Though most of us try to drizzle most of our time, hard-earned money, sweat, and blood to build an everlasting partnership with our horses, we miss it or overdo it. All our attempts to keep our horses happy and healthy seem to fall short at times.

Alas! Lesser do we know about the secrets of maintaining horses for longevity and performance.

Many performance horses are laid up at least once in their span because of musculoskeletal injuries or are retired before time. Is maintaining longevity so testing to achieve in our equine athletes?

Well! It is not. Here are a few simple ways to prevent injuries and maintain the health of your performance horse and ensure that they are unstoppable as long as possible:

Healthy and Peaceful Ambiances

Being herd creatures, horses are believed to cover more than 25 miles/day while foraging for around 18 hours/day. Already bereft of meadows the performance horses are at stake of losing their mental wellbeing. In that case, confining them to a 12’x12’ stall is not at all a good idea.

So, it is best to keep them together in an open area and in case one cannot afford this luxury for their horses, these must be given at least 10 hrs of turnout with the freedom to access apposite fodder.
