I drew the main 6 for Super science friends 10th anniversary!

At first, I thought about some kind of "all-stars composition", but then I saw some old MMORPG games I used to play, and I came up with:

What if they are like DnD-styled characters and got their classes according to their super powers?

So it came up with like this. But I actually just wanna draw some medieval-fantasy-DnD-like stuffs.

Albert- Rouge, whose points are all at speed, but also good at throwing little apple-like bombs. Seldomly uses his knives, but still carries them because "they look cool."

Marie- Sorcerer, who uses stones and minerals to enhance her power. Got a skill called "Sickening Raidiance." She's also good at physical combat and will punch you in the face with her rings on her fingers.

Nikola- Articifier, got the blessings of Lightings and Thunders so his weapons are all Thunder-typed. May not be useful in a rainy battle field.

Sigmund- Bard, but preferred to use his powers as "Dancer." We're still not sure how he got a Charisma that's so high. Insists to wear the pink ribbon and won't take it off.

Tapputi- Alchemist, got every potion you need and you don't need. Do not try to figure out what's actually inside the bottle. You'll regret it. Also got a really high Charisma.

Darwin- Barbarian with Druid powers. Always the one who cares about nature but smashes the enemy with beast-like iron fists.

(Fairly speaking, this is a party who put all the points to INT and Charisma...and Speed...and nobody cares about Sanity😭😭)

I've already read about Nikola before I watch "Super Science Friends", he's such a kind person that actually wants to share his invention for kindness. But the world is cruel, so they fcked him up.

Random reminder that Charles Darwin put a beetle in his mouth when he was still a student at Cambridge. He had just picked up two beetles from under some tree bark when he saw a third one and, since he had three beetles and two hands, put one in his mouth to pick up the third.

Unfortunately, that beetle was a bombardier beetle. When the beetle sprayed him in the mouth, he not only spat it out but dropped the other two beetles in the confusion, losing all three.

(do you think SSF Darwin would do this)

It would be so hilarious if he did because there was a scene in Freudian Sleep that Darwin tried to chase Tesla's pigeon to eat it and claimed that it was "Natural selection."

If he ever saw a beetle, then it could've happened at least once in SSF universe off-screen, yknow..😉

people generally dismiss freud as a weirdo and dont use his theories for things. i dont think that necessarily im just curious what you like/dislike about his work?

The dismissal comes in part from Skinnerite/behaviorist psychology prevailing over clinical psychoanalysis in North America and of course the victors get to shape the narrative. The other part is that people believe Freud covered up abuse on purpose with his theory of seduction and hysteria. But what actually happened was initially he assumed young girls having strange dreams centering around father figures were repressed memories of abuse, and then he later realized that dreams work in a more complex way than this and that he was making too big of a logical leap. The diagnosis of hysteria was also applied to both men and women from the beginning, because Freud was the one to separate psychology from crude physiological determinism. Juliet Mitchell talks about all of this in Psychoanalysis and Feminism.

What I like in his work is that he’s in the lineage of German idealism and Young Hegelianism, but much more cynical, critical, and skeptical than them while discussing the same topics. He’s similar to Schopenhauer in being extremely blunt about civilization. Even if Freud was a conservative and ultimately advocated accommodation to patriarchal civilization, he did not at all paint it in a rosy light. His take on communism was related to this too. He said communists are basically right but that they expect too much rationality from human behavior. My abuelo said the exact same thing, he had studied psychoanalysis although he wasn’t a psychoanalyst. I think it’s worthwhile for communists to respond to Freud on his own ground, where he understands humanity as still an animal species motivated by irrational animal needs
