Ghiaccioâs eyes widened, and he wrapped his arms around Sorbet tightly for a moment before pushing back from him, skipping just a few feet back. It couldnât be real, could it? Was he hallucinating? It didnât matter now, he practically slammed into the taller man, digging his face into his chest. Apologies thoroughly mixed through with French and Italian, the young assassin was finally able to pull himself together enough to speak.
âN-No! I wanted to kill him for what he did to you! And Gelato! I-I just⊠was not prepared for them⊠I am so sorry⊠I failedâŠÂ â
He dug his face deeper into Sorbetâs chest, heaving a sigh. He wanted this for so long, but every inch of him was having such a hard time accepting the fact he was dead. That there would be others dead.
Sorbet would have wheezed at the force Ghiaccio slammed into him, would have toppled were he not as big as he was. He stumbled only slightly, holding his son close and brushing his fingers through familiar curls, comforting him in soft French.
He shushed Ghiaccio and bent to his height, brushing his hands over his face and shoulders and generally making sure Ghiaccio was well and truly there.
âGhiaccio, Ghia, shhh. I understand. You donât have to apologize.â
He pulled Ghiaccio against his chest once more, holding onto him. Thereâs much they would have to do. They would have to go back and fetch the others where they were, but for now, he was going to stay here with him.
