what makes a man?

here I wanted to have a series of b&w street portraits to showcase how diverse masculinity really is and set the tone for the publication. I focused on predominantly a younger audience to take images of as my publication will be focused towards 18-30 year olds-an inclusive audience of any gender as my publication isn't just directed towards men it aims to showcase diversity and celebrate life.

TRASHION SHOOT -

inspired by renaissance and plastic. I wanted to picture the model in a state like Millais painting ‘Ophelia’- suggestions of death and unawareness. I wanted to use plastic yellow gloves to resemble hands of plastic killing the model/society. I used treacle to create an oil spill effect and quite a demonic aesthetic in the photograph. Shot in the bath to create reflection of light with plastic to have he harsh flash present

when looking at street photography I LOVE Bruce Gildens approach. I take interest in this fill the frame style of portrait as it leaves you with no space to look around the photograph. The subject matter is very dominant on the screen -something id like to take into spread layouts on my publication.
