Each week David is cooking a different recipe for Patrick and then they have 🔥 sex!  This fic adds a new stand-alone chapter every week and also has an accompanying spreadsheet with recipe and sex-position links as well as the boys' ratings of both parts of the evening. I love the everyday banter and love that emanates in this fic, as well as the warmth of the recipes and the heat to close it out! This is an exquisite hurt/comfort fic that is so much more than that. When Patrick has a stroke at a conference four hours away from home, he is dependent on the kindness of strangers. Patrick’s longing for David and David’s frantic desperation to get to his husband. When he finally gets there, their love and support for each other comes through achingly beautifully. I love the little details that anchor this crisis firmly in the context of everyday life, like Patrick’s preference for green gummy bears or Marcy’s stash of emergency snacks. 

The fic does such a wonderful job showing the nuances of Patrick’s frustration at weakness and slow recovery. and David’s desperation and backsliding into old fears. The theme of communicating without words serves as both the source of trauma (Patrick’s aphasia) and also to illustrate the strength of David and Patrick’s bond and how it aids his recovery. The supporting characters are all perfectly drawn, and it’s lovely to see the town coming together to support Patrick and David, complete with a party with a name that a won’t spoil, but that fits perfectly in a town that came up with Asbestos Fest. Also be prepared for a third act emotional wallop that will hit you right in the feels.

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by this_is_not_nothing

Patrick is missing Brewer family traditions and David makes them happen for him. It's lovely seeing David be supportive while still being so David (Sample line: Supporting Patrick is turning into a lot of extra work.) This is just a lovely, funny, tender Christmas fic where David makes everything okay.

This fic is hilarious and heartbreaking in equal measure, while also being wonderfully soft and tender. It paints so perfectly the pain and dislocation of going home, seeing the place you used to fit (or not fit), where you desperately want to assert your new self and struggle against the pull of gravity of your old self. It’s a layered and subtle exploration of the Brewers as a family where everyone is trying to spare everyone else and somehow they never ended up talking about real things. (Let’s just say we see without a doubt where Patrick learned to put off difficult conversations.) David is Patrick’s rock throughout as he navigates this journey, and Moira and Johnny are there to make everything that much more deliciously complicated.

This is the moodiest, most atmospheric, Halloween fic ever to fic. The author takes the genre of noir and makes it fit within the Schitt’s Creek canon like it is slipping on a costume. And this fic also HAS A COSTUME BALL, where Patrick may dress in a way that is very visually pleasing (no spoilers). It has tension, it has pining, it has excellent, snappy dialogue, and a perfectly done mystery. You will never find another fic like it...kind of like the search for the Diamond itself. Run, don’t walk, and go read this excellent Halloween fic!

Things don't go as planned of course, but there is all kind of friendly ridiculousness to be had including karaoke and wine and a too small house in Santa's village.

This is a sweet little story that starts with a fight (Patrick's childish irritation over Christmas card pictures is very funny and perfectly reflects the engagement pictures scenes in the show even though it was written before "I was being very sarcastic!") but ends with them being loving and caring for each other. I love it even though it gets Walking in a Winter Wonderland stuck in my head every time!

Patrick is working for Ray, who tasks him with selling a house on the outskirts of town that may or may not be haunted. Patrick doesn't believe in ghosts, until he meets David Rose. David says he died years ago but that he comes back every Halloween week to haunt the spot where his mysterious death occurred. Is David what he says he is? How did he die? Why does he keep coming back? And more importantly, why does Patrick keep finding excuses to spend more time with him?

David is a ghost who haunts a mansion (Morningwood Estate!) in Schitt's Creek, and Patrick is tasked with fixing it up to sell. This is not a spooky ghost story, but instead wonderfully funny and tender. David the ghost is nuts about pumpkin spice, which Patrick happily supplies him with. The banter is delightful and hilarious and all of the secondary characters are very well written (Ray is especially good).

Okay, so, I'm new to delving deeper into the wonderful world of fanfiction, especially fanfiction that hits you in the feels. This piece of literature is beautifully written, the topic matter is pretty heavy, but the author handles it wonderfully. I reached the end of the chapter and I was misty eyed. I can't wait to go on a journey with this author and this piece. Yes, the topic at hand is heavy, but it is real. The fic is rooted in love, much like Schitt's Creek itself. A Major Character Death is anticipated sometime in the piece, and I know it will absolutely wreck me, but the author writes these characters that we all love splendidly and with utmost care.

I don’t usually read fics that deal with Major Character Death, but I took a chance on this fic. I’ve read other work by this author and I trust them to deal with the subject with sensitivity and the utmost care. And I have not been disappointed. The story takes place a few years in the future. The Rose family suffers a tragic loss, and Patrick struggles to help them—David in particular—through this tough time. The emotions are so real and raw, but the author gives the characters room to be flawed in their grief, while celebrating the love between them. It is still a WIP, and up to Chapter 6, but the writer is posting on a weekly schedule, and I highly recommend reading when it’s complete in a few weeks, if you’re not one for reading incomplete fics. It’s emotional and vulnerable and raw, but so beautifully done. You will not regret it.
