Meeting Luke was like riding a rollercoaster. The highs were highs and the lows were low.
So many times you thought about getting off but you never seemed like you could. He always pulled you back in.
The life you always dreamed about with him was one the main reasons you alway stayed. You wanted everything this world had to offer with him.
You thought maybe he would mellow out and be able to actually put the past behind him. But little did you know what that would take.
You felt bad though because he did quit being a rider for you. He was tired of being away from you for so long
. His nights on the road were just getting longer. He felt this longing like there was something missing from his life.
He watched as everyone around started having families and moving on and here he was just stuck on the same ride over and over.
But he was stuck in a rock and a hard place. How he always felt like he was destinated for something more in this world.
Though he quickly realized that life was crushing those dreams short. He had no money , no education and no real job experience. This was the only life that he had ever known.
So what was he going to do ? Live in a little trailer and live off the tiny money you made down at the diner.
You were working on putting yourself through school. Trying to make a different life for yourself. He was always proud of you for achieving your dreams and working hard.
But he knew he had to something for himself. He didn’t wanna on rely on you , he felt like he was the man he had to provide for you. Even though you told him countless time you would take care of him until he found his own way.
You mainly just wanted him home. Coming home to an empty bed every night was rough and lonely. You felt like you were basically single.
So one night you had a heart to heart with him. And you basically told him that you wanted him to come home or you couldn’t stay anymore.
" I love you Luke you know that right and I am always so greatful you gave up riding out there for me but I need you to actually be here with me not just a empty shell" You cried to him on the pinic table outside.
It was where it seemed like all of your biggest heart to hearts happened with him. At night under the glow of the string lights.
"I know I promise I'm working on something you know me I got you" Was all he said as he held you in his arms as he always did.
Even he knew it was time for him to come out of the cage and be free.
The adjustment period for him was hard. He wasn’t used to sitting at home and not really doing anything.
But you were happy to have him home. It was the happiest you had been in a while.
After a couple of months you thought he would be more settled but he wasn’t.
Now you know what they meant by the honeymoon phase.
In the beginning he struggled to find his place. He would be out for long nights on his bike. God knows where he would just ride he would tell you.
Then he meant and worked with this guy named Robin. You thought it would be good for him to have some kind of purpose.
He got to work with cars and make some money of his own again. But then after a couple of months things changed.
He became more and more paranoid. He kept looking over his shoulder like he was afraid someone was watching him. You tried asking him about it but he always seemed to brush you off.
You didn’t want to push him to much because you were afraid of scaring him off. You didn’t want him to just run off again.
Every single time things got hard and he ran off to his bike a piece of you broke
. You would stay up until he got home just to make sure he was alive. The he would come home and just pretend like nothing ever happened.
You thought him working with Robin would change him for the better but that didn’t pan out.
You did reach out to him to see what was going on with Luke. But he just brushed you off saying it was work and you had nothing to worry about.
Maybe that was true you hoped. That he was just someone who was meant to be out there.
Someone who didn’t live like you did. But when you would stay up waiting for him you would see watch the news.
The police was looking for two masked robbers who was robbing banks and getting off on motorcycles. You just had a bad gut feeling about it. It was like deep down you knew but you just didn’t want to admit it.
You knew he had his stuff but this ? This all just seemed like a little much even for him
One day you had come home a little early from work and he was standing in the room.
He was hiding something away behind the boards in the wall. His back was covering it so you couldn’t see what it was but your suspicions had been confirmed. Your heart just broke because wasn’t just risking his future but yours together
You walked over to him and he was to busy doing what ever he was doing to even notice you were there.
“Hey what the hell is going on” You asked.
He nearly jumped out of his skin and when he turned around his face was ghost white. He had a bag of money that he was hiding.
“Where did you get this” You yelled to him.
“Just working okay i sold a car” He said nonchalantly
“Stop lying to me what is going on really” You pleaded with him.
He just looked at you with a sad look on his face. He looked at you like he wasn’t sure his next steps were going to be. So you decided that you needed to take them.
“I saw it on the news you know about the bank robbers the ones who left on motorcycles” you said
He didn’t say anything he didn’t have to the look on his face gave everything away. You didn’t know what to say or what to do. He was just standing there reading the look on your face as he was trying to figure out what you were going to do or say.
“I’m not going to apologize I did what I had to do” He said
“What the hell does that mean” You asked in a defensive manner” You said
“We need the money I did this for you for us for our future” He said
“By stealing by hurting people by breaking the law I didn’t ask for this we would have found a way we were going to be okay” You said. You could feel the anger and the tears falling down your face.
“Listen i know your in school and I know your working your hardest out there i really know you are but you have to realize how much we needed this and how much we were struggling” he said.
“You know I would do anything for you and no one got hurt I made sure of that this, this is going to make everything we wanted come true for us we can pack up and go wherever we want we can start over and start a new life together” He said , he was basically pleading with you.
You didn’t even know what to say or what you should say. So you just turned around and ran outside. There was a little picnic table to the side of the house. You ran over to it and sat down on top of it.
Your head was spinning and you couldn’t seem to catch your breath.
Were you overthinking this ? I mean he didn’t kill anyone, no one got hurt and he did this to help. But on the other hand this wasn’t anything new it was just one more thing added to the already growing list.
He was always reckless he always just did what ever he wanted and he never thought about anything else after that. What if he got caught ? What if he went to Jail ? Or worse you couldn’t even think about that.
It was just one thing after another and everything felt like it was just becoming to much. You were so in your head you didn’t even notice he had walked outside and over to you.
“Hey I’m sorry okay I only did this for us because I wanted us to have a chance together you know, give you everything you ever wanted” He said.
You looked up at him and he was upset you could see it all over his face. You struggled to find the right words.
“ I can’t you know it’s always one big thing after another you just do what you want and then think about it after I can’t keep worrying about you I can’t loose you” You said .
He sat down next to you and he pulled you into his chest. He wrapped his arms around you and placed his head on top of yours. You could hear his heart beating and he always made you feel safe when he held you like this.
“I’m sorry okay I am I promise from here on out things change I got enough saved for you to finish school and we leave we go where ever you want I just wanna be with you that’s all I want” He said.
“How can I believe that you won’t just go out and do it again? How can I trust that you're going to settle down” You said.
“I know it’s hard to believe now but trust me I love you I’ll do anything to prove it” He said.
“Okay , I love you” Was all you were able to say.
You didn’t know he was telling the truth or just saying what you wanted to hear. You knew that normal relationships weren’t like this. There weren't so many ups and downs. Communication was always open.
But you truly did love him. Through the bad, the good and everything between. There wasn't anyone else you could picture yourself with.
You could just imagine the new beginning with him being able to settle down and work the job you love and come home to the man you love.
But there was also a small part of you that wondered if it was ever a possibility.
Would he really change or would it all come crashing down like it always had? I guess one more ride wouldn’t hurt for him. It was worth

i can't confirm whether or not the interior is completely the same because in 2018 it closed after being purchased for renovations. it only reopened a little bit after the height of the pandemic. all i know is that a window and metal railing were added to the backside shown here
