While testing outfit options for a wild west LARP I had a chance to dress up how my Frostpunk character Charlotte would look before the frost. Ignore of course the lack of proper victorian structure and corset but the vibe is very much there.
She's perfectly unhappy and plotting everyone's demise
So, Frankenstein was a beautiful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sets, outfits, framing and lightning were amazing, the creature can make you root for him and be scary at the same time, and Victor goes very well from a man with a passion, to a man so flawed and abusive.
I also greatly enjoyed the symbolism and I need to ramble about it so, spoilers and overthinking on symbolism under the cut!
CAREFUL OF SPOILERS!
- The use of circles, this I know from an interview with Del Toro, there's intentional use of circles in windows, framing, batteries and all to signify circle of life and death but also circles of generarional abuse.
- head of medusa, also from an interview, a misunderstood monster but also a creature turning other to stone, as opposed to Victor who turned a dead body into a living
- Red in outfits. Now here I was wondering. Is it marked by death? (Mother) Is it the blood on the hands? (Red gloves of Victor mostly but also Harlander on some promo art?).
Im thinking red, as blood is the color of life. We see it on the mother, who is Victor's whole life, we see it on him after her death. We see it in red sheets on the bed - there's more around little William, than around Victor because the younger is more full of life.
There's some red on Elizabeth, but never a lot, mostly a necklace around her neck. Most red she has is when she is dying in the arms of the creature.
And there's red sheets on Victor when he first meets the creature, contrasting with it. The creature never wears red, maybe because it's not truly living yet? Because others and itself see it only as a monster.
- Elizabeth's insect outfits. Now this is something my friend @sardolutra pointed out, how she wears dresses that remind us of the insects she loves, and she has the most shiny, opalescent, beetle like green dress when she meets the Creature. She is the most like the littlest and the least important that fascinates her when she meets him! The most like *creatures*!
- the wedding party. Every woman has a white gown and a veil, the people generally look like ghosts in that scene. I wonder what's that about. Are they ghosts that haunt Victor? Are they like that to underline the contrast between them and the creature - who is cursed to live and caged in the most earthly flesh?
Probably more to come when I watch it again. I love symbolism like that so much.
One of my big illustrations for Shattered Plains project needed a detour, to explore inhabitants of warcamps.
Those aren’t any particular characters, just npcs of higher and lower class, along with a travelling thaylen merchant.
I approached also the parshmen, but didn’t quite fit into the stylised style I’m going for, so they were scrapped. I’ll draw them again, better.
I reached 700 watchers! After a long time hanging Stormlight Archive posts is what brings so much activity to this blog, thank you all, wonderful people!
Because of you all I decided to start posting my diploma project as it is being created. Here is what I have for shattered plains concept art. The last one was a kind of style experiment that I liked the result, but scrapped in the end anyways, knowing I won’t be able to pull it off well when designing the warcamp.
I am also only half happy with the inside of the chasm art - the color gradation came out just like I wanted, but I have a feeling it all could be more monumental.
I always struggle with faces from the side, because my lack of confidence makes me fear stylisation and make them flat. Lately I discovered an amazing artist, Jordi Lafebre, who stylises faces and noses amazingly, and it inspired me to let myself try something more bravely. Progress!

A wonderful commission by @sardolutra to draw a scene from out rp story! Klara and Hektor are not very moved by accusations coming at them, mostly the one about him marrying her only for her money.
Finished version of that sketch I liked! I am still wondering if I should've left the background even simpler and more monochromatic.
Anyways, look! I made a full illustration! It's quality is a bit diminished by Nightshade but oh well
**Deep breath** It's here! First two chapters of my DBH fanfiction -
Leaks and Malfunctions!
I would be lying if I said I'm totally calm about it, and I hope anyone besides me has a good time with it. This is my return to writing, and I'm very happy that I did it. Especially that I get to see more Connor and Hank scenes in my head. I have plans for it to be a fully fleshed out case, but we'll see how it goes, no promises.
As a bonus here's a doodle explorations of new outfit for Connor - I mentioned in the text he needs to change his jacket to something that's not donned with Cyberlife logos and android symbols.
all my advice about using real athletes to learn drawing bodies beyond hard abs, and my particular pref being wrestlers, also applies to women btw. you can draw women who r strong and not an hourglass shape. fucking do it.
kris statlander, rhea ripley (look at her SHAPE), willow nightingale, ruby soho, these r just four off the top of my head that have obvious musculature and different body types. skye blue and julia hart have more slim cheerleader style bodies as well, i REALLY wanted to put emi sakura who is fucking STOUT (adoring) in this post but i couldn't find a good demonstrative pic, the list goes on
