The Golden Age of Airbenders. I painted these images for the flashback scene in Avatar Aang, showing Sonam and Tagah in their heyday.
My biggest takeaway from looking at people talk about the new Avatar movie (and the series in general), is that if at any point they describe the avatar universe as a “Verse” you’re about to see some absolutely nonsense opinions.
My painting of Sonam’s temple for Avatar Aang. Much of the work I did on this film was developing the style for the ancient flashback sequences!
Just finished watching the new Avatar movie, I had a really great time.
The voice acting was pretty weak overall, especially for the old man flashbacks (Gyatso and Roku just sounded bad), but the main cast wasn't super distracting for me.
Animation wise it is as gorgeous as you would expect and it's a very funny movie, despite what that one leaked clip would suggest.
Is it perfect? no, not at all. It's a sort of inherently flawed interquel that needed like 20 more minutes and another pass at the dialogue minimum, but it's still a wonderful watch.
One of the most baffling things is that there is a side character who's pretty important, but I think they say her name 0-1 times in the entire movie and she gets a panel in the credits before Zuko, which like, isn't a major issue, it's just weird.
$80 for GTA 6, physical version doesn't even come with a disc, and most of the game is paywalled behind the ultimate edition
it's a box with a piece of paper that has a code for you to download the game online. wasting copious amounts of paper AND plastic basically
They did the same thing for the re-release of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I didn't even know there wouldn't be a game chip until I opened the box, and then the code inside didn't even work! I've never had things fuck up this bad straight away for a physical release or a regular digital download, and in the end I had to spend like an hour with Target customer service to get a new game code. IDK if this is a common problem with this type of release but, like, just another crazy element of the problem.
Not to divert too much from the actual point here, but TTYDHD did get a proper physical release. Some retailers (target, gamestop, amazon, etc) will gladly sell you a digital code to a game, but that's unrelated to the Code-in-a-box thing that Rockstar is trying to pull here. Retailers have been selling codes individually in store and online since at the very least the PS4, but probably had those little eshop/PSN/XBLA cards for individual games back in the 360 era too.
If Target literally sold you an empty TTYD box instead of just printing a code on a recipt, or failing to do so apparently, that is a major Target fuck-up though.
Oh, thanks for the clarification! Yeah, Target really did sell me a code that didn't work, but sounds like that's an unrelated problem.
The code not working at all is wild, but happy to clear things up. Nintendo gets yelled at enough for the things it is actually doing, no point getting mad at them for the things that aren’t even their fault.

I’m really happy that we finally have a Star Force Legacy collection, replaying 1 an 2 has been really fun, and I’m loving having 3 as a fresh new experience since I don’t remember it at all.
But with how good these games are, and with how much better in most ways anyway each game is over the last, I’m really annoying that it has been damn near 18 years since the last Mega Man RPG.
I get that the sales fell off a cliff and they somehow managed to sell poorly on the DS of all systems, but I would’ve loved to see what this team would’ve cooked up next.
I want to see the awkward 3DS game that doesn’t quite nail the 3D overworld aspect, I want to see the how capcom would’ve tied BrotherBands to Streetpass, I want to get a headache trying to look at combat with the 3D effect on where Geo pops out of the screen and the back ranks look far away.
I want to see the switch Star Force game that wipes the floor with the Switch Pokémon games in performance, story, graphics, and gameplay.
I want to see what the 3rd series in the BN timeline and how Capcom evolves the combat again.
The more I play Megaman Star Force, the more I feel like it would fit better in a high school rather than an elementary school…
I stand by this opinion from over a decade ago.
I never really had issues landing counters in SF1, but I feel like a decent number of the enemies just have really bad counter windows.
The Vulcan enemies get countered when they start winding up instead of when they fire, but I think that's fine
The Uppercut enemies seem to have a counter window after their punch, which is counter intuitive, but maybe the window is big enough that I can walk away and then back into their range to get it.
The Puff Ball enemies also have a counter well after their attack actually starts, but as a ranged enemy who attacks tiles on a delay it's not really that hard to punish.
The one that really gets me is the stupid needle bird who seems to be able to get their first projectile out even when I land a counter on them, so I just get hit by wood damage and lose my Zerker form for having the audacity to counter them.
I’ve just started SF2, and I know it’s the weakest of the trilogy, but the production value jump I’m noticing in the first minutes is already wild.
Dialogue scenes are snappier, the screen shake is used to good comedic effect, the presentation of the Wave Roads are really cool, the battle grid has more of an identity compared to the BN Squares, the transformation animation is spectacular, Omega-xis following you around when wearing the visualizer is an excellent detail.
This just makes me more excited to get to SF3 where the production values will be even better, but attached to a considerably better game.
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve shot a preteen MegaMan into space to fight a world ending horror, I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it’s happened twice
Does anybody actually like or use the grenade items in Battle Network or Star Force? I feel like the first thing I do in any game is remove them from my deck and slap literally anything else in their place.
There’s a little guy inside of your self driving car who sucks at his job.
Capcom really were visionaries
the 2nd good pvz game was garden warfare, the 3rd was garden warfare 2
That's fair. I have nothing against the Third Person Shooters, I bet they are fun enough games on their own right, but they are very much their own thing.
What I meant in that tag was that I thought that PVZR was going to be the 2nd good true PVZ game, and I was wrong about that.
If we're being really pedantic, PVZ DS and PVZ Console are both good as far as I know, and at least Replanted doesn't have microtransactions and ads for lawnmowers like mobile, so I'm not even sure if PVZR gets the title as the worst PVZ1 game.
popcap faking concept art for the pvz remake is really funny because not only does it defeat the purpose of including concept art in your game as an unlockable (not having to do extra work) you could not possibly pick a worse game to play that hustle on. there are four people in the original credits and One of them did the art
this plan's flawless, we just need the sole artist to never check twitter for the rest of his life and also for nobody in the entire world to google the extremely public legal trouble we got for one of the designs that happened post-launch ever again
In case you were wondering if the Fire Emblem Among Us auto-battler that just shadow dropped is something special.
And lemme tell ya, it certainly is something
