I don't think I agree anymore with the sentiment of "the world is getting worse". I think the world has always been sick and depraved since Eve took a bite of that forbidden fruit. Sin has been passed on to all of us, so embedded into our very being, and the only cure is Christ. Not behavioral modification. Not a good education, or a good childhood. Not a change of political parties.
There is nothing new under the sun. Sin just gets repackaged into different things, but it is still the same old thing. Man (without Christ) is capable of great evil, as we all have seen throughout the history of mankind. Only the grace of God restrains his hand.
And yet, Christ can totally transform a sin-sick heart. Nothing else. And so this Gospel ought to be preached—boldly, unashamedly, vehemently—in spite of the evil that ferociously tries to silence its power.
And try it will. It could look like losing friends and family, or your job and financial stability. It could look like death.
But to live is Christ and to die is gain. This gift propels and empowers us to stand upon the truth no matter the cost, even if it costs us our life, because either way, we win. The world can kill us and they'll rejoice thinking we've lost, but all death can do is usher us into the arms of our Savior.
Lose everything, and you still gain Christ. So preach the Gospel. Refute ideologies that thwart God's creation and make a mockery of Him. Protect the defenseless and the voiceless. Work unto the Lord. Love your family and raise your children in the knowledge of God.
To live is Christ. To die is gain. We can say this only because of what Christ has done.
