STFW Tip 012: the feasting continues! Just a gentle reminder to finish all the food you have from the thanksgiving festivities. It’s easy to waste a lot during the holidays but remember that the freezer is your friend if you can’t finish it all ❤️

STFW Tip 012: the feasting continues! Just a gentle reminder to finish all the food you have from the thanksgiving festivities. It’s easy to waste a lot during the holidays but remember that the freezer is your friend if you can’t finish it all ❤️
STFW Tip 011: Save 97,500 gallons of beef toots Did you know that the average American’s beef consumption puts more than 97,500 gallons of methane gas into the atmosphere each year? That’s 7.8 million gallons in a lifetime. And this doesn’t include the emissions produced from transporting, packaging, processing or feeding them. One of the biggest things people can do to be more environmentally conscious is to stop eating beef or at least cut back. It’s healthier for you, the earth and the poor cows 🐮
STFW Tip 010: Fix your shit! Ever have a button fall off your favorite sweater or have a squeaky bed frame? Instead of throwing them out and replacing them, try fixing it first! Clothes can be mended very easily and cheaply by your local tailor and sometimes a little elbow grease goes a long way! We live during a time where things aren’t build to last but damn it, we can force them to!
STFW Tip 008: Air dry or die. Have you ever thought about air drying your clothes instead of using the dryer? It saves on electricity and your clothes last longer! It may be getting colder but it's very easy to use an indoor drying rack! Just do your laundry in the evening and when you wake up it will all be dry!
Bonus: in the winter months when it's very dry, this is an eco friendly way to humidifier the air in your home!
STFW Tip 007: it's all trash! I've been thinking a lot about ways to be more eco-friendly and one of the overarching issues I come across is the amount of garbage and waste we produce. If you change your mindset to think about the fact that everything you own, and everything you buy will one day be garbage. It's deep and dark but it's crazy how much stuff we buy that we don't need. It's time to be more mindful of what we're buying. Do you really need that special container for your leftover avocado or do you have one that will work just fine?
STFW Tip 006: Be a loaner. This one was originally about using the library instead of buying new books but then I realized it applies to so many other things! Instead of buying something new that you'll only use or read once, borrow it from someone. Ps- sorry for the delay in posting these! I'm in Hawaii so they'll be infrequent for the next week or so!
STFW Tip 005: Save a flush! Did you know that if you save one flush a day, you would save ~1,095 gallons of water a year?! If even 10 people start doing this it would save 10,950 gallons of water! With just one flush!! Next time you're taking your half asleep wiz in the morning, think about saving that flush for the before-work-pee you take right as you walk out the door! Easy PEEsy 😉
STFW Tip #004: Quit leaving the lights on! I can still hear my dads voice in my head from my youth, "Who left the damn lights on again??" And don't tell him, but he was totally right. Lights off = saving money and the environment. Most people have switched to fluorescent or LEDs which is great (👏👏👏) but that doesn't exempt you from wasting energy to light the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen while you're in the den doing god-knows-what! Be bright and turn off the lights 😉😉😉
STFW Tip #003: Say no to plastic straws! Next time you're at a restaurant, set the straw in a safe & dry place so that the server can save it for the Wastey McWastersons that come after you. Although they're small and seem insignificant, every piece of plastic that's thrown away will live almost forever. We don't want the aliens that find our decimated planet to know how many sodas we drank! ✌️👽
STFW Tip #002: Stop using plastic bags!! . Plz plz plz for Mother Earth, get some reusable bags and then use them! I once had a cashier TRIPLE bag a gallon of milk. Plastic bags are very unnecessary and take up a lot of space in our landfills. So next time you're at the store & you buy one thing, let the cashier know that you don't need a bag. Just carry it! It's not weird. This also includes people who put a bag around their bananas - it comes with packaging built in! Full disclosure: I'm very bad at this one so I'm mostly yelling at myself. 😉
STFW Tip #001: buy the ugly fruits and veggies! Did you know that half the produce in the US gets thrown away?? Buying the misshapen or slightly bruised food keeps it from being thrown into a landfill! Garbage is a big contributor to climate change due to all the gas it produces! Next time you're at the grocery store, think about grabbing some mutant carrots instead of the pretty ones 😊
Hey guys! I'm starting a new project! Due to the current state of the world and my need to relieve stress by doodling, I'll be posting little tips to make your carbon footprint smaller. We'll start with really easy things and move on to bigger ways you can help! If the government won't do anything about it, then we need to do it ourselves! Stay tuned 💚
