When I was watching episode 5 of TADC, I thought that the reference that Jax made to breaking bad was so random, so I wrote it off as a one-off joke. but the more I thought about it, the more that reference makes sense for his character and is the key to unlocking (sorta) who Jax is (bear with me here, please)

So the main character of breaking bad, Walter White, is an emasculated man who went into the drug business to, at first, financially support his family after his cancer diagnosis. but as the story progresses, he shows that he is doing it for himself. We know that Walter White is a man who has internalized toxic masculinity and craves control, hence why he is so abusive to Jesse and his family, gaslighting them and using them time and time again for his own gain. He shows narcissistic behaviors and is generally a piece of shit throughout the whole show. Also, because of this characterization, it's clear that he hates not being in control, which makes him an insecure person with a huge ego.

Now, how does this relate to Jax? Well, assuming he has seen the show, I'm 100% sure he relates to him in some way. He uses people for his own gain, like Gangle, because he likes feeling in control by bossing around someone that he knows won't fight back because there will be some kind of consequence if they do (kind of like Skyler and Walter). Not only that, but Jax has some aspects of toxic masculinity , which could explain why he is so insecure when he was put in a maid dress even though it was a joke and when it was made apparent that he was afraid of something stupid like corn. Also, he hates the lack of control he has when the others return the jokes on him and becomes borderline violent because of it.

Now, this might not sound like a 100% match, and I can't know for sure whether the inclusion of this reference was just a random joke or not, but either way, it's an interesting choice, especially for a character like Jax
