âSo..have you seen Robin recently?â
âI uh⊠no. I havenât seen anyone recently. I cut most of my ties once I moved away.â
He nods "So have I...of course I can't forget any them...no matter how hard I try"
SJ looked at Scorpius weirdly before beginning to separate the food on his plate. Albus sighed and sat beside him, taking a long sip of the water and shaking his head.
âSo..have you seen Robin recently?â
âOhâŠâ Albus shoots SJ a glare. âDonât ask questions like that. Itâs rude,â he reminds the boy, before looking across at Scorpius. âIâm sorry.â
âItâs fineâ he smiles. âHeâs innocent, ignorance is a blissâ
He rolls his eyes. âJust do it,â he turns away to get three glasses of water. SJ walks back into the room and sits down in his chair. âWhy are you still here?â
Scorpius started setting up the napkins when he heard SJ. â...Because I was...invited for dinnerâ
âYouâve helped enough,â Albus responds, before handing him a pile of napkins. âHere. Fold these and put them at each place. Extra points for Syltherin if they look like animals,â he jokes.
âOh please you know I think that point system is ridiculous and it only emphasizes the segregation of our societyâ
SJ sighs and goes into the bathroom to wash his hands. Albus comes over to the table and puts down three plates of pasta and bread. âOhâ You donât have to help. Itâs fine. Iâll do it.â
âAlbus...I want to helpâ Scorpius says intently and his eyes donât wander off of Albus.
Albus swallows hard and casts Scorpius a look. âI-Iâm⊠notâŠââ before he can continue stuttering like the awful mess he is, the alarm on the stove goes off and he rushes to go strain the pasta. He grabs his oven mitts and pours the pot into the stove. The steam from the boiling water rises up and traps him in a cloudâ and for a second he allows an embarrassed smile to escape onto his lips. But soon the air clears and he has to act as though Scorpiusâ words didnât affect him in the slightest. âCan you go tell SJ dinnerâs ready?â
He finds it cute and sweet to see Albus stuttering. It reminded him of the innocence of their early days in Hogwarts. âOf courseâ he nods. âSJâ he says as he walks over to the child. âDinner is readyâ he tells him before going back to help set up the table.
Albus chuckles softly and sets the timer for the pasta, looking at Scorpius over his shoulder. âI wish he wasnât, as I said before.â He and SJ both had their issues, and Albus wished he ended up more like his mother.
âI think heâd be lucky to grow up just like you, Albus. Youâre filled with flaws of course, but that makes you perfectionâ Scorpius says. He didnât mean for it to come across as romantic, but his feelings just take over sometimes.
âI told you, it stands for nothing,â he repeats, turning back towards the stove and stirring the pasta in the pot. He would avoid the answer as best as he couldâ explaining to Scorpius why he chose to name his child after him would just lead to confusion.
He nods and decides not to question him any further. He guesses that life it will always be a mystery. âYou know...I think the reason he is such a blissful, delightful child is because he is a lot like youâ
Albus turns back around to Scorpius and nods. âOh. Yeah, well, heâs really all I have. Iâm afraid heâs a bit too much like me. Which is only really an issue considering he doesnât have any cousins or older brothers nearby to whip him into a normal human being,â he pauses, âAlthough, I donât think I ever ended upnormal either. Basically, weâre both going to end up sex deprived and lonely at the end.â
Not for much longer Scorpius thought. Scorpius shakes those thoughts out of his mind and looks to Albus. âSo...um you didnât tell me. What does his name stand for?â
âOkay,â he brings his knees up to his chest and sighs, looking back at the television show. He isnât sure why this man has to be sitting beside him but he doesnât like it. The only reason why he even spoke to him was because his father claims he knows himâ and his dad doesnât have many friends other than this one. None, in fact. None that come over at least.
Scorpius glances at the TV, then at Albus. He turns to SJ âExcuse meâ he says to SJ before getting up to talk to Albus. âDelightful childâ Scorpius says. He doesnât really know how bring up SJâs real name.Â
SJ shrugs. âI think they might have died. I donât know.â He sighs. âYou still havenât told me your real name.â
â...Uh...you can just call me Malfoyâ
SCORPIUS JAMES
im crying where did u come from ur dead go away
omgÂ
âYes. My name is Scorpius James. But no one calls me that,â he picks at a scab on his elbow and sighs.
âScorpius Jamesâ he mutters to himself. He turns back to see Albus making the dinner, clueless about their current conversation. â...Has he mentioned why he named you Scorpius...Jamesâ
SJ scrunches up his face. âThatâs my name. Whatâs your real name?â He looks at his hand, confused as to what do with it.
Thatâs my name repeats in his head. Scorpius stares blankly at SJ as he tries to figure out what to say and how to respond. âThe...um âSâ stands for Scorpius?â he asks.
âYeah,â he looks back at him. âWho are you?â
âScorpiusâ he extends his hand out. âIâm an old uh friend of your fatherâsâ
SJ looks at Scorpius and bites his lip. ââŠUm. Zoo Pals is on. So I-Iâm watching it,â he nods and turns away again, distancing himself slightly from Scorpius.
âWow um...very intriguing showâ Scorpius says awkwardly, not knowing exactly how to talk to a child.
