2 / 3 . d a i l y . l i f e . Shows the building in every-day use. Midday / Sunset scene. I wanted to show more of the interiors but the angle wasn't helping. If I have time to add changes I will try and get the shadows done as well as adding more of the structure that got missed.

The first of 3 drawings, mainly illustrative of the initial construction phase of the building only showing the super structure and modules. I still need to play with the colour scheme to fit the other drawings.
It kind of looks empty because I still need to add shadows for people and objects etc.
s e c t i o n . u p d a t e . Hand-drawn section of housing modules. I wanted to add some colour without colouring everything. I still need to add the Temple behind te section and the surrounding buildings on the side. Also might be doing more areas that are coloured and have people / movement
perspective plan . Quick study of a housing module to show the domestic spaces in depth. To add to this, I'm going to add a light outline of a person to show interaction and movement in the space.
courtyard, night-time scene with rain one thing I forgot to add is the rain coming down the rain chains. I also want this image to match the style and colour palette of the previous image but still lean towards a blue / teal tone
re-edited final illustration - I wanted to make it feel a bit more cinematic, add some more atmospheric qualities and match the colour tone wiith the overall tone of the movie The Minority Report. In some areas the colour is musky and warm, but there is a constant Teal overlay throughout the film.

s c e n e . t w o . Courtyard between housing. The ground floor of all the units are commercial spaces for any businesses that the occupants have. This area turns into a mini communal space that is free of any building services. At the north side of the building is the community temple where visitors can buy offerings and souvenirs and then make their way up the building.

The project is a mixed-use building in the heart of the Vietnamese community in Shoreditch which features housing, commercial spaces and a community temple. From the initial project Domestic Dioramas, the themes of surveillance and congested domestic spaces and their relationships with the occupants were examined through the film Minority report. Supporting this with the architecture of Vietnam and vertical, narrow living helped identify the language of the housing portion of the project. Ideally, the Vietnamese immigrant occupants will be able to run their businesses without the need for unpleasant ‘back of house’ spaces and live above in modular housing units that are completely adaptable and personalised. The building skin focuses on pulling out building services to the façade in an organised and celebrated manner, leaving the interior free and open plan. The drivers for the project leaned towards sustainable materiality and methods throughout the building. The modular components can be added to vertically over time and extra spaces such as balconies are optional. The housing works in conjunction with the Temple which is open to the public and is integrated on a smaller scale within each unit. The building provides a designated cultural space for the Vietnamese community where occupants work throughout the year for an annual festival and lets visitors experience a pilgrimage in the Temple.
s c e n e . o n e . This image shows the service skin / balcony of the modular units. The balcony doors are left open so that the interior is visible. I used a two point perspective so that the objects aren't too rigid. The colour scheme references Dutch interior paintings with a green tint. The composition was supposed to be layerd but I think this is fine.
