Giles x reader - a soft jealousy
Something where the reader (not a student) is a part of the gang. She's friendly with Giles and likes to visit him in the library and he develops a bit of a crush on her. All of the scoobies can see what's up and they recruit Spike to obnoxiously flirt with the reader to piss Giles off and finally push him into confessing his feelings (Spike just loves to torment Giles hehe) - Anonđ
You had known everyone a while, and it was painfully obvious to everybody that you and Giles had a thing for each other.
He thought you were just being friendly with him, that you could never be interested in him that way because why would you?
You thought he was just being polite because thatâs whole he was, he was polite to everyone.
So eventually Buffy, Willow and Xander decided that enough was enough and tried to pair you two up.
Asking you two to meet them somewhere and not turning up, trying to drop hints, passing to comments you and Giles had made about each other along but nothing seemed to work.
And Buffy had one more idea in mind, a risky one, one that she wasnât really happy with but it was the last resort idea.
âYou canât be serious Buffy, this is insane!â Xander argued.
âI know! But they just donât get the hints!â
Willow nodded a little bit in agreement as they all waited by the cemetery.
âI know, itâs like theyâre just blind to it, weâve tried everything to show them that they both feel the same way but they just donât understand.â Willow sighed.
Willow had been rooting the most for you and Giles to get together, she thought the pair of you were adorable when you were together.
After another moment of waiting the person they had been waiting for to show up finally did, and Xander clutched his stake a little tighter with a scowl and whispered.
âFor the record I still think this is a bad idea.â
Buffy shot him a scowl and turned to spike.
âFeeling brave are we?â Spike smirked.
Buffy rolled her eyes at him.
âNo, we need your help getting Giles and (Y/N) together.â
Spike scoffed a little bit, leaning on a tree as he crossed his arms.
âWhy on hells earth would I ever help those two? Especially that man anyway? Why would I even help you?â
âBecause (Y/N) is the only one thatâs actually nice to you, and she could get Giles to tolerate you better too.â
Spike gave a small nod of his head as he considered that, you were pretty nice to him all things considered and he did really enjoy getting under Gilesâ skin so it would work out pretty well.
He mused, following them back to the school where he knew you would most likely be helping with inventory.
And that began Spikeâs relentless flirting with you, from cheesy pick up lines, standing too close to you, hand brushing your shoulder or hand.
It was almost like a game to Spike to see how many times he could make you embarrassed or how many times Giles would glare at him or move you away from the vampire.
Buffy, Willow and Xander could see it too, the way Giles would clench his jaw, or put some books down a little harder than usual.
Today Spike decided to up his game, it was a simple evening, you had asked him to go with you to explore a nearby festival since you didnât like going alone so he walked around with his arm around your shoulders keeping you close.
Willow had causally mentioned to Giles you were going while they were doing some research at the school, Xander was nearby texting her what to say to Giles while Buffy was making sure Spike was on his best behaviour.
All Giles had to hear was Spike was walking around with his arm on your shoulder and that was it he was rushing out that door as fast as he could.
Willow beamed proudly texting Xander who told Buffy who pretended she needed spike for something to get him out there before Giles got there and you were stood a little lost and now alone.
With a small frown, you looked around unsure what to do now, so you had settled for just going back home when you saw Giles rushing around a little breathless.
He was looked around, tensed and ready to spring into action but when he saw you on your own he relaxed a little, running a hand through his hair before coming over to you.
âI.. I thought you would be here with somebody.â He stuttered slightly.
âI was, but Spike vanished Iâm not sure where to so I was going to go home.â You sighed.
Giles could sense the sadness in your tone at both being abandoned and resigning yourself to go home.
He quickly shook his head.
âNo! No⊠no you donât need to go home, Iâll walk around with you.â He smiled softly.
Hearing the uncertainty in your tone Giles quickly backtracked slightly.
âO.. only only if you want me to! I donât have to! You donât have to stay or anything I wonât make you!â
A small smile spread across your face at his nervousness and you gently take his hand to stop him from rambling.
âI really want to stayâŠâ
Giles was frozen still for a moment before he smiled softly, nodding his head as he gently took your hand in his.
âOf course, have you eaten yet itâs getting quite late?â
You shake your head a little bit as you looked around.
âNo, I was trying to find somewhere that didnât have a long queue.â
Giles nodded, letting go of your hand briefly to take his jacket off and drape it over your shoulders, doing a few of the buttons on before placing his hand on your mid back.
âI saw a nice stall, it did those silly little pancakes you enjoy so much.â
