#DESTRUCTION #MOONROOF
It's been a cold and rainy few days in Nashtown, though work has progressed. We shut off our water when the first deluge of Arctic chill reared its frosty face but over the weekend we crossed the point of no return when our tankless water heater was ripped from it's perch to make way for PROGRESS.
Needless to say, the house, or at least the portion still standing, is back to its 1950's glorious size with the former laundry room and breakfast room now being a distant memory. The addition is nearly tied in to the existing house and the addition's subfloor looks to be complete. Next up is finishing up the framing of the second floor and tackling the roof. Our contractor has told us we've got around 2 weeks to wrap framing and new roof before moving to tackling the guts of the house. From there, we're looking at 6 weeks. Conveniently, we have 10 weeks left in this pregnancy. Fate...perhaps.
Top left, going clockwise: 1. The soon to be extinct mud room and breakfast nook. 2. The now extinct mud room and breakfast nook 3. Another look at the former breakfast area 4. Yet another view from one of the new den windows.
FRAMED!
Progress has been made, stress levels are at an all time moderate. In what has felt like an eternity to us, the bones are nearly up!
With any renovation of an older home, surprises are sure to be found. As siding has been pulled off and new house is tied in to old house we've had had our surprises: having to tweak the measurements when digging the footers, having to raise part of the kitchen an inch and a half in order for the floor joists to tie in to the addition and even called an audible on tacking a mudroom on to the back.
You'll see the new family room to the left and the mudroom on the right (last minute audible!). The entire footprint of the family room is no bigger than our old deck.
Bump Photo Dump
Below are some bump pics. I haven't been taking them as often as I had planned but wanted to dump them on here before I forget how many weeks I was in each. As I post these I am wishing I had taken them the same day each week as well as the same pose so I could watch the belly grow a little better. I guess I still have another 15 weeks to start taking them that way and there's always baby #2 (whoa!)

Weeks 17-24 Recap
Ok I have some major catching up to do! I am mad at myself for slacking so much on this because I feel like this pregnancy is flying by way too fast and I don't want to forget anything. So I am going to attempt to recap the past 7 weeks! As I type this out I am in the middle of week 24 and can't believe we are 6 months pregnant! Ok here goes...
First and foremost we found out we are having a boy!! I took an online quiz that said I was having a boy so I just went with that. A lot of Mom's kept telling me they had a "feeling" and they just "knew" what they were having but I never experienced that.
Another huge milestone was feeling the baby kick for the first time. This happened at week 19 and was AMAZING!!! Aaron and I had stayed up late the night it happened waiting up for the clock to strike midnight marking Aaron's 30th birthday. About 15 min. after Aaron turning 30 is when it happened. We were both so excited and I still can't fully describe how amazing it was to experience our little boy moving!
Now that I can feel the baby move I am a lot less anxious. I use to get really anxious in-between doctors appointments worrying how our little one was but now that i can feel him move I am constantly reassured each day that he is in there doing just fine.
Aches and Pains! My ribs are pretty sore all the time. My lower back hurts A LOT and pretty often. I am meeting with a physical therapist this Friday so things should get better soon.
I've been slacking on my prenatal work out dvd's :(
HOME RENOVATION / PREPARE THE WAY OF THE BABY!
Wednesday began what will surely be the "thorn-in-my-side" for the remainder of Natalie's pregnancy: the home renovation. We have a small house in a great neighborhood in West Nashville. This house has served us well for the creation of a fashion business, rock and roll management offices, a fiesta birthday party, countless beers and brew sessions on the back porch and being an overall great home for the first 4 years of our marriage.
We're very tied to this neighborhood and didn't want to consider moving (probably the smarter thing...) but would our 2-bedroom, (closet-sized) bathroom domicile make us go insane once Baby Sawyer arrived in February... We guessed "yes" thus embarking on this somewhat foolish, 11th hour renovation.
In the end, we'll be adding two more bedrooms and baths, expanding the kitchen into the existing dining area and creating a den where the deck once was. Our contractor has estimated this project will take 4 months to complete so we're doing every lucky, stay-on-track kinda dance we can think to will this project to be done before the baby's arrival. We can only hope the growing of my wife's belly acts as an hour glass of sorts for the contractor to GET THIS THING DONE!

Weeks 12-16 Recap
Ok this recap will get us up to speed!
I have felt pretty great these past 4 weeks. I can only recall 1 or 2 days of feeling icky.
My bump has been growing and growing! It really took form at week 14.
That being said all my regular jeans are uncomfortably tight and I ordered my first couple pairs of maternity jeans! (More details on this later.)
I also ordered a couple of prenatal work out dvd's that I have been doing a couple times a week. (More details on this later as well.)
Mexican food still sadly makes me want to vomit :( RIP Cinco De Mayo :(
I have however been craving baked potatoes! It started with this loaded pulled pork baked potato our next door neighbors bar carries, which is located just down the street. I have since been stock piling potatoes and all the fixings so I can re create at home whenever I feel the need.
I haven't really gained any weight these past 4 weeks and so far no stretch marks! (yay!)
I've been feeling very emotional. Little things make me cry and I feel bad for Aaron for having to deal with me.
1st Trimester Recap
I am now 16 weeks pregnant but wanted to recap the first trimester while it was still fresh on my mind.
We found out super early! We found our we were expecting at week 3 and kept it a secret from EVERYONE until 6 weeks. That was a long and hard 3 weeks! At week 6 we had our first ultrasound and then immediately told our families. At week 8 we had our second ultrasound and then told our closest friends. At 12 weeks we finally were able to share the news with everyone! I am the girl that can't keep a secret to save my life! This was a hard 12 weeks keeping this secret!
At weeks 6 and 8 we had ultrasounds and were able to hear the babies heart beat which was unbelievably amazing!
I felt pretty icky the whole time. From everything I have read and what our doctor has said I didn't have it bad at all so I really can't complain. I felt nauseous a lot and tired. Saltine crackers and ginger ale became a staple in my diet!
At week 9 my belly began to bulge in a very weird way. Nobody told me to expect this. I literally looked like I had just ate a big mac! This was an awkward phase because I certainly didn't look pregnant so I just felt very self conscience.
At week 12 I started to get what looked more like a baby bump.
At week 12 we were able to hear the babies heart beat with a doppler. The doppler is this little microphone that the doctor places on your belly and allows you to hear the heart beat without a an ultrasound.
The most disappointing thing of this whole trimester is I have not been able to eat mexican food!! I literally eat at this mexican spot near our house, Cinco De Mayo, at least once a week. Most weeks twice. Just the thought of going to Cinco makes me feel sick to my stomach. I am hoping as the pregnancy progresses this aversion will fade.
Back To Blogging
I started this blog a couple of years ago with the great intentions to document our life together as a married couple. Despite my good intentions I have failed miserably and only made it as far as getting the hubby to design the tumblr:(
That being said we are now 16 weeks pregnant with our first child and I really want to remember everything about this experience and be able to share with friends and family. It's amazing how quickly the weeks are flying by! I plan to use this blog as a place to share little tidbits about our life as we prepare to grow as a family.
