Got my ticket for Mission Imposible next weekend. My only hope is that somehow, someway Ethan and Ilsa can have a happy ending together. No matter how stupid it is it's all I want.

YOU GUYS IT’S DECEMBER 10TH YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN IN MY QUEUE SINCE FEBRUARY
you have the rest of the day to reblog this
“fanon is so much better then canon” bestie, you literally took a complex character with personality flaws and turned him into a living stereotype.
Damn fireworks have never been this close, numerous and very early.
Arcane season 1 spoilers
Just finished rewatching season 1 and I need to get a prediction out.
I've seen nothing from Season 2 except potential costumes for Vi and Caitlyn.
I think the hexcore will absorb most of the blast and save Jayce and Mel. I think victor will be mostly overtaken by it. I think odds are even about if Caitlyn's mother is killed or injured. I think Mel's grandmother and her army will either be hired by the city or force her way in, to establish a power base in Piltover.
imo the best way to interpret those “real people don’t do x” writing advice posts is “most people don’t do x, so if a character does x, it should be a distinguishing trait.” human behavior is infinitely varied; for any x, there are real people who do x. we can’t make absolute statements. we can, however, make probabilistic ones.
for example, most people don’t address each other by name in the middle of a casual conversation. if all your characters do that, your dialogue will sound stilted and unnatural. but if just one character does that, then it tells us something about that character.
yeah, go ahead and apply this filter to any writing advice i give forevermore, it’s super correct.
like if i go “kids will NOT let you carry them around like a plush toy all day, have your character put the kid DOWN, their arms are tired, so tired, also the child will now vanish into the distance as if shot from a railgun and by the time the character catches up there will be tears and ceiling food” just take the initiative to recognize that Cuddles Georg, who throws a shitfit when you try to put him down even though he’s three already and weighs the same as a subaru outback, is also valid, but somebody is gonna want to know why tf he is like that
I work with this one vendor that periodically sends a salesman to the office, and that guy knows how to use your name three to four times in a sentence when he’s making a pitch. I legit think he read a book in the 1980s that said this is a good way to build personal relationships and has been hanging onto it ever since. And this really does inform you a lot about his character.
In college my sister wrote a short story in which a character kept a deceased loved one’s ashes in a cardboard box between the mystery novels on a bookshelf.
Her creative writing professor gave her a note saying “No one would actually do that.”
My sister then had to explain to her professor that my grandfather’s ashes were very much in a cardboard box between the mystery novels on a bookshelf in my grandmother’s house.
There are almost 8 billion people in the world right now. The odds of any specific kind of weirdo actually existing are fuckin’ high.
if you fuckers do the skeleton war shit again this year we’re deleting the website for real

We need a new term for Stockholm Syndrome because as a concept, in fictional stories especially, it is GREAT.
You get kidnapped/taken hostage and obviously at the start youre scared/angry/etc but then you slowly get to know your keeper over the course of your imprisonment and you start falling in love with them in spite of everything????? A+ concept.
But!!!!! The dude who coined Stockholm Syndrome did it to discredit the testimony of a hostage who was pissed at police for being reckless with her life. The hostage was like "the police nearly fucking killed me. The dudes who took me prisoner weren't as cavalier with my life as the damn cops were!!! Does that say something or what!!!" And the cops were mad that their behaviour was called into question, so they had one of their guys claim that the traumatic experience had messed with her mind and caused her to develop affections for those who took her captive. No!! That's not what happened at all!! It's just that the cops sucked way worse than the captors did!!!!
So like, "Stockholm Syndrome" actually means "i am justifiably angry, because the people who were supposed to be rescuing me were less concerned with safeguarding my life than those who took me captive in the first place, and That's Fucked Up"
Therefore, since Stockholm Sydrome is taken, we need a new term for "I got kidnapped and fell in love with my captor against my better judgement."
Any suggestions?
the problem with the Anti SJW Movie Critic Grifter Complex is that a lot of stuff they call "woke garbage" is actually garbage not because it's "woke" but because it's bad. as a craft. but it feels impossible to criticize it as a piece of work without validating the worst part of the internet. the other problem is that a lot of times it's in fact the attempts at progressive politics that makes adaptations/remakes worse, but not for the reasons the alt right critics think it makes them worse ("oh no there's black people in my fantasy now", "oh no an offensive element with no plot relevance was removed"). it's because plenty of these remakes mistake the optics of empowerment for empowerment itself with no regard for why the changed elements were there in the first place, and this is how we end up with Force Sensitive Mulan and Girl's Girl Tinkerbell.

What’s up late night folks? Here’s an eerie shot I took down a pitch black road in the middle of the night
Extracting from the original tags: this is an 8 minute exposure — it was indeed pitch black
I’m imagining this is what it looks like to elves and others with darkvision.
Oh god the quality of light there is REALLY unsettling. Do Not Want.
