”

“Oh? This is an opportunity for me is it? I feel blessed that you are allowing me to experience your dancing skills.” She teased, laughing as they moved to the dance floor. “Well you take the lead and I’ll follow so we will be a car crash together.”
