Green Dress - Part IV
Notes: I'm thinking only 1 or 2 parts left in this series. We'll see where the wind takes me. Taglist: @awesomebooklover17 This is my first taglist. So if you want to be added just put it in the comments or PM me!
Part I
You were promenading in Hyde Park with Prince Friedrich, your maid and his valet trailing not too far behind. "I believe we have a love match forming behind us." You leaned toward him, speaking conspiratorially. You could not stop peeking over your shoulder; your maid was blushing and giggling and the valet looked so enamored with her. His eyes seemed to melt when she spoke, very animatedly, waving her hands all around. You wondered what Anthony looked like when you spoke. "I am glad for it. He is typically such a stick." "Your Highness!" You laughed, genuinely. He had never been so candid before. He had never revealed so much of himself and you told him as such. "I enjoy your company, Lady Y/LN. I have become quite comfortable with you." You felt yourself smiling. He was sweet and, apparently, funny and all you and Anthony had done in the past week was argue. Vicious emotional arguments whenever you found in the same room, the most famous of which happening across the dinner table. Honestly, you couldn't name what had started any of them but you knew what the root of the problem was: expectations. You were expected to marry the Prince, now more than ever. Lady Whistledown had even alluded to it in one of her columns. And Anthony was a rake. Always had been, always will be.
False Accusations // A.B (2/2)
Paring: Anthony Bridgerton x Fem!Reader
Summary: Desperately hiding from a boring party, (y/n) finds her way to the garden, making her another person to witness the scene. It is now upto Anthony to make sure she hasn’t seen more and protect his sister’s reputation.
W.C: 2742
Warnings: she/her pronouns, Lady Whisletown being crude, dresses, slight angst.
A.N: okay as promised, here’s part two! Shout out to my bestie for proof reading this fic! The lady Whisletown column was the hardest part to write and it is inspired from chapter two of the viscount who loved me. Anyways, I hope I didn’t mess this up lol.
I’d love to know what you guys think!

Part One
Whilst both Anthony and (y/n), anticipated for the ‘next ball’, it was only two days later; meaning there was still one more day left for the actual ball and today was only a luncheon. There was still a chance to see each other for which the Viscount was strangely thankful for.

Take it Easy - Star Trek
“I LOVED YOUR DOCTOR BASHIR STORY!!! Could you possibly do one of Doctor McCoy where the reader gets hurt and he cares for her? It can be fluffy but it doesn’t have to be!”
‘Ow ow ow ow ow ow’ droned on repeat through your head as you rolled over on the floor. Alarms were going off and you could hear quiet moans from the others who had been in the lab. The explosion had cut through the power system and the room was dark. Faint yellow emergency lights shone through the smoke and dust.
At least there were no flames you thought to yourself. You tried to sit up when a searing pain shot through your lower body. Gasping, you fell back as your hands snapped to your thigh, where they were met with a warm and oozing wetness.
And pain. Lots of pain.
Your communicator chirped. With wet and shaky hands you flipped it open”
“Y/L/N here.”
“Is everything ok down there? Our computers detected an energy spike.” The Captains familiar voice emanated from the small device.
“Energy spike doesn’t quite cover it Captain. We could use an emergency medical team down here.”
A pause.
“Casualties?”
“Im not sure. It’s pretty dark and I am…not mobile.”
“Are you ok?” the Captain asked
“Uh…no, but there appear to be some worse off down here.” You said as you glanced around through the now clearing smoke. Black dots started to appear in your vision as you began to feel increasingly sleepy. You didn’t notice the communicator slip out of your hand as you started to drift off.
In orbit, Leonard McCoy was standing on the bridge when he heard “Emergency medical.” He bolted for the turbolift. He used the intercom in the lift to instruct his team to bring medical kits and supplies to the transporter room. When he stepped off the lift, several more crew members in blue uniforms rounded a corner in the hallway to meet him.
“Situation?” One of the asked, handing a med kit out to him.
“Some sort of explosion. Prep for burns and shrapnel damage.” He grabbed the kit and stepped onto the pad. His worries as a Doctor were going crazy, but his worry for you specifically was causing the slight shake of his normally steady hands.
“Energize.” And less than a second later he appeared in the smoky ruin of the alien lab on the planet below. Right away he could see the two Starfleet scientists who were on your landing team, as well as several scientists from the alien colony you were assisting. McCoy motioned his team towards them.
He moved around the room, looking for you. His face barely hid the rising panic he felt. He took a step over a fallen column and spotted you on the floor. His stomach sank and his heart threatened to beat out of his chest as he dashed to the floor beside you, fingers heading straight for your neck to check for a pulse.
Your eyes fluttered open at his touch.
“Thank God” McCoy let out the breath he had been holding.
“Mmm Leonard.” Your speech was slurred and heavily groggy.
He started to scan you with his tricorder.
“Help…Help my team first” You tried to raise a hand to push him away, but found yourself unable to move.
“Like hell.” He mumbled as he pulled some sort of device out of his kit and moved it over the gash in your thigh. His panic returned as your eyes drooped shut once more and your head slumped to the side.
“Hey. HEY. Don’t you fall asleep on me Y/N!” He shook your arm, still holding the device over your leg. No response. “Dammit! Dammit!”
He whipped out his communicator “Enterprise! Two to beam directly to the medical bay.” He spoke into the little box. “COOLIDGE YOU’RE IN CHARGE DOWN HERE.” He yelled into the smoke filled room.
Moments later he was lifting you onto a surgical table and calling for nurses to bring him various things. As your pulse continued to drop, his level of panic rose. Shaking and feeling sick to his very core, he moved various machines into positions around your leg. A nurse gently tugged off your boots and uniform pants revealing an enormous gash cutting deep into your left thigh. His heart sank even further. You were losing way too much blood way too fast.
“Lets stop this bleeding!” He yelled to the room. A nurse appeared at his side with the required tools and he set to work, sending silent prayers to every deity he had even heard of.
Hours later, your eyes once again fluttered open. Listening, you could hear the familiar beeps of the medical bay. Feeling a pressure on your right side you lifted your head to find Leonard sitting next to your bed, his upper body slumped against your side. His sleeves were pushed up to his elbows and his fingers were wrapped tightly around yours.
“Hey.” You said, and wiggled your fingers against his.
His head snapped up and he looked at you with wide eyes before letting out a long breath.
“Don’t you ever do that again!” he spoke softly and moved to sit on the bed beside you. He brought a hand up to your face, brushing his fingers over your cheek.
“Do what?”
“Scare me like that. God Y/N, Ive never been so scared in my life. And I was once cornered by a Telethian Scissor-Beast.”
“Is my team ok?” you pressed.
“A few burns. A couple heavy shrapnel wounds like yours, but everyone is pulling through.”
You smiled and lowered you head back to the bed before a puzzled look came over your face and you sat up.
“The compressor must have receiving more power than we realized. I need to get back down there.” You mumbled and started to pull the thin hospital blanket from your legs.
Leonard stood and gently pushed you back down on the bed.
“Take it easy gorgeous. You can go back down there when I say you can.”
You shot him an exasperated look.
“Doctors orders. Besides. I don’t think I am physically able to let you out of my sight for a little while” He reached for your hand. You noticed the slight shake in his arm as he sat back down on the bed. Realizing just how scared he must have been you nodded.
“Fine.”
He bent over to kiss your forehead, soliciting giggles from several nearby nurses.
“You’re going to be the death of me you know.” He mumbled against your hairline.
“Mmmmm” You murmured as you closed your eyes. Leonard began tracing circles into your palms with your thumbs as your mind drifted off to more calculations about the explosions. In the back of your mind though, you were silently grateful for the love of your protective sweet talking doctor.
No Limits - Star Trek
So if requests are open, in Star Trek Beyond [oh a Kirk x Reader x big brother! Bones], when Spock and Bones leave, reader goes with them and she gets stabbed instead of Spock, and then lots and lots of angst, but cute fluff and a happy ending????
AN: I used Female pronouns like one time since you specified a “she” reader.
AN: Oh jeez. This turned out to be longer than I anticipated. But I REALLY liked this request. Enjoy!

Drowning - Pt. 1
Pairing: Peter Parker x Stark! Reader
A/N: This is my first attempt at doing any kind of series, it will be short, just two parts. I should be releasing the second part in the next couple of days!
Summary: Peter desperately wants to confess his feelings on a trip to the beach
Warnings: A dash of angst
Masterlist
//
Peter had fallen, fast and hard. Before he could even begin to understand what was going on he was absolutely in love with (y/n) Stark. He’d tried three separate times to tell her, and ended up backing out everytime. The first attempt had been over winter break, he’d gotten her the perfect gift, and planned to accompany it with a card where he’d write down his feelings and ask her out, but he ended up shoving the card under his bed where it remained to this day. The second time he decided to go much simpler and just ask her on a date. The New York Botanical Garden was having a big event to kick off spring, which he thought would be a perfect first date, but instead of asking just her to go he got nervous and suggested their whole friend group go. For his latest attempt he’d gone to purchase a bouquet of her favorite flowers, but the florist had been sold out. He took it as a bad omen and decided he’d wait a little longer, but that was a whole month ago now and he never ended up returning to the florist. Peter was tired of waiting, but he didn’t just want to blurt out that he liked her, he wanted it to be romantic, at least a little bit, he just needed the right opportunity.

Car Crash Part 2
Read Part 1 here!
Requested by @theatrenerd101601 : What if you did one where DeLuca and the reader is married and the reader has to have major surgery (performed by bailey and mer) and their both worried but deluca puts on a strong face for the reader and once she goes in for surgery he kind of breaks down and Alex talks to him and calms him down. You can choose to add when the reader wakes up from surgery.
author’s note: tied in this request to the other one I just wrote (:
It had been 1 week since you were in the accident and you were getting much better, but your abdomen wasn’t healing like it should have been. Bailey and Meredith were going back in to try and fix everything and you were terrified. You didn’t want any more surgery as you had a lot in the past week. Andrew was great, constantly with you and you knew he needed to get back to work rather than worrying about you.
You hadn’t left the hospital and you missed working rather than just laying in bed. All your friends were constantly checking in on you. You started to tap your hand on the hospital bed, your nerves showing through.
It was a risky procedure and you were already fragile. Of course Meredith and Bailey were the best but it still terrified you to no end. Before you could get to in your head, Andrew grabbed your hand and gave it a light squeeze. “It’ll be okay, baby. I promise.” You turned to look at him and nodded.
“I’m so scared, Andrew.” You said quietly. You hated telling your feelings, especially when they made you seem weak but you had a right to be scared about this.
Before he could respond, Mer and Bailey walked in. “Okay, Y/N. You almost ready?” Before you could respond, they went into details about the surgery and you started to zone out, unable to focus.
Once they left, Andrew looked at you. “It’s all going to be okay. I promise. I love you.”
“I love you too,” You said. He stayed by you until they wheeled you into the OR.
“I’m gonna be in the gallery the whole time.” You nodded, it made you feel better to know that he was going to be there for you.
“Let me know what my guts look like.” You joked. When they stopped you, you put your hand on his neck to pull him down and kiss him, “I love you so much, DeLuca. Ever since I laid my eyes on you.”
“I love you too, Y/N.” He said as they hauled you off. He felt defeated. He was terrified but knew he had to keep a strong face for you. He started to make his way to the gallery when he ran into Alex.
“You look like crap, man.” He paused, “Oh is Y/N going into surgery now?” With those words, DeLuca broke. He leaned into the wall. It felt like his heart was shattering, he couldn’t breathe.
Alex pulled the grown man into the on call room and sat him down. He patted him on the back, “It’s gonna be okay, man. You can’t do anything. It’s out of your hands. Whatever happens. Happens. Okay?”
DeLuca nodded. He knew that, it was just so overwhelming with the amount of trauma your body had been through. “I just want to hold her.”
“And you can, when she gets out of surgery and kicks ass. Come on. Let’s go to the gallery and wait.” Alex said nodding towards the door. DeLuca nodded and stood up.
“Thanks man.” He said in passing and the two walked to the gallery.
—
You woke up extremely drowsy, but with Andrew at your side, yet again. You smiled, “Hi baby.” He hadn’t been looking up but when he did, he stood right up and kissed you.
“I love you so much, baby. I was so scared.” He smoothed your hair back, “Surgery went great. I don’t think you have to have anymore.”
Car Crash Part 1(Andrew DeLuca Imagine)
Requested by @theatrenerd101601 : I have a few more lol! Could you do a greys imagine where the reader is married to DeLuca and they get into a bad car accident in the middle of the night and is found early the next morning by Bailey and she immediately calls 911 and when they arrive everyone including DeLuca immediately begin to save her?
Read Part 2 Here!
You shouldn’t have been driving at 3am, that was for sure. But you wanted to get home to Andrew after your shift at the hospital. He had no idea you were even coming home.
That was why you weren’t found until the next morning. The next day was your day off and Andrew had just assumed that he would see you that morning before he went into work.
Your car had been t-boned by a drunk driver and you had flipped, knocking you unconscious. You woke up, hanging upside down with Miranda Bailey screaming your name. “DeLuca! DeLuca! Can you hear me?”
“Dr. Bailey?” You asked, your brain could hardly function. You slowly opened your eyes and they began to adjust to your situation. There was a piece of glass lodged into your leg.
“Don’t move. Your shoulder is dislocated and you have another piece of glass in your chest and abdomen. They’re keeping you from bleeding out. Paramedics are on the way. Just keep talking.”
“Andrew? Where’s Andrew?” At that moment, all you wanted was your husband.
“I don’t know. He’s at the hospital probably. I’m not leaving you to call him, okay?” You had never heard Dr. Bailey this worried before. You could hear it in her voice.
“I’m sorry, Dr. Bailey. I shouldn’t have left the hospital when I did. I should have stayed in an on-call room.” Tears welled in your eyes.
“No! You will not do that, Y/N. This is not your fault. That man hit you.” You had forgotten about the other man. You groaned out and shifted in your sear. The piece of glass got caught on the seat belt and ripped out. You screamed out and tried to put pressure on the wound but the one shoulder wouldn’t work.
The next thing you knew you were in the ambulance with Dr. Bailey packing your wounds. “Miranda?” You said. She looked down at you and grabbed your hand before going back to work.
“You’re in bad shape. We’re getting you to Grey-Sloan. Andrew is waiting for you. We’re going to remove the last piece of glass in the OR.” You nodded and felt yourself going in and out of consciousness.
You were there quickly and being wheeled out. You had no idea how they got you out of the car or what happened to the other driver. “Y/N! Y/N!” You heard Andrew yell. You reached out, causing you to yelp in pain. Before you knew it, you started to seize, dislodging the piece in your chest.
As soon as you were done seizing, Andrew was on top of you on the gurney holding pressure to keep you from gushing blood, “I’m right here baby. I’m right here. You’re gonna be okay.”
——-
You woke up with tubes everywhere, you heard Bailey’s voice, “Her eyes are starting to open.” A hand grabbed yours and your eyes opened all the way. It was Andrew and Bailey by your side.
“Hi sweetheart,” Andrew said softly. “You were hurt real bad, but we fixed you up. I’ll tell you all about it later, but you had a dislocated shoulder and a bad concussion that caused a seizure. You also almost bled out.”
“I sound like a mess.” You smiled lightly. Andrew smoothed your hair back.
“I’m so sorry baby. You were found by Bailey the next morning. I’m sorry I didn’t look for you.”
You stopped him, “You didn’t know. And at least Bailey found me and not a stranger I probably would have died.” You turned your attention towards Bailey, “Thank you so much, Miranda.”
“Don’t worry about it.” She squeezed your other hand, “Just don’t do anything like it anytime soon. My heart can’t handle it.”
You nodded and a tear fell from your eye, you were so thankful to be alive.

Anthony Bridgerton x Reader - Requested
Summary: You fell down the stairs and Anthony comes home to find you. Terrified of losing you and your unborn child, he panics.
Word count: 1.6k
Warnings: mention of death
Note: Thank you so much for the request, it was so much fun to write!!!
If you do have a request, please do send them in delighted to take them!
You woke to the feeling of a soft kiss on your lips. Smiling, you pressed back as you woke fully. Opening your eyes to see your husband fully dressed. “This does not seem like the lazy day I was promised” you say before yawning and sitting up. “I know, I am sorry” Anthony said, siting on the side of the bed and taking your hand. “I have some business to attend to this morning but this afternoon, I am all yours” he promised. Kissing your hand slowly. You hummed and nodded, “alright but you better bring home some flowers” agreeing as you did not wish to fight with the man you love.
You groaned as you felt a sharp kick to your stomach, looking down at your round belly you sigh. “Someone isn’t happy you are leaving either” you tease, moving his hand to feel the strong kicks coming from your first child. He chuckled and leaned in, kissing your belly softly to say sorry to the baby also. You still remember the day you told him you were expecting.
It was the night of a ball. What ball you could not remember. Anthony had promised you one dance, as he always did. He did like like doing more then one ever. Even when you were courting. As you danced around the floor, he made comment on your mood. “I would of expected you to sit this ball out. Aren’t you due your…monthly’s?” he finished. Making you laugh at his uncertainty in the subject of the female body. “I was, but I have found that I shall be without them for the next few months” you replied as he spun you around. This seemed to confuse the man as he danced silently for a few minutes.

Green Dress - Part III
Notes: This one is a little shorter but kind of intense so, forgive me :)
Part I Part II
In the weeks that followed, your kiss with Anthony had grown into a full-blown affair. You were still courting the Prince, of course, egged on by the nearly daily letters from your mother requesting progress reports. So, naturally, this meant a lot of lingering glances, secret touches, and scorching kisses in darkened alcoves. Now that Daphne was quite settled as the Duchess of Hastings, Anthony had altogether stopped attending balls, citing work and disinterest, when he really just didn't want to watch Prince Friedrich fawn over you all night.
Green Dress
Author's Note: Hello! This is my first time posting my writing but I thought it would be fun so lmk what you think :)
Summary: Anthony x Fem!reader; It has been a long time since you were back in the company of Bridgerton's, since before Edmund passed, but it's your first London season and your mother insists on your making the most advantageous match possible. You have your sights set on Prince Friedrich of Prussia; now, only if you could ignore the little flip in your stomach whenever the Viscount looks at you. (1.3k words)
"Get me out of this dress." You barked at the maid, frustrated with your lack of success at removing it yourself which just left you twisted and displaying much more cleavage than appropriate. She jumped into action, swiftly undoing buttons. "The prince's favorite color is green, not blue." you exasperated, "That horrid Cressida Cowper is spreading lies; not that I should be surprised."
Mark Sloan x reader - in the balance
Hello! Do you think you could a Mark Sloan x reader where the reader gets shot during the hospital shooting In season 6 and mark finds them and takes them to an or and hunt has to do surgery (and maybe they code and Mark is still there watching) but then when they wake up it’s all fluffy and cute Thank you so much if you do!!! - Anon❤️
You didn’t think too much about it when the hospital went into lockdown, you were scared, of course, but you were focusing on keeping the people in the lobby calm.
You were stood with Mark and Lexie when went off, without thinking Mark pulled Lexie leaving you stood up in shock and before you could even thin k about getting to the ground like everyone else, another shot rang out, a seering pain spread across your abdomen and it all went quiet, bedsides the screaming and crying from people. There were no more shots.
You stood there, completely stunned, shock spread across your body, meaning that the pain wasn’t registering. Slowly, you brought a hand up to your stomach and gently pressed it down before pulling away, your hand was stained completely red.
Your legs started to wobble and they suddenly felt weak, they buckled, and you fell to your knees, hands pressed on your stomach to try stop the bleeding.
“(Y/N)!” Mark yelled.
Before your body fell forward against the ground, a pair of strong arms caught you and carefully pulled you back so your head was resting on Marks thighs. He pressed his hands to your wound, eyes wide and scared.
“Lexie get a stretcher now!” He roared out.
You didn’t hear her reply, but you guessed she ran off fore Mark turnt his attention back to you. You eyes were staring up at him, but at the same time they were unfocused. You couldn’t focus on him or anything, everything was blurred and sounds were dull, pain was starting to slowly bloom throughout your whole and everything felt like it was shutting down.
“Stay awake, come on... come on...”
Mark was flicking his gaze from you to the doors, growing more and more frustrated with every second that slipped by. He wanted to scream, what was taking Lexie so long, every second that went by Mark knew your chances slipped away.
He ran his hand through your hair, his hand was shaking violently but he didn’t say anything. Your body had started to shake, mark pulled off his shirt and covered you with it, carefully to not jolt your body or your wound too much.
“M... mark...” You chocked out.
“I’m still here.” He rushed out.
You didn’t acknowledge that you heard him, but your body seemed to relax a little it. But Mark knew that wasn’t a good thing, your body was shutting down, he started to look around again and thankfully Lexi was rushing back in with a few nurses. Mark tried to lift you up as gently as he could, but your scream in pain rattled around his head, and it tore his heart out.
Quickly and carefully he set you down on the stretcher, his hand clutching yours tightly as they set off towards an OR, thankful that they were on the same floor. They picked a random one, and rushed in finding it empty, Mark let out a small sigh of relief and started to bark out orders, not aware that Lexie had slipped out of the room, or the fact that she returned with someone else.
Mark whipped around at the sound of the door closing, he jumped protectively in front of you, thinking it was the shooter again. A sigh of relief left him when he saw Owen stood next to the intern, worry was written all over his face as he took in Marks disheveled, blood covered appearance.
“Who’s behind you?” Owen asked.
Mark slowly stepped to the side, allowing the ex army doctor to see you now unconscious form resting on the table, shirt cut open, blood covering a good amount of your abdomen. Immediately he jumped into doctor mode.
“I can’t kick you out, so just try stay out of the way.”
Mark didn’t protest, his hands were still shaking wildly so there was no way that he’d be able to help with the surgery, so the least he could do was stay out the way and hope Owen would be able to save you.
Mark stood at the back of the OR, he had tuned everything else you, the only thing he could focus on was you. He hated seeing you like this, it tore him apart. Right now, there was nothing he wouldn’t do just so he could see you smile again, to hear you laugh again. Everything Mark just brushed off before about you, he wished he could experience once more. All those times where he was sleeping with a different nurse everyday, he wished that he was with you.
Because seeing your life on the balance, something clicked inside of him, and all Mark wanted in life was you. He didn’t want anything else, he didn’t need anything else, he just wanted you to be safe and okay and happy. It made sense to him, because he loved you, this was how Derek felt about Meredith, and how Owen felt about Cristina.
“Her heart rates falling.” Lexie panicked.
That snapped Mark out his head, just as his eyes landed on your heart monitor you coded, the godforsaken endless beep of the flat line was what filled his ears.
“Do something Hunt!” Mark yelled out.
“I’m trying!” Owen yelled back.
Mark was getting ready to storm over when ?Owen finally shocked you. There was a small jump in the monitor, but that was it. Owen cursed under his breath and increased the voltage, then tried again. Again, there was a jump in the monitor, then a flatline for a few seconds before the monitor started to beep along with your heartbeat once more.
“Thank god...” mark whispered.
He slumped against the wall, runnning a hand down his face before turning his gaze back to you.
It didn’t take much longer and finally you were stable, stitched up and alive. Due to the hospital still being in lockdown they couldn’t go anywhere just yet, so while everyone sat around anxiously waiting, Mark stood by your side with Owen.
“Thank you.” He muttered out.
Owen said nothing, but he nodded his head in response. Leaving Mark alone at your side.
Not long later they were given the all clear and you were moved into your own room, while the hospital tried to recover from what had just heppened.
That night was when you woke up, a small groan leaving your lips as you opened your eyes. You could feel som one brushing hair from your face, and once your vision focused, you turnt your head to face them, a small smile spreading across your lips as you saw who it was.
“Mark...” You croaked out.
Mark smiled brightly, his fingers stopping, resting on the side of your face.
“Hey (Y/N)... you’re awake...”
You hummed lightly, tiredly bringing up a hand to cover his, and closed your eyes with a small sigh.
“How long have you been here...?”
You opened your eyes to look at Mark, and caught him shrugging.
“I don’t know, I’ve been with you since you got shot.”
You nodded your head, turning your gaze up to the ceiling.
“Thank you...”
Mark leant down, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before he climbed onto the bed with you. It wasn’t comfortable at all, and he was half hanging off the bed, but he didn’t want to be anywhere else, and judging by the smile that spread across your face, you didn’t want him to be anywhere else either

@livi-lu Can u do a greys anatomy image? Where the reader and mark are married and the reader is 8-9 month pregnant and she falls down the stairs (like Meredith does in season 9) but at home and mark gets all worried and protective?
36 weeks. 36 weeks, four days and ten hours of being the size of a whale. It was unreal, in the beginning, the idea of being pregnant seemed so magical. It seemed like a miraculous journey that two people went on to create a being that was both theirs. It seemed like a rite of passage almost and a thing we had longed for since we had married. That was 36 weeks ago. 54 pukes ago. 2 swollen feet and one aching back ago.
Now pregnancy seemed like hell. Every part of me ached. Every movement seemed to be slower than before and my stomach had become so large I hadn’t seen my feet in over a week. Though I was so over the idea of the miracle of life everyone else in my life seemed to be perfectly happy about this arrangement. Whilst I puked and sweated through the increasingly warm summer months with little to no sleep Mark counted down the days till we met our little boy and frantically prepared for his arrival.
Having never seen Mark build anything in his life it was quite the sight to behold him trying to grapple with an IKEA cot set and several, now broken, mobiles.
Baby was also very content. He sat inside me growing bigger by the day playing soccer on my bladder and refusing to turn the right way despite the ever-nearing due date.
So that was my life at the moment.
Currently, I was working in the middle of a heat wave with temperatures soaring today to 98 degrees. I was sweaty and tired as I moved through the halls of the hospital thanking the only saving grace that was decent air con on every floor and scrubs were breezier since I had gotten the most tent like ones so that they covered my belly.
I was just finishing up for lunch and dropping the charts from my morning rounds jobs off at the nursing station when I was paged. With a sigh I leant over the desk and reached for the phone, dotting in the numbers that would summon the person that needed me. As the dial tone ended I spoke, ‘Hi this Dr Y/L/N, I was paged?’
‘Hi Y/N, this is Rachel from unit 3A. I’m looking after Gavin Shay in 321. He’s complaining of severe abdo pain. He had a lap appendicectomy yesterday. He looks to be in quite a bit of pain, he’s guarding himself and rolling around groaning. His blood pressure is normal but his respiratory rate and heart rate are elevated. I looked at the op site and it looks clean and normal. I’ve given him all his pain medication he’s prescribed and will top up when ready. I wondered if you could prescribe something stronger see if that will help and possibly come and review him, see if there’s anything else we need to be looking at?’ ‘Sure Rachel. I’ll come up right away and prescribe something. Let me have a look at him first, see whats going on.’ ‘Of course, thanks.’ And with that she clicked off and with a heavy sigh I put the receiver down and headed to the unit on the other side of the hospital. As I walked out down the corridor I reached the elevator and pressed the button.
Nothing happened.
I pressed the door button again awaiting a response but nothing came. The button never lit up and the floor numbers never changed above the metal doors. Great. Weighing up my options I decided against going to the other elevators as they were too out of the way of where I needed to be and my feet and ankles were already aching as I longed for my well-earned break. I deviated towards the staircase and headed up the 3 flights to my floor steadily and slowly.
As I walked I thanked the stars that this room was cool. I’d worked up quite a sweat and the roomy hall was a welcome change and the lack of people made it all the better.
As I got halfway up Derek came into the stairway in a hurried fashion though as he blew passed me he greeted me all the same, ‘Hey Y/N.’ ‘Hey Derek,’ I smiled, ‘busy day?’ ‘Yeah,’ he murmured, stopping behind me on the steps I had just came from, ‘sorry Y/N I’ve got to go. One of my patients has gone missing.’ ‘Missing?’ ‘Yeah, psych patient down for the OR today. Gone AWOL at less than an hour to scrubbing in.’ ‘Bummer.’ ‘Yeah,’ he sighed looking down at the chart in his hand before he said, ‘look I’m trying to find him so I gotta go. Your shoe is untied by the way. See you later.’ ‘Thanks, see ya later, you and Mer still coming for dinner tonight?’ I called as he walked down the stairs. ‘Yeah,’ he shouted behind him, ‘see you tonight.’
As I turned back around I signed leaning over my belly to look at my untied shoelace. Placing my foot up on the step above me I leant down, which took some strategic movement and started to tie my lace. All of a sudden, I felt a whoosh of air and a force against my elbow which knocked me immediately off balance. As my surroundings moved out of focus my footing went from underneath me and I felt myself move through the air rapidly. My body wrapped around itself as I hit the steps in a series of rapid bounces and hit the bottom of the stairs in a heap. Pain swept through me immediately though I couldn’t locate where, as my body went into overdrive trying to figure out where was hurt.
I lay on the ground unmoving and I was Immediately aware my back which took the brunt of the fall. My elbows hurt from the failing attempt I’d made to stop myself from falling by pushing them into the nearest wall.
Being proactive I started to move so I pushed myself up into a sitting position and I looked down for bleeding and bruise and immediately became aware of my bump. It sat in front of me, unchanging as if unaware there was anything wrong though panic spread through me in a wave.
My mind went blank. All my training became useless as I thought about my baby boy sitting inside me unknowingly battered and bruised. Irrationality took over blinding my thoughts as I tried to figure out what to do for the best.
The next minute or so passed in slow motion. If anything, all the events since I had fallen went in slow motion so much so that I was unsure how long I had been sat there. I only came too as I heard the clatter of the door behind me and the burst of air that washed over me as it opened.
I tried to move to avoid the inevitable collision from the person behind me but my body was fixed, too heavy to move anything.
‘Y/N?’ I heard my name called in Derek’s soft voice again though now it was panicked and uncertain. He came into my line of vision as he bent down to meet my eye line his face full of concern and worry, ‘what happened why are you on the floor!?’ ‘Knocked downstairs,’ I murmured. ‘I was chasing my patient back in here, my God, don’t move okay,’ he said as he leant away from me for a second and shouted for help out of the open door. His emotions dissipated from his face and though I could tell he was still concerned he went into doctor mode and immediately started assessing me, ‘You fell downstairs?’ ‘Yeah,’ I said as a nurse came in to aid Derek and he ordered her to start checking my vitals. ‘Which way?’ ‘Backwards,’ I said becoming increasingly aware of the pain in my back the longer I sat down. ‘Did you hit your head?’ He asked and I nodded. His eyes went wide for a moment but he regained composure and grabbed a pen torch out of his pocket to asses my pupils. ‘Any pain or bleeding that you’ve can feel?’ ‘No.’ ‘Vitals are normal Dr Shepherd,’ the nurse murmured, ‘heart rates elevated but not much, it’s in the 90s.’ ‘Okay,’ Derek said, ‘get a gurney and extra pair of hands. Transfer Y/N to the ER and page Dr Robins. I’ll order a head and spine CT and I’ll be with you soon as.’ ‘Where are you going?’ I asked, the shock of the accident was starting to wear off and the feeling of being left in unfamiliar company was suddenly daunting. ‘I’ll be back in a little while,’ he said with a reassuring smile, ‘I’m going to find Mark.’
I nodded and watched him leave and then sighed. Mark was going to flip.
I was aided up off the floor and onto a gurney before I was wheeled down to the CT scan. I suppose knowing everyone in the hospital was good enough to fast track all tests and before I knew it I was down in the ER and placed into my own private room to wait for further assessment. It was so weird, being a patient. To have people I knew flutter around me, looking me over in a way that I had done so many times before to other peoples. All keeping the faux smile on their faces, though it failed to meet their eyes as I listed my symptoms and worry for my unborn baby.
Relief came after around 15 minutes in the form of Arizona, who with her bubbly personality managed to take my mind off everything that had happened despite being focused on her task at hand – checking the baby. ‘Y/N,’ she smiled as she flurried in dismissing nurses and doctors until we were alone in the room, ‘Derek told me what happened.’ ‘Yeah,’ I said, ‘just my luck eh?’ ‘Well you know I’m for anything that makes Mark run around like a headless chicken but this is a bit extreme,’ she said with a smirk. ‘I’m fine,’ I giggled, ‘just wanted an early maternity leave.’ ‘Typical,’ she said as she moved to sit on the chair next to me and pulled the sonogram towards me. Pulling my scrub top back, she placed the cool gel on my belly and fired up the screen. It was facing away from me so I was forced to observe Arizona’s face for any tell-tale sign of worry or concern. In a minute that felt like forever, she turned it towards me and I saw a black and white image of my baby, sat inside me all content, ‘and if we just…’ she muttered as she flicked a couple of switches and a steady fast thump echoed around the room. A heartbeat. ‘Now he looks fine in there and all your bloods look normal,’ she said with a smile, ‘Derek’s your primary physician so he’s looking at all your CT scans but as far as I know right now you’re doing okay. I would recommend you take it easy over the next couple of weeks, I’d even speak to Richard about moving up your maternity leave so that–’ ‘Y/N!’ my name was shouted as the door flung open, cutting Arizona’s words short. Mark appeared in the doorway looking sweaty and red, and he moved so quick he was at my side in an instant pressing a wet kiss to my temple as he uttered an onslaught of questions, ‘what happened? Derek said you fell, or that someone pushed you? Did you hurt anything? How’s the baby? You’ve been scanned right and-’ ‘Mark honey, slow down,’ I smiled as he perched on the trolley beside me and tentatively held my hand, ‘yes I’m fine. I wasn’t pushed, it was an accident.’ ‘Whoever it was left you for dead, hardly no blame there.’ ‘Don’t be dramatic, I wasn’t left for dead,’ I sighed, rolling my eyes which made Arizona smirk. ‘I’ll leave you two to it.’ Mark’s eyes fell on me and I could feel the worry radiate off him. I sat up and placed my hand on his cheek as I said, ‘babe honestly I’m okay. It could have been a lot worse. I fell back so my butt took the brunt of it, but other than that I’m okay.’ ‘Honest?’ ‘Yeah, honestly. Baby’s been checked out, he’s been kicking around in there all happy. My blood works normal, I’ve had scans. My back and arms hurt but I’ve taken some Tylenol and I’m doing okay.’ ‘Good,’ he smiled, ‘but I want a good look at baby myself.’ And before I could stop him he moved swiftly off the table and around to the sonogram which he loaded up so we could see our son.
I made a thing...

Collin and I laughed as we both carried Violet through the foyer of the home, clearly someone had too much to drink. My mother-in-law continued to deny this through her giggling.
“Of course not, you are completely sober.” Collin joked as we made it to the stairs.
“And I’m sober enough to know when you’re being impertinent.” Violet said to her son, still holding my hand.“Good night dears.”
“Good night mother.”
“Good night.”
Collin and I shared a look as she went upstairs, failing to hold in our laughter. We both doubled over as we laughed, until we heard someone call us. Turning to our left, we saw Anthony and Benedict in the doorway.
“Come here.” Anthony hissed.
“Good God. Did someone die?” Collin whined.
“What? What’s happened?” I asked, suddenly panicking.
“Collin, get here, now.” Anthony instructed, his younger brother complying.
I followed.“Anthony, what’s wrong? Is someone hurt? Are you in trouble?” I didn’t mean for all the questions but I loved him too much for something to happen to him.
He shoved Collin inside, stepping out and shutting the door behind him.“It doesn’t concern you darling. Just go up to bed.”
“Wait,” I grabbed onto his arm before he could get away,“Anthony, please don’t shut me out.”
“This isn’t for women’s ears. Please, do as I say.”
Anthony kissed my forehead tenderly, before he quickly ripped his arm away, looking sympathetic as he did so. The door shut, and although I was tempted to burst in there, I knew this was something out of my league. Sighing, I reluctantly walked away, slipping off my heels before slowly making my way upstairs.
As I prepared for bed, my mind was distant. I couldn’t stop wondering what their meeting was about. Anthony looked stressed (even more than usual), and the fact that the eldest brothers were together meant this business was serious. Once my maids were finished and gone, I sat up in bed, having left some candles lit. At first I thought reading might take my mind off things, but the romantic novel only made me think of my husband more. I was tired from the ball, feet throbbing from dancing, which made me believe I could fall asleep. I wasn’t able to fool myself, unfortunately stuck awake again. Groaning in frustration, I stood, making my way to the door. I hesitated, wondering if I should really go storming downstairs when Anthony told me otherwise. No, I had to check on my love.
Opening the door, I heard someone else do the same. Poking my head out, I looked down the hall, seeing Daphne also awake. She rushed towards me, grabbing my hand without a word and dragging me out of my room.
“Woah, Daphne, woah, slow down!” I exclaimed quietly, stopping her at the top of the stairs.“Why are you rushing downstairs? What’s wrong?”
“My brother is doing something terribly stupid, and I cannot stand by doing nothing.” She said, tugging on my arm as she continued her route.
That made my heart beat even greater, terrified for what my husband could be a part of. I kept up with her, still tightly holding her hand until we burst into the room the men had their meeting in. Collin was the only one in there, looking alarmed when he saw us.
“Where have they gone?” Daphne demanded to know.
Collin sighed.“Daph-”
“Tell me where this duel takes place.”
“And why would I do that?”
“Duel?! Anthony has gone to a duel?! With who?!” I exclaimed.
“So that I may prevent it from happening.” Daphne continued.
“Hastings has done you a grave dishonour.”
“Can someone please explain what is happening?” I stood beside them, though neither took any notice.“What does the Duke of Hastings have to do with any of this?”
“Surely you wish to see him pay?”
“Not with his life.” Daphne snapped back.
“Anthony is dueling with Hastings?! What if they kill each other?”
“It will not come to that.” Collin finally addressed me.“The Duke will remember his honour once he finds himself on the deadly end of a pistol.”
“And if he does not?” Daphne said.
“They will both do the gentlemanly thing and fire their pistols wide. Now allow them to bring this ugly business to a conclusion themselves.”
Daphne groaned as I began pacing around the room.“Do you know how many times I’ve heard that said? Myself and (Y/N)? That we should leave the men to their business and to not concern ourselves with such weighty affairs? Whose affairs, right now, are my future, my family.”
“This isn’t going to end well, you know it Collin.” I stopped walking around, crossing my arms over my chest in frustration.
“(Y/N) is right. Anthony is too angry to fire wide and Simon is too stubborn to yield. You did not see them in that garden.”
“No, I did not, and neither did anyone else. You should be happy that no one saw anything.” Collin pointed out.
So something dishonourable happened in the gardens of the party. Something that has cause my husband to want to duel an old friend. Part of me felt slightly angered towards Daphne, she had been playing with fire around the Duke, it’s all Anthony went on about for the last few weeks.
“Only someone did see.” Daphne realised.
Collin and I stared at her wide eyed.
“Cressida Cowper. Collin, you must tell me where they’ve gone.”
“I’m coming with you.” I declared.
“Neither of you are going, Anthony will have my head-”
“Collin.” I stood in front of him, putting on the angriest face I could.“My husband may be about to lose his life and I knew nothing about it. Believe me, he will be reprimanded for that, but if you do not tell us where these stupid men are right now, it will be me having your head, not Anthony!”
After pressuring Collin to reveal where the men were, we raced to the stables, both Daphne and I still in our nightgowns, with only a cloak to cover us from the wind whipping against us as we rode. Our poor horses were not expecting this early call, using what energy they had to gallop as fast as possible. My throat was dry, heart racing and mind drowning with thoughts about what could be happening right now. Had they even started? Were the shots fired?
We rode out of the country and into large fields. It seemed that we would never reach them in time. I kept my eye out for any signs of people or horses, praying that my husband wouldn’t be bleeding out on the ground. Why hadn’t he told me? He hadn’t even said goodbye. All I got was a simple kiss on the forehead, nothing other than that. Even if he did survive, he would have to leave this place, but was he going to leave without me?
“There they are!” Daphne shouted to us, speeding her horse ahead.
“Daphne! Wait!” I yelled after her, but she was too far away.
There were multiple bodies up ahead, and it looked like the duel had only just started, they were taking their steps already. I urged my horse to go faster, screaming Anthony’s name, but he couldn’t hear me. The men turned, ready to aim and fire. Tears started falling down my cheeks, quickly drying from the wind hitting my face. I was getting so close, but it still wasn’t enough. Daphne had somehow made it to them, but as the gunshots echoed out, she was caught in the middle of it, her horse rearing up and throwing her off.
As she landed on the ground, my horse also got spooked, rearing up as hers did, though I managed to stay on. However, it went hurtling forwards, and I couldn’t regain any control. I screamed as I tried to grab the rein again, feeling my balance slip away. One minute I was managing to stay upright on the horse, the next I had fallen off to my left, with my foot still hooked onto the stirrup. My head hit the ground harshly, and I was dragged through the dirt and grass as my horse continued to gallop. I couldn’t make out where I was, or what was right or left. Suddenly, the horse started slowing down, the dragging finally stopping. As I figured out where I was, my head still spinning, I felt someone lift my leg out of the stirrup and slowly onto the floor.
“(Y/N), (Y/N) can you hear me?” Anthony gently held my face in his hands, kneeling beside me.
“My head…” I moaned.
“It’s alright, my dear.” an older man appeared, and I only just realised he was also kneeling beside me.“You’ve hit your head quite hard, you’ll likely have bruises along your back, and your leg will ache. But it’s nothing rest won’t fix. If you have severe headaches, you should call upon me again to give you something for it. For now, I shall forget I ever saw any of this, just as we agreed.”
“Thank you doctor.” Anthony breathed out, helping me sit up as the doctor walked away.
I clung onto his arm, using my other hand to pull his face closer to mine. I kissed him hard, relieved that he was still alive and unharmed. He seemed to be feeling the same way as me, until I pulled away and slapped him round the face. His mouth was open in shock.
“That’s for going to a duel without telling me.”
“(Y/N), I…what?”
“I can’t believe you thought you could just go and get shot, or shoot someone and leave me behind! What would happen to me? I couldn’t bear it if you died, or left, either way, I am furious with you!”
“Darling, I had to do it. He dishonoured Daphne, therefore, dishonouring our name.”
I tried to stand by myself, though felt dizzy, annoyed that I had to have Anthony to help me. He kept his arms around me, and although I loved the feeling, knowing he was safe, I had a hatred for him in that moment.
“But why wouldn’t you tell me?” I looked up at him, ignoring the throbbing in my head.
“We would have to leave society, make a life as…I don’t know what but we wouldn’t be allowed here anymore.”
“So? Do you really think I regard myself so highly that I would diminish my love for you to remain in society?”
“What?”
“Anthony, I would rather leave all of this behind, and be with you wherever you go in the world. That fact that you think I would prefer to live without you hurts me.”
“(Y/N), I didn’t mean-”
I slipped out of his hold, hopefully stable now.“I don’t want to speak of this right now. I’m finished with this topic of conversation.”
Anthony knew there was no point trying to reason with me in that moment. It was also no time to argue when there were more pressing matters at hand. He huffed, only walking away from me once Collin approached, letting me loop my arm through his for support. I watched as he glared at Simon, who was in a deep discussion with Daphne.
“We must resume before someone should find us.” he said to Simon before taking a pistol from Benedict again.
“There will be no need to resume.” Daphne spoke up. We all looked at her, wondering how she was going to stop the duel.“The Duke and I are to be married.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
We had all ensured we were home before any of the staff could see us, slipping out of our dirty clothes and stuffing them under the bed. I had struggled, feeling nauseous as I rushed. But as I lay down in bed, my headache suddenly returning and my back aching, I heard the door lock. Anthony threw the key onto his desk in the room, hands on his hips as he paced.
“Anthony.” I tried to stop him.“Anthony, please don’t do that.”
“I’m thinking (Y/N).” he mumbled.
“Then why don’t you think in your office? You’re making me dizzy. And nervous.”
“Do not speak to me like that. You do realise how this might tarnish our name?”
“They’re getting married, it will be fine Anthony.”
“It does not matter, he still dishonoured her, I saw it myself.”
“And you have not done that yourself in the past?”
That made him stop in his tracks. His head turned to me so quickly I though his neck would snap off.“They were not eligible ladies.”
“And that makes a difference? Anthony, I need to rest, please leave me.” I turned onto my side, pulling the covers higher so they almost covered my face.
He groaned, and I instantly regretted what I had said. His footsteps were loud as he made his way to the door, but I never heard it being unlocked. He sounded like he was now approaching the bed, and I found out I was right when the bed dipped in front of me me. I opened my eyes to see Anthony shuffling around, and I heard two light thumps on the floor from taking off his boots, before he lifted and covers; he shuffled in towards me, gently putting his arm under my pillow, moving as close as he could to me.
“You are right.” his voice was quieter now.“I, along with many men, have…done things in the past. Those women are, were meant for those things, but as soon as I saw you in the room, I knew I had to approach you. I remember that beautiful blue dress you were wearing, and how well you held yourself. But you were still so enticing, I found you to be so interesting, yet you only spoke with me for five minutes. You danced so elegantly, yet I still thought I could keep up with you.”
“If you are trying to make me swoon so I forget all about earlier, it isn’t working. You use the same story every time.” I said.
“Because it’s one of the best ones. I could retale about the time I saw you first promenading, the balls and social events we coincidentally went to, how I called upon your house-”
“Anthony, you may stop.” I tried not to giggle, but my smile was evident.“I am still angry at you for putting yourself in such an idiotic and dangerous situation. However, I deeply admire your love for your family, I know you would do anything for them. Just…if you ever do anything like that again, you are to inform me of your plans. I go wherever you go.”
“I promise. I was stupid to think I could do that to you. I just wanted to make sure you would still have a good life.”
“The only way I would have a good life is by being with you.”
Anthony smiled, tenderly kissing me.“You should rest darling. You’re hurt.”
“As long as you stay here with me.”
“I promise.”
