I’ve always lived my relationships day to day. And I’ve always been in long term relationships. I’ve been in this one for ten years. We’re not married, I can’t. I don’t know why, the idea really scares my independence. I make no plans, I promise nothing. And I want no promises. I like to live one day after another. - I like to wake up every morning and have the nice surprise of still having my man next to me. Everybody knows it’s almost not possible to keep the kind of promises people say to each other. It makes me feel free as well to think that way. I feel I can still run away. And I like that feeling. I feel free of loving him because I choose to every morning. - Nothing is for sure and that is the beauty of it to me. It is not acquired. He might wake up and not love me anymore today, so I have to give him reasons for loving me every day. It is not a game, I just happen to do it because it feels natural that way. - I am not interested in daily things so much. We don’t argue on little things. People do as they want. It is important to let people be and breathe. Life is much easier that way and it gived me much more credibility when I have something that I dislike and want to talk about it…
Caroline de Maigret’s philosophy on relationships (for BLK DNM)
She was one of those languid women, made of dark honey, smooth and sweet, and terribly sticky, who take control of a room with a syrupy gesture, a toss of the hair, a single slow whiplash of the eyes- and all the while remain as still as the centre of a hurricane, apparently unaware of the force of gravity by which they irresistibly attract themselves the yearnings and the souls of both men and women.
