[ A sigh, and then a small nod. ]
“—Okay, good.”
[ She looked down, then back up at the stranger. ]
“Um, ma-maybe you can stay with us? But I don’t know… My dad doesn’t really like strangers, because of this mean guy named Carver. He’s… He’s been looking for us. Do you know him?”
{ -- Amy couldn't repress the grin that was soon painted upon her lips, genuine generosity and innocence didn't seem to exist any more. This girl however, she seemed untainted by the nightmare that they were living in.
" -- I appreciate the offer, but I'm not sure your dad would appreciate that very much. Thank you though... Really" Despite her longing for another group the girl had learnt from her mistakes, company meant getting attached, and that meant getting hurt. She couldn't let herself go through that. Not again...
The light hearted conversation seemed to shift with the mention of the unfamiliar name. The fear in the fellow survivors eyes becoming apparent with every word.
" Never heard of him... -- Why is he looking for you? "
It was a bold question, perhaps it was none of her business though curiosity was something that often got the best of the British girl.

“—No…”
[ She looked up at her from trying to open the can, and looked back towards the cabin. ]
“My dad’s in there. And the rest of the people I’m with…”
[ How could she forget? She was running from Carver. What if this girl was someone he sent to look for them? She seemed nice, but… ]
“A-Are you alone? You’re not bad, right?”
{ -- She took a steb backwards at the mention of others, she was easily outnumbered, the last thing the scrawny teen wanted was trouble. At least not now, she wasn't in the best of states. Eyes soon followed the girls glance, a hand tightening on the grip of her gun, she had no intention of harming the stranger under any circumstances though the thought of protective parents wasn't the most pleasant.
" -- You're safe then? " Despite her fear Amy couldn't help but feel slight relief, unsure if she could have handled a younger companion, it was hard enough feeding herself though leaving someone behind wasn't something the English girl was capable of.
" -- N-No, I'm not bad. Don't worry... I'm not going to hurt you... "

“—I found this can of peaches in my backpack… Do you think it’s old…?”
{ -- A look of disbelief soon spread on worn features, it was rare she saw anyone alone, never mind someone this young, the girl didn't seem to have any ill intentions causing the teenager to lower her gun, she wasn't the type of person to scare a little girl. Perhaps this made her easily fooled...
" -- Looks good to me" the English teen reassured the stranger. A hazel gaze falling from the survivor before her to study their surroundings in an attempt to find whoever was accompanying her.
" -- You're not alone... are you?"

We were told to stay indoors. All television and radio stations are just repeating the same things, there haven't been any updates for at least 3 weeks. They said it was an epidemic, a disease, that it will only be a matter of time before it will just end. I believed it at first, though the state of blissful ignorance that still seems to consume many of those around me faded fast. I suppose that's mainly because of Brogan and Kyle, even within the first week they were sceptical, as the others waited for the army to come and save us they started boarding the doors and windows with the help of Frazer. I should have listened sooner... I know that now.
I didn't realize the severity of the situation until I saw the first one of those... things.
It was late at night, the streets as eerily empty as they had been before, until Maisie started crying, it seemed to echo through the once silent streets. It got everyone's attention, waking the few people that had actually managed to sleep within the walls of the Hampton Inn. That's when I heard it, something being thrown against the door downstairs. I didn't realize it was someone's body. Not at first. The news had said to stay clear of anyone "infected" as the disease had made them delusional and often aggressive, as well as being highly contagious.
It sounded human while groaned and cried at the entrance of our small hotel, desperate to get inside. I shouted out to them from an open window, wondering if they needed help, they looked as though they were injured. It wasn't...
They It then shifted it's attention to me. That was when I realized that what was glaring up at me, whoever or whatever it was was far from human. At least not any more, eyes a dull silver, it's distorted and decaying form obvious even in darkness. A monster stood before me. I didn't scream. Just froze. After that I stopped lying to myself, the naive and hopeful barrier I had surrounded myself with beginning to crumble and instead of fixing it with hope I simply allowed it to fall, leaving me vulnerable to the truth that had been in front of me the entire time.
I gave up on the hope of the military. I gave up on the hope of the virus coming to an end. I gave up on the authorities all together, people often called the police, they barely responded and the ones that did ended up dead or fleeing on arrival. We're on our own. Electricity is almost gone, it comes and goes in weak waves, radio and telephone signals becoming mostly useless. Though not once did I ever manage to get in touch with home. Nor has Kyle or Frazer. There is no way this thing, whatever it is could have reached England, it can't have...
Not a day has passed that I haven't thought of Mum or Zoe... Aunty Shan... Grace... Granddad... Having Kyle and Frazer here helps. We need to stick together until we get home. Robin has been trying to find flights back home. She's had no luck. At least not yet. Assuming that no one will be let out of the country until there is a cure in an attempt to prevent the spreading of disease. We're a team, all of us, Kyle, Frazer, Charlie, Ash, Robin, Brogan and me. We have each other. At least we can find comfort in that.
We have learnt from past mistakes, sound and light being the main things that draws the attention of those monsters, we have tried to ration what little supplies we've obtained, Kyle, Brogan and some others have been the ones going out to gather. Frazer wanted to go but I wouldn't let him. I knew there was no preventing Kyle going, he's too stubborn, but I know I at least have a chance at protecting Frazer, he treats me more as an equal than someone he needs to defend and shelter. Not everyone has returned... It's hard to keep track of food with the amount of people we have, some seem dishonest and selfish yet Maisie and Helen have been made the priority, Helen is 8 months pregnant and Maisie just 2 years old, she is safe, unlike her father, he hasn't been seen since he was separated from Kyle when getting food from an empty supermarket nearby, they went back for him, but there was no sign..
Clean water is still running despite the absence of power, but we boil it before use to be safe. We have started putting it into bottles just in case, it's only a matter of time before it stops. I don't feel prepared for what's out there, but I know we have to face it at some point, we can't stay here forever...
I'm still praying this will all just end. I don't want to be here any more. no one does.
There were 19 of us originally, then 15. Now 12. Some people left for good, others left with every intention of coming back and never returned... I couldn't tell you the names of those we have lost. I won't let that happen again, I'm determined to keep track of those who we know. I won't let anyone else be forgotten...

☣ “Hey!
You got any comics that I can have?”
{ -- The voice caught the teenager off guard, unable to find the source of the sound at first, her grip tightening on the cold metal of her firearm. Raising an eyebrow in question as her eyes met that of a stranger.
This girl seemed younger than her, though she wouldn't make the mistake of underestimating her.
Casual conversation was hardly something the English girl was used to. Not any more, the strange request painting a slight smirk on pale features.
" -- I can't say I do, sorry to disappoint."

"She found me not too long ago”
The boy answered while studying her body language.
It seemed he was just making her a bit more nervous, and
he had to figure out how to calm her down in case some
sort of commotion begins.
”I’ve been here for over a week, I stay up in the second floor.
The reason why most of you never see me is that I’m… I’m not
that good with people for certain reasons.. Look, if you don’t
believe me, you can go ask her yourself.”
{ -- She continued to stare at him, her guard falling slightly, if he couldn't be trusted then someone like Julia definitely wouldn't have him around. Though she wasn't certain of his intentions yet.
not that good with people for certain reasons... She wondered if he was being intentionally vague, unable to stop herself wondering what the reasons could be. There was a silence between them for a moment before the English girl spoke once more.
" -- What's your name? " another to add to the list of survivors she'd known. Good or bad. A list that seemed shorter with the passing days.
" -- I'm Amy... "
