.☘︎ ݁˖— “Wait—YOU'VE NEVER HAD PIE?!” She gasps, someone who has never enjoyed the pleasures of one of the most amazing baked goods?! Pulling back her sleeves, she takes the satchel full of berries. She then grabs on his arm, not being particularly strong though pulling him towards her home—specifically the kitchen, where she had pie dough ready to be cooked.
“I must rectify this IMMEDIATELY! Come, I'll have it ready in a jiffy—Berry pie! Mixed berries go perfect with some vanilla ice cream as well!! Lets go uh—” She suddenly realizes she doesn't even know this dude. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to have him over… however, she had to correct this universal injustice. Gamma was watching anyways, and the guy seemed harmless enough.
.☘︎ ݁˖— “Ah, I'm so sorry—I forgot to ask in the hurry, what's your name? You look an awful lot like a cousin of mine.”
Was it that surprising??
He didn't resist her pull, though it did take him a moment to keep up with her. It was surprising, and he didn't understand any of the things she'd referenced. He knew natural things. Things that grew in the forest, fruits, vegetables. The most he could do was roast mushrooms, and even that was hit or miss because of his distaste for actual fire. Solely for survival.
"I do?"
Oh wait, she asked him a question.
"Oh! My name's Silver. Well, that's the name my best friend gave me, anyway. I thought it was because of how I look, but she said it was because I reminded her of stories of the moon. Never thought it'd be a real thing! Uh, anyway. If you want my official name, it's The Chrono Experiment. But nobody calls me that anymore."
Nobody but the scientists in his own timeline.
"I'm sorry, I don't mind going with you, but I really don't know anything you're talking about. I don't know a lot about things, but maybe someday I'll have the chance to really learn. For now, my focus is on finding a way to-- Say, have you heard of an entity called Iblis?"
@red-eclipse from X
"Okay, so baking something has to do with fire. But why would you bake berries? I understand things like mushrooms, but... well, I might as well trust you. You probably know more about it than I do."
The quizzical look on his face turns right back into a smile. Baked goods? Didn't exist to him. Not yet, anyway. No one had offered to cook for him. He didn't even realize he'd been wrong. He roasted mushrooms. Not baked them. Probably hadn't even seen an oven for himself, he'd never been inside someone's house. He camped outside.
What was the point in trying to get a house, even if he understood money in this timeline? He had a mission to complete. But that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy things here and there.
"What is a pie, anyway? It must be special if you can use berries."
He took off his satchel, handing it over to her. It was full to the brim with all kinds of fresh, delicious berries.
"Come on, the sun is rising! Let's dance around and laugh and have fun! The sunlight always gives me the energy to start a brand new day."
“Oh, I tend to sing a song with the moon no matter the weather. Even if I can only see the faint glow of her; yes, she's female in my opinion. Anyway, I talk with her too. 'Bout my day, my dreams, and anythin' that might be troublin' me.
I'm glad you don't think so--normally I don't share that with just anyone. They look at me odd, ya know?”
@psychokineticstarlight
"So the moon's a girl? Gosh, well now I know a better way to address her! She's so pretty, where I'm from, I'm not even sure if the moon still exists. For that matter, I'm not even sure if the sun still exists. But here... the sky is my favorite thing. It doesn't matter what time it is. And it makes me feel less silly, because I talk to everything!
My best friend, gosh, you're just as beautiful as she was. She had blonde hair too, only she had blue eyes. Her name was Claire, and she always told me that the world, even if it couldn't talk to you. Even if it was damaged, it could hear you. So I talk to flowers, I talk to the sky, trees, just about everything! It's like having a ton of friends, no matter where you go!"
"If spring is the season of love, then I must be the embodiment of spring. Love is the best thing a person can express, and it doesn't have to be the kind where people kiss each other. Sometimes I think of what it might be like to be that close to someone, but I'm happy spreading love to every single person I can by protecting them!
There are so many ways to show love! My best friend Claire taught me that. I wish she could have seen the past."
"Isn't it great to see everything green again? Leaves on trees? Is this what they call "Spring"? I feel like I could watch the clouds forever!"
"Sing a song with the moon. That's what I like to do on clear nights like this. Kind of like a harmony with nature. Even all the way up in the sky, I feel like the moon, and stars can hear us. Our hopes, our dreams, our deepest wishes.
And I don't think it's silly, or childish to believe in those things, either."
"Uhm... I dunno, Important people?"
It was a little hard to help out this guy when she herself was pretty clueless. Her own advice was really just based off conversations she had eavesdropped on and such. Most of the time she didn't really approach others unless she wanted something—
Wait, why was she helping out this guy again? Was she invested? At least this was more interesting than counting ants..
"I dunno that much about this stuff, or which people you should go to really. Again, there's only jerks around these parts. Sometimes you can keep insisting and insisting until you tire them out and get what you want from them—but for the most part, people will not help you unless there's something for them to gain. It's kinda how the world works."
Her words didn't really come from a place of malice, but more from her own experiences in a world that rejected her from the moment she came to be.
"I was hoping the world would be different in a time like this."
It didn't sound much different at all from the world he knew. Cruel people who were only after their own gain. But they had a reason. The world had come to an end. There was nothing beautiful, there was only danger, and disease.
"Why?"
Curiosity dripped off of his tongue. Maybe there was a hint of sadness, but he was more curious towards the why, than anything else.
"These people have such a beautiful world to live in. Why would anyone care about the gain they can get from others? Food grows on trees, and out of the ground. There's freshwater everywhere. Nobody needs to be so greed driven, so why? Why can't we all just do favors for each other in exchange for what we need? Maybe helping someone reach a tall place, or helping clean their house with them. Not only would that be better than expecting something, it would bring people closer together."
They took a brief moment to collect themself once their feet were touching the ground onde more. They gave a small nod, before walking into the building with him.
“Oh yeah, that's kinda, like, the purpose of these types of museums. To… preserve history, and all.”
They paused for a moment, halting in front of one of the exhibits. “… I guess it's interesting to think about these things, every now and then. It's… nice, in a way.”
They lightly leaned where they stood, looking down at him with a raised brow. “But surely that means little to a time traveller, doesn't it.”
He'd hold back his amusement. Who needed to preserve it, when he could just roll back in time and experience the real deal for himself? Though he did imagine this was safer this way. When the other spoke, a laugh was held back. It was as though they could read his mind!
"...Well, yes. If I wanted, I could go back to the time when these things were more than just bones, and study them that way. But there's also a danger factor, not just in what these huge... things, might be able to do. The stream of time is a delicate thing. Like a water source, it only takes a stone placed in the right location to change its course, and that'll in turn affect the future of the world you were just visiting moments ago.
That's why I have to be so careful."
"I don't always understand what people mean by time is going to change. Last I checked, it was still flowing like normal. Maybe there's a little time power in all of us."
It was... mesmerising, truthfully. They did get a pleasant breeze from up there, and feeling the hedgehog holding them tighter did reassure them.
And man, seeing him so at peace was rather nice as well.
They responded with a low hum of approval, before acknowledging his suggestion. “Yeah, that... that sounds like a good time, actually...!” It had been forever since they had taken the time to visit a museum. Even if that sounded rather mundane compared to the things Bedeku had seen Silver do, they were willing to indulge him. They couldn't say no to that smile.
The hedgehog began to descend, slowly. He didn't want it to feel like they were falling, rather he wanted it to be a gentle descent into the immediate area. The museum had all kinds of things that had to do with the past, and what people thought would exist in the future. Oh, the stories he could tell about the future, but no way was he bringing the mood down right now.
"Like a charm!"
He set the other down, gently, so that they had time to get on their feet properly.
"I'm pretty good at landings, too!"
He snapped his finger, and a psychokinetic flash from his hand, before all psychokinetic energy fades away.
"I don't know what it's called." A history museum. "But it's really cool! They've gone these things called bones from creatures that apparently existed in the past!"
Huge fire demon, coming from the future... it did sound hard to believe, she thought. But she was the eye of an ancient eldritch being that had been ripped apart from his decaying corpse and given sentience, so she wasn't one to discredit crazy concepts like these. Nobody would really believe her either, they would just get freaked out by her single eye and run.
As his expression changes to one of disappointment—and even though she didn't really get the joke—her feet suddenly leave the ground as she turns upside down in mid-air, floating. The alien crosses her arms and smiles.
"Two thousand two hundred and six, I think that's how that's pronounced."
"Maybe you have to try a different perspective! Believe me, most people around this time are just jerks anyways. I don't think randos on the streets or weird pieces of paper will tell you anything about this demon guy. Maybe aim higher?"
"That's the problem. I don't know where to aim."
He was just a little desperate. He was clueless, time traveling here and there in attempts to find a way to stop Iblis. But no matter where he went, nobody had even heard the demon in question. No matter who he asked, nothing. To save the world was his ultimate goal, do something to get rid of that beast.
The fact she was floating wasn't anything special to him, it wasn't like he couldn't do it too.
"I don't know how long I really have. My present is still going on, no matter how far back in the past I go. I haven't dared look at the future of my world, I already know where it's going. Iblis will just continue to destroy until there's no life left. Time travel is a really tricky thing. I have to be careful. But at this point, I don't know what else I should be doing."
A brow only rises at his request. Blaze didn't often smile, even in the brightest of times, much less in the hellscape that was Crisis City. Her eyes do light up with intrigue upon seeing the supplies the hedgehog had brought.
"Good work, Silver." The feline averts her gaze with the pause that followed. "I... wish I could say the same." She had initially left to search for answers, clues, even allies in the fight, should she dare hope that high. Unfortunately, every other survivor she encountered was too frightened to be of much help.
A sudden twitch of the nose that picked up the scent of burnt fur had Silver's statement, and its following compliment, fall on deaf ears. His posture is observed with narrowed eyes next, noting how it was affected by his efforts to keep the injured arm out of view.
"I suppose some of those supplies will come in handy sooner than expected. Come on, let me see."
"Really, it's nothing..."
But he did show her. She always knew. Silver wasn't sure if he was just bad at hiding things, or if Blaze had some kind of special sense. There was always something mysterious about his best friend, she could sense when Iblis revived. She could sense the Flames of Disaster, and he didn't know how. But then again, he didn't understand why he was blessed... or cursed, whichever you'd call it, with psychokinesis.
Everyone had something to deal with.
The burn itself was moderate. It hurt, but he was good at masking pain. It wasn't incredibly severe, but it wasn't minor in any way at the same time. He really needed to be more careful. He tried! It was just... there were flames near the medical box he'd stumbled upon, and he had to get it before the contents burned up.
A sigh.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to use up supplies on myself. Seems like you never get burned, is it because you're able to control the flames?"
“Ghhnh—!” They couldn't really contain that surprised groan upon finding themself being lifted off the ground, holding onto the hedgehog for dear life as he carried them, arms around his shoulders.
For a moment, they just seemed more focused on making sure that they wouldn't slip off his hold. Still, seeing how excited he looked… it was honestly endearing.
“W-well… I'll trust you know what you're doing.” Briefly gazing into his eyes, they showed a bit of a meek smile, before trying to focus on simply enjoying the ride. Even if they would instinctively tighten their hold onto him whenever their eyes went downward.
"Isn't the city beautiful from up here?"
He'd never get over it. The sight of buildings, proud and strong. A world where people weren't afraid of every little thing, and a world where people followed their dreams. This was what he wanted for his own, and he'd do anything to make it happen. Absolutely anything... he was certain. If he had to fight, he had to fight, sometimes you had to for the greater good.
"I really like it here. Flying helps me clear my mind, when the clouds are with me, and the sun is warming my face."
Tilting his head down, he looked at them, with the most kindest of smiles. This made him happy. Instinctively, he held a little tighter, even though he was certain he wouldn't drop them.
"There's this cool place called a museum in the southern district, it doesn't cost any money so I go there whenever I can. Do you wanna see it?"
Silver might just be a creature of his word. Of course, it's hard to trust others, but the ones that can be trusted are the type of allies that would give their life for others. It's important to be able to tell them apart as early in getting to know someone as possible.
Silver is gentle. While Simon hisses at the stinging, there is a grin on his face, so it can't be seriously harming him. It's a relief to be in a place where, at the moment, he can feel a bit safe, as well as knowing his wounds will recover safely.
"I was careless and allowed one to strike me from behind."
So the answer to that is a yes. He'd been snuck up on and the burn made him vulnerable enough to nearly lose his life in the fight.
As the bandaging starts, Simon's eyes close, making him appear even more hideously tired than usual. He's still and quiet for the treatment, as he's not only had to do it to himself plenty of times, but in the past, allowed others to do just as Silver is right now...
He has to admit to himself, he feels a lot better, both physically and mentally.
"Relieved."
What comes next truly surprises him. Silver wants to allow him to rest here? Simon would not have thought to even ask for something like that, but now that he's been offered it... well, the reasoning is sound.
"......If you'll allow it, I could certainly use a bit of rest......"
"That's always how it happens. Just one mistake. That's all it takes to lose everything."
But it made him happy, that there was some sense of relief. Ever since losing Claire, he was... afraid of losing, even those he didn't know anything about. That was why he fought to protect the human camps in Crisis City. That was why he wasn't brooding, wasn't angry for the way they treated him. She helped him see things from their perspective.
Sort of like a mediator. And she always showed him so much kindness.
"Of course you can stay here. Come on, I have a really special place for sleeping. I'll be really quiet while you rest."
Boots sound against the concrete floor, as he walks over to the right corner of the room, away from his shelf where he keeps all his supplies. There was a large bit of foam to lay on, better than a concrete floor. It was already hot, hardly any need for a blanket around here. His violin was perched not far from it, as this was often where he did his playing.
"You can stay here for as long as you want to."
Keyword in there. Want, not need.
— ;; WERE CONCERNS OF ATTRACTING ATTENTION not of importance at the moment, Chronos is certain he would have flipped out then and there, vociferous cries of exuberance and astonishment filling the cold winter air. Rather than making a fool of himself, however, he remains amply composed, leaning forward with wide glimmering eyes to observe the niveous masterpiece. Saving those fanboying screams for internally, or later in his pillow at least.
So cool...
❝Silver, that's incredible!❞ wagging tails flutter as he stands, trudging in the snow to circle the statue, ❝I can't imagine how long it must have taken for you to learn this! It's perfect!❞
— ;; PEEKING OUT FROM BEHIND THE sculpture, he gives a bit of a bashful laugh, before making his way back over.
❝Now I'm sad I can't take it home...❞ Arm outstretched for a handshake, surprisingly polite given his surly track record, he smiles down at Silver. ❝...I guess people mostly call me Chronos. But it's whatever.❞
"That's really nice of you to say! I guess when you live with it your whole life, it's really not that special anymore."
Chronos was a fascinating name. He'd never heard one like it. But bringing joy to others, it was something he wanted to do. Ever since Claire had shown him kindness, it warmed his heart, and he wanted to spread it around.
"I don't think it's whatever. I think it's unique."
He accepted the handshake, which was still a bit foreign to him. Such a greeting didn't exist in his time period, but he'd learned a few things since coming to the past.
"I can do more than that! I've been working on art since I learned to manifest energy!"
He waved his arm slowly, and his hand created a trail that was glowing as bright as a comet's tail, as though his hand was a space rock passing by the sun.
"I bet you can do some cool things too! What do you like to do for fun?"
