Ice cream scav! Very cute!
What do you think about this scavenger.... He getting jiggy with it
ohohohoh...... santas helper......
ohohoh the employee...
I’m pretty sure that asker was looking for the biology (or it may be called biography) mod.
Ah, you might be right. Thank you!
Here is the link for anyone interested.
Hi! I was wondering, if you would know how you can spawn specific savengers in just a Box? I know how you can spawn specific scavs in the game itself but I know there's a Box or a Menu where you can spawn creatures in to have a better view at them. I just can't seems to find it. Idk if it's a Sandbox-Feature/Arena or a Mod and google wasn't very helpful either xD
I believe the Testing Arenas mod might be what you are looking for. Hope this helps!
screenshot redraws <3 !!!
I got the screenshots from @scavworld wawa (sorryr for the tag sob)
Cutest scavenger pic?
Gotta be scavenger #69, just look at those big eyes! You can really see the politeness and thoughtfulness with which they are handing you that brick.
Hoi hoi! May I ask how you manage to get such clear pictures and gifs of scavengers? What program/mods are you using?
I use the sharpener mod, but you can also get clear/unblurry screenshots by playing the game in windowed mode!
I made a reference for artists drawing scavengers, each part with distinct colours so it’s easy to differentiate
This is wonderful, thank you so much for sharing!
What do you think about this translucent scavenger I found?
NOT CUTE
One he got scared by something and That isn't cute, and two why is he translucent that's very concerning
What about 4, 12, and 18 for the ask game? Would love to hear your opinion on those
Sure!
4. What is your least favorite region?
Probably Drainage System or Underhang. I find some of the swimming sections in Drainage, particularly those with leeches, rather frustrating at times. Underhang has some tricky parkour sections that I tend to have trouble with as well.
12. Which echo is your favorite?
It is hard to say! I like all of them, I think each one has very interesting and beautiful dialogue. I am very fond of the echoes, they are one of the most breathtaking things in the game for me personally! Though if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be either A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads or Four Needles Under Plentiful Leaves.
A Bell, Eighteen Amber Beads has probably my favorite echo room in the game. I think the gentle light of the red grass and the glowing white branches backdropped by the the shadows moving behind them as they tangle up towards the sky and small flecks of gold slowly flutter down is a very beautiful visual.
As for the other, this dialogue in particular that Four Needles Under Plentiful Leaves says has stuck with me for awhile.
"Did they know? That I didn't quite leave, didn't quite stay? Should I be ashamed? That I linger here, where my memories are kept? Should I be ashamed that I now envy your flesh prison?"
I could gush about all of the echoes, honestly, but these two in particular stand out to me!
18. How did the ending make you feel?
Rain World ending spoilers ahead, obviously
I thought it was so beautiful I literally had a breakdown that lasted 2 days. I think this moodboard I made shortly after completing the game summarizes my initial reactions best!
In all seriousness though, I was very deeply impacted by it in a very personal way. It is a bit difficult to put my feelings into words, but I will try!
I was alone in a dark room when I was playing through the ending. There is something incredibly enrapturing about the Depths for me personally (probably something to do with my fascination with real life caves and depths!). The gentle ambience of the dripping cavern walls and crackling torches, the beautiful hum of the music, the lights slowly moving across the walls as your vision beings to distort as you travel deeper and deeper into the flesh of this world before plunging yourself beneath the waves and even further into the complete unknown. It is loud, and scary, and beautiful. It had me so enraptured that at the moment where you make it past the cascade of melting gold only to realize that you aren't alone down here and are surrounded by millions of incomprehensible beings larger in scope and more different than anything you have ever seen before had me feeling genuinely terrified.
My job requires me to be underwater a lot, sometimes in the dark, sometimes surrounded by loud noises and humming and thrashing, and it reminded me a lot of that. I do not remember much from my first playthrough, but I do remember being scared and desperately trying to swim to the bottom to just try and get out of the loud chaotic swirling sea of creatures. Could you imagine how terrifying it would actually be to be slugcat in that moment? Even now, the entities shown in the ending and the thought of that scare me.
"Oh, interesting. This is a diary entry of a pre-Iterator era laborer during the construction of the subterranean transit system south of here. In it they describe restless nights filled with disturbing dreams, where millions glowing stars move menacingly in the distance." -LTTM
The rest of the ending is also very beautiful I think. I remember crying when you see other slugcats appear by your side as you swim down towards the light. It was really touching when slugcat finally got to be with their family again.
Anyways sorry for the long ramblings haha, I hope my thoughts are interesting at least. Thank you for the questions! <3
16, 21, and 22?
16. Which of the Downpour slugcats are you most excited for?
Spearmaster or Saint! The Spearmaster's mechanics seem very interesting and the Saint's grapple tongue seems like it will be fun to play around with!
21. What is your favorite thing about the game?
Not sure if this counts since it isn't technically part of the game itself, but something I have enjoyed is bonding with others over the game, especially my partner, Lizard Mod :) They got the game for me as a gift and initially neither of us knew anything about it at all! But together we both learned about it and it is something we still talk about and bond over to this day. I have many fond memories of hours spent with them as we livestreamed the game to each other and it has been fun seeing how much of an impact this game has had on our lives and relationship. I have also enjoyed bonding over others with this blog! Sadly I am not too active in other community spaces such as the Discord, but this blog has given me more of a peek into the community and it has been nothing but delightful interacting with you all through this blog and bonding over are shared adoration for this game, so thank you all very much for that!
Buuuuut if we are talking about things that are directly part of the game, the atmosphere! I think Rain World has one of the most expertly and beautifully crafted atmospheres of any game I have played. The artstyle, sound design, music, and even gameplay all weave together perfectly for me. I'd love to be able to go back and reexperience the game again blind for the first time. Being able to forget that you are even playing a video game and just getting absorbed into this vast alien world is so magical. I have seen many games that try to achieve the same feeling, but Rain World is the only game I have ever actually seen pull it off for me personally!
22. Have you played around with any mods for the game?
A bit! But not as much as I would like to. For this blog I always have the sharpener mod active, as it lets me take nice clear crisp photos of scavengers! (Fun tip: If you want to take crisp screenshots without the anti-aliasing effect the game uses to make things look slightly blurry, just turn on windowed mode and the pixels will be clear). I have played some Jolly Coop with Lizard Mod and dabbled in some region mods though, but I cannot remember the names of most of them unfortunately since I didn't get very far in exploring them. I've played some of the custom slugcat mods too and some of them are really fun! I like Sporecat and the Wanderer from the Drought mod. Also that mod that lets you play as the iterators is pretty great. It is fun to imagine Moon going full "survival-mode" and hauling herself all the way to FP's chamber just to throw a rock at him.
Once I installed that mod where you have to keep moving otherwise you will explode and I forgot I had it installed for like a week. Needless to say it made getting scavenger pictures pretty difficult!
3, 8, and 9? :0
3. What is your favorite region?
Hard to say, but I am quite fond of Subterranean for its visuals and ties to the story, but I'm also a fan of Sky Islands for its pure chaos.
8. What are your opinions on Looks to the Moon (character)?
I love Moon! She is so sweet and sympathetic and she has an adorable design. She deserves so much better, I just wanna wrap her up in a blanket like a burrito. I think at this point she is technically the character I've drawn the most fanart of from... any piece of media.
9. What are your opinions on Five Pebbles (character)?
He is a bastard but I think he is a very well-written character and very fun to analyze! I think him being too full of himself to realize or admit to how he hurts others and himself in pursuit of his goals is very interesting. I also find him INCREDIBLY funny. This dude who literally talks himself up so much and goes on tangents to random passerby rodents about how he is basically a god would canonically sleep on a mattress on the floor and try to sell you shitty techbro garbage if he was a human according to what the developers have said on livestreams. Amazing character. Would also wrap him up in a burrito, even though he would probably explode me if I did.
unsure if you're intending to do the ask game yourself, but 7 and 14 if you are!
Sure! :)
7. What is your favorite song from the soundtrack?
It is definitely hard to pick because there are so many great songs in the soundtrack, so here are a few of my favorites!
Random Gods - The room where this song plays clearest is my favorite room in the game, and also I just love how this song sounds! I love the chaoticness of it and how it all comes together, it is erratic and almost frenzied sounding, which is how I imagine the iterators futile existence to feel, constantly running millions of different calculations all at once in a desperate, angry attempt to find a solution to their problem. Also I love the character it is associated with, and the theories associated with this song as well.
Stargazer - The moment this song plays is a very emotionally impactful one for me and one of the stand-out moments in the game, and the song perfectly conveys and enhances the moment I think!
Moondown - This song is very calm and also a bit sad. I like the robotic sounds that are incorperated into it and I think it fits as Moon's theme perfectly. A regular on this blog, @bewilderbark, made a lovely pmv featuring this song inspired by something Lizard Mod wrote. Go look at it!
14. Which part of the game was most difficult for you?
I spent more hours than I care to admit trying to get that stupid jellyfish unlock.
Thanks for the ask! <3 I love talking about this game :)
A salmon pink scavenger with a light grey belly, dark blue head, and blue eyes submitted by bewilderbark. Their eyes look so sad! I wonder what's bothering them...
Rain World Questionare!
Just felt like making this for fun since I see them floating around sometimes for other fandoms. If you see this, reblog with your answers! I’d love to hear them and I will be sure to read them :)
