what's your favorite phoneme? @favorite-phoneme-creature

haven't really thought much about this question before it would definitely be a consonant, i'm a big fan of the voiceless fricatives, and i also enjoy palatals quite a lot, so it's probably one of /ç/, /ɕ/, and /t͡ɕ/. /ɬ/ is also a strong contender. hard to choose between them, but i think /ɕ/ might just barely be the winner.

as for vowels, the close vowels are awesome and full of personality, whereas the back vowels are formless blobs and are barely distinct from one another. if i were forced to pick, i think i'd go with good old /y/.

looking at other people's answers to this question, it seems like everybody really loves /ɬ/. i mean it's a great phoneme, don't get me wrong. 'twas the first thing that came to my mind too. does make me glad that i ended up going with /ɕ/ though, makes the answers a bit more diverse.
