I love this opening sequence

“With all due respect, this is not the same situation. While yes, we have farmer and working class citizens rising up to fight the oppression of the nobles and royals. You did not recruit every last person to carry the name Assassin. If you have the will to fight, join the assassins! is partially our motto. Instead of having an elite team of skilled individuals, those that can be trusted with a given task and trusted to do the right things by adhering to our tenets, instead we are treated like children needing to ask permission. Instead of the council focusing on a problem by the means of being an assassin, instead they hope to fight the power by political means only.”
“Will the British submit to our political demands to reopened the waterways to our ships so that we may attempt to get grain into the country? No. Will they submit if we destroy their ships and forts? Perhaps. While I can understand the hesitation in not wishing to invoke a war when the country itself is the the middle of a personal one. They have already extended an invitation for it by blocking our ships.”
“Besides, we have built some of the best ships ever known. If the council was not so blind to its political game, they could extend a message to the pirate brotherhood. Pirates attacking the british will not invoke war on us or we could always disguise our ships as one of their other enemy nations but instead. The council plays games while people starve and invite an army of people wanting nothing more then blood to carry the name Assassin.” He rambled and ranted, several idea’s going through his had at once with no means or permission to act on them.
“Desole, back to my point. A small group of well trained assassin are much easy to manage then a large group of untrained ones. Because there are so many and so many joining our ranks, no one has an idea what they are properly doing. The council is partially drowning in reports and choose to ignore more of them. Because we have to ask permission to kill a target, it is nearly impossible to find that target again. Not to mention the spies who can easily join our ranks. If there is a bright side to this, it is that the Templars here are in worse shape than we are.”
“Yes, that is quite the predicament you’ve found yourself in. For a Brotherhood as well established as the French rite, one would think your council would be more scrutinizing. Perhaps it is desperation that drives them, or pure arrogance due to the success you’re country’s brotherhood has seen. Either way the council, while building an army that is hard to rival, number may look nice, but it is strategy that wins a war. You can have all the soldiers you like and still throw away every life.”
“I am a man who takes many risks. However my brotherhood is not made up of pawns whose lives I can risk as I do my own. They are friends, people I worry and care about, even if they were trained primarily by Dobby, or Stephane, or any of my other seasoned Assassins. As their mentor it is my duty to teach, and watch over every single member of my brotherhood, just as it is your council’s duty. That is the very definition of a mentor. I am not one for fearing authority, or prestigious histories and I am known to be quite argumentative, my own mentor must have yelled himself hoarse often. This visit is bound to become a spectacle.”
“Dio mio.. It is hard to believe I have survived for so long. Romulus must have bigger plans for me.”
“Perhaps he does. One can never be certain.”
“I forgot how a good sea battle could get my blood flowing! Sail around attacking ships. That’s the life.” “I know that feeling. It seems to run in my family.” “Your father was a seafarer, then?” “My grandfather, Edward. He sailed with a rough crew, or so I am told.” “For the king?” “For himself. But that is a long tale for another day, Mr. Faulkner.”
[Gotta love these fancy new icons. I got feathers, dawg]

“It sounds like a better way to gaining members in my opinion. We have some three hundred members and still growing. While my circumstances for joining seem reasonable, I do not know how all the others have joined. We have had a few spies join and poisoned some of our food. Some have succeeded in killing our member, other have brought them to justice while in some cases they were executed on the spot. While you are one leader, they are five and each seems to decide who may join while some of the higher ranked members may also recruit. We seem to be more of an unskilled army then a group of deadly killers.” He commented.
“A withering plant still has the chance to thrive if given what it needs. I have seen farmers rise against an entire nation and come out victorious. Taking in a great deal of new members might seem to leave you with less skilled, but only by proportion, and it leaves with both the chance of failure but also great potential. Yes, it would be wise to be more selective in who is permitted to join, but also quite foolish to turn away any possible help. It is very much a double edged sword.”
((Once I get all of my icons done I’ll be able to focus on the rest of the blog and do all of that. Right now I still have half the game to go through, plus the DLC
wish me luck))
