If you are exploring different options for the Machu Picchu trips, chances are good that there are at least considering a trek on the Inca trail. This is a popular way to get to the famous mountain city of the Incas. Before you get there, however, we explore some options less time. The most popular way to reach the mountain town, by far, is by train. A run of four hours from Cusco offers travelers the time to enjoy the beautiful scenery of green mountains and villages of hill. Another important option to Machu Picchu trip is a short train ride, starting from the ancient town of Ollantaytambo. Other options include buses, and for an unforgettable visit, a helicopter flight from one of the city from above. For the travel experience more engaging, however, you'll want to consider a trek along the famous Inca Trail. A journey on foot along this path will allow you to understand more fully the Inca culture, to witness the majestic beauty of the Andes and the Inca ruins, and contemplate the amazing accomplishment to build Machu Picchu. These trips usually last four days, culminating with a visit to the Inca mountain city. Paths along this path have become very popular, and consequently there is a good infrastructure that works to support trekking to Machu Picchu trips. This provides many options for dining and lodging along the route. To plan your journey, however, we suggest going with a tour operator conducting tours on this route. Selecting a travel company can be a very difficult decision. While I'm not going to make any specific recommendation, I can give some advice. First, we want to make sure that your operator is licensed. Many companies claim to make excursions, but not all are authorized by the Peruvian government to do so. So you must be careful when hunting at the best price. If you see a tour operator that offers lower prices to around U.S. $ 450 for a complete trekking, proceed with caution. Chances are that, in order to offer a price so low, the company will cut costs in some way, often breaking the law to do so. Most commonly, these companies will be breaking minimum wage laws, or that require employees to carry too much load on their excursions. Carefully consider whether you want to do business with a company that behaves in this way. And keep in mind as you plan your trip Machu Picchu, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience - do not really want to cut corners? Go "all in" full experience, and never forget this wonderful historic site.
