It was lunch period, and Fred sat alone at a rickety plastic table. Normally he would be sitting with Bertha, but she wasn’t at school today. Out sick he assumed. To Fred, eating lunch alone was one of the worst things to do, but regardless he sighed and began to unzip his lunch kit.

It was Savannah's first day at an all new school and she hadn't seemed to make a single friend. She was absolutely dreading lunch, it seemed like she was forced to be the loser that sat all alone at an empty table. Looking around the lunch room, she saw what seemed to be a fairly empty table except for a boy who had been sitting there. Taking a deep breath, she walked over, clutching the strap of her bag with one hand. "Is it okay if I sit here?" She asked nervously, biting on her lower lip.
