For my dad’s birthday, my brother compiled a bunch of oddly poetic, sparse emails that my dad has written over the years. I illustrated a few of them and he made them into cards.
Sketching some faces from the Sartorialist blog.
I started fostering a bun named Chipotle. He’s probably the ugliest bunny I’ve ever seen. I love him.
Went to the zoo with some sketching buddies. I need to take a figure drawing class for animals (especially big cats; none of my abysmal sketches of them made the cut).
Self portrait in watercolor. I thought it was missing something so I added those red dots and swirlies but honestly they kind of detract and are unnecessary.
Silly watercolor practice. This shit is hard.
Trying to start a self-portrait series. My series attempts are inevitably doomed to failure.
Made this for a benefit auction we had at work for the Sweet Iris campaign, which is a fundraising effort started by a Pixar family whose daughter, Iris, is suffering from a rare genetic disease called GM1 Gangliosidosis. They have been incredible at raising the money needed to move research forward, and the event was really inspiring to be a part of. So much great art and kind generosity.
Working on this made me realize how much I miss just sitting down and doing art. It’s the first finished piece I’ve done in yeeeaars--I forgot I could even take something to this level of completion. I’ve never been one to have the patience to work on something for weeks, but a good 20-hour chunk of pure, intense drawing can do wonders for the soul.
Made this for a coworker’s 20th work anniversary.
Crappy photos of an assignment I did for an Intro to Graphic Novel class I'm taking. We had to repurpose the "Jack and Jill" story in two-page comic book format. I'm not happy with the character designs and they're not consistent, and the drawing also progressively gets worse because it was 4am by the time I finished and I am a spritely young thing no longer.
This is basically what happens every time I decide to draw.

My original concept was much more elaborate, but meh.
