fallenincalifornia:
“Again, yes, I promise. Is it really that bad?”
“Fallen, this is if it would have happened a year ago, I’d be on my way to jail bad.”
sgt-b-kennedy:
“I dont’ care if you want something; I care that you want something with an 18 year old,” Bailey could feel his temper flaring “I’m sorry you’re lonely and I”m sorry that things happened the way they did, Scout, but this insane. Everyone would call you a cougar and as you can see he already manged to fuck off out of your life.”
‘This wasn’t my intention. I didn’t think it would happen this way, but it did, and I can’t change that now.” She huffed, her voice defensive. “Of all people, I thought you would understand wanting something that somebody else doesn’t want you to have.”
sgt-b-kennedy:
Bailey huffed again, trying to keep his temper in check. “Okay. I can respect that aspect, Scout, but what were you gonna do if you could? Date someone almost ten years younger than you? I’m sorry he just fucked off but honestly don’t…. do that.”
“Would it really be so bad if I wanted something, Bailey?” She asked, almost offended. “Is it so horrible that I miss the idea of somebody loving me?” She bit into her bottom lip. It wasn’t as though this younger boy loved her. But, the chance was there, wasn’t it? Maybe she was just hopeful, desperate for somebody to care for her once more, by this point in her life. “Seven years,” She corrected him.
sgt-b-kennedy:
Bailey’s face slowly turned into a frown as she kept talking, exhaling almost harshly through his nose. “Jesus fucking Christ, Scout. Are you kidding me? God,” He crossed his arms tightly across his chest. “You better not be knocked up again”
“No, that’s not..” She shook her head. “It’s the point that I did something completely reckless, and I should have known better, and I shouldn’t have let it go on as long as I did.. but for the first time since..” Her voice broke off, certain her brother would know what she speaking of, despite the fact that she’d never opened up about the loss of the husband previously, and wouldn’t anytime soon. “It’s the first time anybody has looked at me as something more than a single mother, and now I can’t even get ahold of him.”
sgt-b-kennedy:
“His name is Raymond, yes,” he laughed a little to himself. “I was just trying to make you laugh, I know you wouldn’t. What did you do?”
“Fair enough.” She nodded, lips pressed together tightly. “He was a college kid in the neighborhood and he’s been around the house a few times, helping with a few chores, normal things, and I swear it was never my intention to do anything like this, I just..” Her arms fell to her sides, defeated. “I messed up, and I’m just thankful he was legal. Barely, but legal.”
sgt-b-kennedy:
“I’ll try to refrain from too much judgement, but. If it makes you the family paraih,” his tone was joking as he gave her a lopsided smile. “What did you so? Sell Marshall?“
“I’ll take that with a grain of salt.” She half grinned, forced and noticeably so. “No, I would never sell my son. God, Bailey.” She sighed. “Have you ever met somebody that knew you shouldn’t get involved with, but for some godforsaken reason, you do it anyways?”
sgt-b-kennedy:
“Scout, I’m your brother. I can’t make any promises. What happened?”
“I guess I should expect that by now.” Scout sighed. “I think I did something I shouldn’t have, and I knew it wasn’t the right decision, but now I just..”
“Promise you aren’t going to judge me if I tell you what happened?”

Scout: that’s a really long time.. Maybe go but get separate rooms?
Bailey: why do you think I should go and why do You think we should get separate rooms?
Scout: I think you should go because if you don’t you’ll have missed out on an exciting opportunity you might never get again. I think you should have different rooms because sharing one might be too much too soon. Sometimes being around somebody too long can cause a lot of issues. Maybe this way you guys can go and have fun and occasionally sneak into each other’s room but have the option to sleep alone and have some “you time” at the end of the day.
Bailey: You don’t think it would be too much? We haven’t been dating for that long but… I also know I’ll miss him….
Scout: exactly why you need your own rooms.
