Just a little rant to preserve oneself
Can we all agree that The 100 is so much more than these shipping wars… It’s kinda doing my head in people switching off or boycotting …cause this character is not with that character or wishing for that fictional characters death (or really disrespectful people wishing actors who are REAL people certain fates GO FLOAT YOURSELVES contradict yourself there Andrea ). That is just idiotic and childish. To suggest these remarks over a television show is petty and you really need a life !!! This show is really pushes the boundaries unlike other shows who fail in this. For instance, the fact that on The 100 a majority of characters which lead or are taking charge are YOUNG and amazingly young FEMALE characters. (Young people are hugely marginalised into lazy, yobs, uncaring, ruin the world “Oh the youth of today” I get fed up of hearing it all the time. I think it is incredible to see ‘older’ adults listen to their younger counterparts and take on board their advice, our voices should be heard as much as anyone older than us for we are the future and we aren’t all a hindrance or knob heads to society ). Anyway back to The 100 and their fucking awesome young female characters… Look at how friggin awesome Clarke griffin is she is a young, female and in authority also my god it seems she has a brain … Look at Raven Reyes she is young, female and has fucking scientific genius brain (which I could do with) … Look at Octavia blake she is young ,female,smart and is a fucking awesome warrior … Look at Lexa she is young, female, and a fucking commander of thousands oh and did you see her fight (yeah badass) … All these characters can fight their own battles they no longer need to ask authoritative figures or parentals, they are their own leaders now. They don’t need to be defined as part of a love rectangle or whatever shape comes to mind because they have their own awesome personalities and qualities which make each of these female characters so much more than a fucking SHIP. So many other female characters but my tea is nearly ready.
These ships are a factor and are deeply meaningful to audiences I get that and happens with every show, but I ask myself why won’t these people look beyond who’s locking lips or having a tussle in the sheets and see that this show is unique and should be celebrated. Even though it is set some time in the future post apocalyptic Earth it shows today’s audience, young and strong character portrayals from all backgrounds;gender,race,age,sexuality, disability, radioactive animals, hair colour, eye colour, scarification,personal tattoos, weapons.. I’m going to overboard, this show shows characters who make life altering decisions in order to survive, something I hope I would never have to make because when I was 18 I was worried about some 2,500 word assignment due in 24 hrs which didn’t even go to my final grade because it was first year of uni, so I got in a pickle and in the end got addicted to coffee anyway it didn’t kill me and I got the degree hurrahh, (I don’t think I could survive a post apocalypse The 100 world, just give me a spear in the chest) amazing I have a degree yet I am so illiterate. I digress, I’m basically saying how amazing it is too see a younger generations with a voice albeit in a highly life threatening world. Of course there are far other far more intriguing and shipping great factors that different people see, who value this show but I was just using my own personal thoughts on how great The 100 is.
So don’t switch off just because a ship isn’t sailing, I need this Ground breaking show (see what i did their groundbreaking HA HA HA). To continue on its journey for my personal fix of characters that blow my brain every week.. I’m looking at you Raven !!
My rant is over… I’m basically ranting to oneself .. So I can read this in the future… anyhow I’m going to go back under my rock and fangirl this show from afar cause this fandom (I am somewhat a member) is cray cray in the best possible way.
P.S I do know the young males on The 100 are completely and utterly awesome as well but I was on a fast rant and didn’t think. Oooopppsss !! I was back in my feminism classes [uni mode]… Also excuse all sentence structure,grammar and whatever English I wrote .. that part of uni didn’t last long
I think I understand what I’ve written but then its only me reading so I should be fine !!!
