Two puppies. (I see no difference)
Hey since the show is shit, can you tell me what your favourite things about arya and gendrys relationship in the books are? Love your answers!
What a fucking great ask, Anon, thank you!!!
There is literally so much to talk about when it comes to their relationship, but since we have all been dealing with HBO’s fanfic I thought I would give you a sweet dose of the canon material to cleanse your soul.
So, with that in mind, here is an extensive list of my favorite aspects of Arya and Gendry’s relationship from the books:
thanks to joe and his beautiful voice, imagine gendry singing this about arya after 8x04.
“harsh times that we’ve been through have turned you hard. unfreeze your heart, let down your guard oh ‘arya’. cause even i can change. I can change for the better ‘arya’. cause nothing’s set in stone.”
The best explanation of who should be king after Jon killed Dany
OK guys, let’s assume that Dany did get mad, and Jon did have to kill her for peace. Let’s assume all of these crazy shits (but probably truly to the original book although GRRM would definitely do it much better and more persuasive than D&D) actually happened, then what next?
As in Westeros, what is the most important thing when people are talking about monarchy and thrones?
Still, blood and ancestry.
So, as Dany being killed, and Jon killed her to lose his right as a sinner, who is the next to the throne? A truly reasonable king who will persuade every man and woman in Westeros, and we know they are not easy to be persuaded, definitely will not be by the shit show D&D’s Tyrion gave in S806?
Gendry Baratheon, that’s it.
He is not only the only heir of Robert Baratheon, the last real king in Westeros, but he is also the last relative of Dany and Jon, as his great grandmother (Robert’s grandmother) is a Targaryen.
Gendry is strong, and he is one of the true heroes in the war with the Night King which saved everyone in the world. He marched beyond the wall with Jon, saved everyone in the group when they were surrounded by the wrights (although that running part is crazy and nonsense), created all of the dragon glass weapons to help Arya save every single fxxking living in this world (imagine without the weapon he made, Arya will be all dead before she can kill the Night King). After the war ended, Dany legitimated him by herself and everyone supported this decision (probably the best decision in the whole Season 8). He received Storm’s End not only by his blood, but also by his contribution. Everyone knew him as a strong and brave man, a fighter who stood at the very front of the war with the Night King when it began, and stood until the very end. Everyone knew it and they respected him deeply for this!
Also, Gendry is one of the smallfolks. He grew up in fleabottom. He will truly understand the life and pain of the ordinary people in this land (and Ser Davos as well)? Ser Davos should be his hands, because only them knows what the real disaster looks like to the smallfolks when the highborns played their game of thrones. The two of them will really care about their people, and give them peace and mercy they deserved.
Actually, this is exactly the ending of Wars of the Roses, which is the prototype of ASOIAF. At the end of the war, Henry VII from Lancaster married Elizabeth of York. Henry VII himself is not a bastard, but his mother’s great grandfather is a bastard son of John of Gaunt, who is a son of Edward III of England. So actually Henry VII is from a royal bastard family who happened to be the king by his blood because everyone in front of him died in the war.
Sounds familiar, isn’t it?
And why North wants to be independent? Why? North never wants to be independent until Robert Baratheon died and Ned Stark was beheaded. Ned was always loyal to Robert. Why Sansa still wants to be independent if Robert’s son takes the throne? Ned and Robert will be rolling in their graves, for sure! Sansa is ambitious, but she is not a betrayer or fool. Why North NEEDS to be independent, anyway? After a huge war and long winter, North already lost many men and people got starved, still independent? Why?
Not to mention that Gendry Baratheon will only marry Arya Stark of Winterfell, as his queen.
Yes, Arya and Gendry will marry. Arya is a strong and independent woman, a queen, and a ruler. She is not some heartless assassin or female version of Christopher Columbus who comes out of nowhere. When she was young, she asked her father that if she could become a lord, after Ned told her that she could only be a lady, she denied that. She denied to become a bloody useless lady because all she wanted to be a lord who holds power herself. She will make sure that happened eventually instead of running out of her homeland to escape from the reality in which women cannot be treated as equally as men. Arya will fight for this unfairness instead of escape!!!
Arya’s idol is Queen Nymeria, not Christopher Columbus! She will become a strong queen who lead the country and her pack to make this world a better place! She will make sure every girl in Westeros have the equal right to receive education like boys, and she will protect the right of every woman to choose their own life instead of being traded by their fathers and brothers. Arya is similar to Lyanna, and Lyanna fell in love with Rhaegar and gave birth to Jon. Even Arya’s wolf, Nymeria, is ruling her own wolf pack as the queen. Why Arya will leave by herself alone, why?
And who will be better than Gendry, to support Arya as the real queen of the seven kingdoms? Who?
It was Gendry who knew the true-self of Arya from the very first day they met each other. It was Gendry who stood up for her when she was only a beggar boy to him. It was Gendry who protected her and being protected by her all the way along. It was Gendry who built up the weapon for her and admired her by her sharpness and power, besides her beauty. Gendry knows her, better than anyone else in this world. And Gendry loves her for who she really is, for her heart and soul. Their love is pure and beautiful. They stood together since their childhood, through the war with the Night King, and until the last war. They deserve each other so much!
Actually if you see the poetic rhythm behind this deeply, you will find:
Gendry’s path is from the Smith, to the Warrier, and eventually to the Father (king).
Arya’s path is from the Maiden, to the Stranger, and to the Mother (queen), eventually to the Crone (when she gets old).
The story of them two stand for the seven gods of this land. Who will be better rulers of the Westeros than them?
Also they both have miracles. Gendry’s blood killed three kings, and Arya killed the night king by herself. Even for Dothrakis, they will be accepted since they are both strong and full of God’s miracle.
Yes, they are strong, young, energetic, and full of life and potential. They will create healthy and beautiful children to inherit them. Comparing with them, Bran is much weaker physically, has less life, and will have no heir! Bran is the 3-eyed raven, who represents the Old Gods of ice, relating with coldness and death. Who will become better rulers for Westeros people? Life or death?
So, what the court will be like? If Dany died, Jon left, Gendry and Arya become king and queen?
Hand of the King: Ser Davos (for sure)
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard: Ser Brienne of Tarth (she started from House Baratheon and ends up with House Baratheon, don’t forget, Gendry looks exactly like Renly)
Master of Coins & Warden of the West: Tyrion Lannister (who else)
Master of Ships: Yara Greyjoy (who else)
Master of Laws: Edmure Tully (the book mentioned that he actually cared about his people, when no other lords did)
Master of War: not many good choice left, maybe Bronn, I guess?
Grand Maester: not sure whom but not Sam, the young deserter of Citadel
Warden of the South: Samwell Tarly
Warden of the East: Robin Arryn, assisted by Yohn Royce
Warden of the North: Sansa Stark
And…
Master of Whisperers: Brandon Stark (who else)
That’s it. I call this the endgame. No else.

D&D working on Game of Thrones :
gendry dressing the same as his papa🥺
Okay, maybe I’m just a sentimental fool, but I can’t help but believe that Sandor sent Arya that white horse.
He got her a white horse before and carrying Stark girls away from death and destruction is kind of his thing.
He’s still watching over her.

My mental state this weekend…
GoT ending (?)
After reading 8x06 leak, I lose hope for GoT. Been a LOYAL HUGE FAN for good 10 years, I don't ask anything except a decent ending, if not epic.
Hope the leak is fake. Hope there's still some "sweet" in bittersweet. Hope D&D and HBO aren't that stupid. I hope 8x06 wouldn't ruined all of the GoT crews and actors/actresses hard works these past years.
If the leak does come out as true, then GoT will have a crappy ending... not epic, not bittersweet, just a simple crap. They trashed the whole show from season 1-7 into nothing. Also, there's no point in rewatching, the whole story foreshadowed and built nothing. Nihil.
By that... I swear by the old gods and the new, the god of death, the lord of light, the drowned god, the horse god, the many-faced god, the lady of spear and the great other, I will denounce my self no longer a GoT fan.
If the leaks turn out to be true, it will be the most disappointing ending in the history. Shipping wars and pointless deaths aside, all of the characters deserved better. Because Game of Thrones is a beautiful story which needs a beautiful closure and the leaks show that it ain’t gonna be so. Just disappointing.
I’m really loving the “Ask me again” bits floating around
But let’s be honest, Gendry is stubborn. And he knows he asked it wrong.
“Ask me again.”
“What? No.”
*lightly punching him* “Ask me again!”
“Whatever for? You’re not a Lady, you said it yourself.”
“Ask me again or I’m asking you.”
Gendry is grinning at this point, crossing his arms, daring her. So she huffs.
“Fine. Gendry Baratheon, will you be my Lady?”
And he just burstst out laughing and kisses her silly.
(Too light hearted for the current tone of the series, I know, but I couldn’t help myself.)
Uuuuuyeah.... I really want this!!!!
GENDRYA
Stop with the negativity allready!!!!
1. Please go back and watch episode 4, Sandor literally gives Gendry the same speech he just gave Arya in episode 5.
2. Yes she could very well be back to Gendry. She just came back to her humanity and I think that scene with the mother burned by the fire of the Dragon is enough to tell you that Arya’s humanity was finally awoken again and that also means loving again.
3. No she is not going to kill Deanery’s she allready killed the green eye’d person on her list, it was “Little Finger”
4. The development of Gendry’s relationship with Arya has been happening since season 1, this isn’t new.
5. If there is someone deserving of a happy ending is Arya motherfucking Stark.
On Sandor Clegane - SPOILERS
…
Sandor died a hero’s death, and it was fucking beautiful. I cried harder than I’ve cried for any character when they went through that wall. It was shocking. But the entire time I watched that brutal fight, especially when he was getting thrown around, I kept seeing six year old Sandor looking up at his monster of a brother. And oh my god, when he cried “fucking die!” there was decades of pain and anger and vengeance in that voice.
Sandor marched through falling walls and dragonfire overhead to kill his brother. Not panicking at the sight of fire? That’s some fucking peace right there (for everyone who wants him to live out his days in peace on the Quiet Isle - or with Sansa in Winterfell). Would I be happy if in the books he did live the rest of his life in nonviolent peace? Yeah I would. But I’m also satisfied with the end the show gave him.
He fucking laughed during that fight. He’s wanted this so bad! Even while he’s getting his ass kicked, all those years of pent up rage just came out in a badass laugh. No one’s talking about that laugh!
And when he saw Gregor reaching for that dagger in his eye (a dagger that had gone through his fucking brain), he knew…he knew there was only one thing that could kill a monster like that. You saw the resolve in his face right before he screamed, and it was ten times the resolve you’ve seen in him before. And you just know the entire way down to their death, Sandor knew he’d killed Gregor. And that was what he wanted. Peace for Sandor Clegane? He got his peace! In those final seconds before impact, he knew more peace than he’d ever known in his life. And that’s a hero’s death.
Also, can I just say, the way he and Arya marched into King’s Landing like the two biggest badasses in Westeros - that was unforgettable and I want that still on my wall.
Also, him knowing that Arya was nowhere near that fucking monster gave him peace too. And when he grabbed her head - ugh, he loves his murder daughter.
And okay, the way Sandor said “Your Grace” to Cersei. LMAO! It was so fucking good. I rewinded three times for that.
I’d like to hear more people celebrating his heroism, strength, resolve, and fucking badassery right now, because that was a good death. And he took a monster out of the world while he was at it. A terrifying, evil monster. This was it - good versus evil. This was Sandor Clegane finally proving once and for all - in case there were any doubters by this point? - that he’s a good man.
It was the kind of epic death only Sandor Clegane is capable of pulling off. And I fucking cried and I’m fucking sad, but I’m glad for him that he got to go out that way. Good for you, Sandor. You fucking did it.
SANDOR CLEGANE
I love his journey the most. He has bad attitudes, but he was the best guardian.
We saw him protect Loras Tyrell from The Mountain.
He really did not hurt Sansa. He just frighten her, making her see the reality that people around her are horrible. He gave her something to wipe her blood off so people would not see her like that. He saved her from being raped by the mob. He could have gone away right there and then, but he chose to offer help to Sansa one last time.
He fought for Arya. We all know that he did it for money, but as the talk the night before the great war we knew that he grew to fight for her. To keep her safe from Cersei’s wrath. And when he was about to give up, he came back to his senses to fight again for Arya. And now– he prevented Arya from being like him. From living only for vengeance.
We saw him fight for the villagers who saved him from the verge of death.
We saw him bury the the father and daughter he killed.
We saw Sandor do the Lord’s bidding. We saw him fight with Jon and Jorah and Tormound to get a wight
We saw him in multiple layers. We saw all his side without him really losing his “fuck all of you” self.
Thank you, Papa Sandor. It's been an honor. May your soul rest in peace, at last.
You know what i love the most about that kiss ?
The way Arya keeps her eyes closed, even after the kiss.
The way she keeps her mouth on *kissing mode*.
Gendry initiated the kiss, but she clearly doesn’t want to stop it.
Because she enjoys it.
Because she loves Gendry Baratheon.
Because, deep down inside, she knows she doesn’t want to leave him.
Endgame material.
So, I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out before, but I was watching the proposal scene for the millionth time (ugh my heart!!), and I brightened up these screencaps so I could take a better look at Arya’s face here, and then…
…
I know the lightning is awful, but (imo) you can definitely see the pain on her face. It’s like she let her “mask” drop the moment she turned away from him, because just a second before she was looking like this:
…and then her face goes like this:
Am I imagining things? I think not! ;)
There’s been a lot of talk about Gendry using the term “lady” and messing up his proposal, but to me he absolutely nailed it.
1. “I don’t even know how to use a fork…all I know is”- He’s older and was traditionally in the protector role when they were younger, but he acknowledges Arya is the more savvy of the two of them at this point. He trusts her with the fact “I have no clue what I’m doing” and throws himself on the mercy of that. Back when they were younger and she told him how bad his fight stance was, he was a bit put out. Here he immediately owns up to his lack of knowledge and seems enthusiastic about figuring it out.
2. “all I know is that you’re beautiful”- This is WAY important. Arya has be trying not to look “beautiful” her whole career in addition to being picked on when she was young as being ugly. Sansa is the beautiful one. Arya just accepted what she was in her mind. And here’s this gorgeous guy who has known her forever, generally in boy’s clothes and covered in dirt, telling her that she’s beautiful. And it required no transformation scene on Arya’s part. She looks like she always has, but this man is absolutely adamant that she’s beautiful.
3. “and I love you”- Arya has been losing the people that love her right and left in addition to not having a huge pool to start out with outside of her family. Arya, particularly in the books, always found herself rather unlovable, particularly in the realm of romantic love because her female relatives went over and over what a lost cause she was as a proper lady. So here’s someone who knows exactly how she is saying he loves her. Not in spite of that, but because of it. He’s not asking her to change, he loves the knife throwing, slightly terrifying, confident Arya.
4. “and none of this would mean anything without you”- He’s finally gotten the thing he’s always wanted: legitimacy. Yet in the face of all that he says the thing he always wanted wouldn’t matter if she’s not with him to enjoy it. He pretty much says he might as well go back to being a bastard blacksmith if she’s not there. After the huge issue being illegitimate has always been to him. That is a massive statement right there. “You’re better than the thing I’ve always wanted”.
5. “so be with me”- He’s walked out on Arya once, even if it wasn’t intentional, and this is his turn to ask her to stay. He’s already said he made a mistake in leaving, so here he is offering up always being with her. He’s not going to leave again. Arya has been left so many times be so many people and here he is asking her to stay with him.
I mean our boy NAILED this proposal. He hit almost every issue that Arya needed to hear addressed and hit it perfect.
