Just yesterday I was thinking about Guilfi's powers again. He didn't really get to choose what his first power will be, his power came about from emergency necessity. Santa says that an elf gets to choose what power they have once they are old enough and told him to come up with something that would help them and Guilfi, being Guilfi and also pretty savy in general, solves the problem by giving himself the most logical power he could in that moment and that was telekenisis. It was the most obvious solution and one of the only ones he could have chosen. Would he have still chosen telekenisis had he been able to choose himself in a moment where he was entirely free to do so without a threat hanging over their heads? Or are all the Elves' powers forged during moments of crisis? If so, what does that say about Thoren? Did Thoren have a say in all three powers she recieved the older she got or where they forged from necessity too? The elves are in peril a lot, I would not put it past her that she's just had a lot of close calls in the centuries she's worked for Santa. Are the powers they all have really powers they chose or are they all just means of survival against the dangers of their job, being granted to them when there is no other option?
I guess my question is just "Is Guilfi the rule or the exception?"
