another thing about steves ending thats so baffling is how they keep calling it a “happy”  ending for HIM when like it literally sounds like a NIGHTMARE. your wifes going to work Every Day dealing with SO much and you just sit back and watch bc you CANT do shit Knowing its all for NOTHING bc hydra has been infiltrating her organization the whole time??? you wake up every day and you Know your best friend is getting tortured right that EXACT minute, and you just continue having breakfast or whatever??? like knowing steve, how does he literally NOT go insane?? that sounds like a prison where you just have to watch while every regret you ever had plays out in front of you every day. HOW is this a Good ending for him??? and theres no alternate timeline where he fixed everything bc he settled down and grew old in the SAME timeline so it really is just an entire mess

also what kind of selfish Bullshit was the “undo the snap but keep the last five years” ??? like! how many people died or were otherwise irreversibly traumatized by the direct consequences of the snap? either by suicide or neglect or access to resources or being stranded after society’s inevitable collapse? how are you going to have a society where half the people dont remember the snap and the other have been living with them gone for five years??? how are you going to bring back half the population into a universe that changed for five years as if they’ll fit back in perfectly? they dont matter? we can only undo exactly what the snap did? just cause you managed to land on your feet and now are the most stable and happy you’ve ever been? and nobody calls him out!!! they all just agree immediately as if there’s no problem whatsoever!!

like a more interesting character arc would have been that tony has to choose between his idyllic little life hes made and saving half of the universe, and then living with the consequence of that choice, instead of trying to get the best of both worlds for himself and then at the very end being like, oh man, i gotta heroically sacrifice myself :///

one of my biggest gripes with the movie was that the relationships that have been consistently the most pivotal for character development and plot were unfulfilling or straight-up nonexistent, like

all three cap movies literally center around steve & bucky’s relationship and how far steve’s willing to go for bucky and like. they had probably a whole minute of scenes together across both iw and eg. how do you do that. how do you have steve ignore his past three movies and just peace out at the end. haha we used the same dialogue do u remember??? now steves gonna fuck off forever even though hes had bucky back for like. a day (dont get me started on sam either) 

the thor movies also have a preeetty important subplot of thor & loki’s relationship?? and i s2g eg had thor barely imply that he’s dead, let alone even mention him once? not to mention barely touching on the fact he lost his dad & then entire planet in the span of a couple of days??? before thanos???? it was all kind of swept up into “yeah we all feel bad bc the snap” and just completely ignored

gamora and nebula got a little more interaction, if that, and though it developed comparatively more than others it was ultimately not really important and just kind of there. and we started from before all the development of gotg2 (basically the main redeeming quality of that movie) so we’re moving way backwards before barely inching a little forwards. it should have been fckign pivotal as they literally are the most important characters in regards to thanos but like nah. maybe a three sentence conversation and then we move on
