"we both lost our children, but she had all the shame, the reproach at the hate and I was really nervous about meeting this woman. I asked the Lord "what am i supposed to say to this mother? And the Lord said "ask her who her son was before April the 20th of 1999" and I did, and tears just rolled down Sue's cheeks. She said "nobody wants to know anything about my little boy I raised from a little tiny baby" and I just saw a mother's heart, and I had that same feeling for Rachel"

"while I was taking a break from playing and sat down in the grass, I looked down and there on my leg was a huge spider! I jumped up screaming and started frantically jumping trying to get it off of me. I ran inside crying and Rachel - not knowing what had happened -immediately just grabbed me, hugged me and started comforting me. I told her what happened and she just continued to hold me and tell me that everything was alright. Rachel did not let go of me until I eventually calmed down."

“We did make a conscious choice to forgive. Forgiveness is a process of healing. It doesn’t matter to the boys if we practice forgiveness.But if you aren’t able to forgive it creates a life sentence for you. It locks you down to that moment in time when you were violated, when you were hurt. For Rachel it was a life sentence. It was over. I choose not to make it my life sentence by letting go of those boys. Forgiveness is me saying, what you did to me is not okay but I choose to forgive you because I’m not going to live in the pain of that for the rest of my life. You’re not going to control me because I’m not going to let what you did to me define me for the rest of my days.”

"At the time Rachel passed away she was employed by Subway, her first job. The first time I went in to surprise her she saw me, she was helping a couple but she perked up, she was excited and proud. So was I. She smiled big and tried to not look at me until it was my turn. She later told me I made her nervous but she was so happy to see me. I can remember that day like it was yesterday. "
