Theon looked up quickly as someone sat across from. He smiled when he realized it was just Wanda. “It’s okay.” He shrugged. “I just don’t really feel like eating.”

Nodding she started eating her own food, not really having much of an appetite herself. “Feeling uneasy about something?”

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Twins. Orphaned at ten when a shell collapsed their apartment building. He’s got increased metabolism and improved thermal homeostasis. Her thing is neuroelectric interfacing, telekinesis, and mental manipulation. He’s fast and she’s weird.

Theon played with his food. He hadn’t really felt like eating much since the attack. But he knew if he didn’t eat enough, he won’t be able to control a shift so he forced himself to eat something. He sighed and took a bite of the food he was picking at.

Wanda grabbed something to eat on the way from seeing how the other SHIELD members were doing. The battle was fought hard and the emerged victorious. She knew she should probably take it easy to build up her strength from helping tony with the barrier, but with it in place there was nothing for her to be too worried about and she could take her time recovering. Seeing another playing with his food she decided to join him. “Not good?” she asked sitting across from him.

Theon leaned into her, subconsciously wanting more petting. Thanks. I needed to hear that. At least he was doing something right. I can keep it up until its over. I can. He whined, looking up at her. He needed to focus on the problem at hand. He could deal with his own problems later.

Wanda continued to pet his head before drawing back slightly. She could do this all day, but she still had her post to return to and copies to destroy. “I know this is exhausting and you want to take a rest, it’s just a matter of time.”

Theon let out a little sigh as he relaxed when he realized it was just Wanda and not another copy agent. I’m sorry. He whined, walking over to her. Hie ears were moving in all directions trying to pick up the sound of anyone sneaking up on them. How is it up there? He barked. He was tired. The battle was enough, emotional factors of it were putting him over the edge. He just wanted to be done. Seeing someone who he knew for sure was on his side made him feel a little better.

Her body relaxed when she saw he dropped his stance. If he was guarding the younger inhumans, and he wasn’t for HYDRA then of course he was one of their own. Kneeling down to his level, she petted the top of his head. “You’ve been doing a really good job down here keeping everyone safe. I bet you’re exhausted keeping all of this up, the battle should be over soon and the copies all destroyed.” It was just a matter of time and when she would see Tony towards the eve of the battle to finish their last assignment.

“I’m here to see if Luca is ok, have you seen him?” he asked her, not wanting to start a fight with the scarlet witch. This was between shield and Hydra, not the Rogues. “If you’ll tell me I’ll get out of your way and you can get back to the hell outside.”

She remembered him from the Academy and the reports that stated he had gone Rogue. Since this was a battle she still had to remain on her guard. “Luca?” she asked trying to match the name with the face. “The conductor? Tell me what your business is with him and then I’ll tell you.”

Theon didn’t know what was happening anymore. People he thought were loyal to SHIELD, loyal to him, had gone to Hydra. He didn’t know what to believe, so he just did what supposed to do. Protect the underage kids in the Cellar. If he could do one thing right he hoped it could be protecting them. He knew it wasn’t being a good judge of character, apparently. Theon stayed on the battlefield but attacked anyone who came close to the direction of the cellar. He had just finished disarming and making sure another copy-agent couldn’t fire another weapon without extensive surgery, when he heard someone behind him. His ears went back and he growled, baring his teeth. 

How many copies had she actually destroyed now? It was hard to keep track and the entire battle was reminding her of the one in Sokovia. Using her blasts she destroyed them one by one hoping to rendezvous with Tony so they could finish their assignment and end this battle once and for all. Running down to the cellar she pushed through the door before sealing it shut again. There were children there, and before heading off she needed to know they were safe. Stepping closer she heard a low growl. Dog guarding the cellar, he was with SHIELD and so was she. “Čekati, hey it’s me Wanda,” she said holding up her hands showing she meant no harm.

“Come in.” Annabella called as she heard the knock on the door. It was more recently that she had returned from San Juan. The happiest moment of her life was realizing that she had her old powers back. Not only did she feel less emotional, but she also was able to hide everything once more. When she saw Wanda, she smiled a little. “I’ve been good. Better now that I am not controlling the weather. What about you? It’s been awhile it seems.”

“So now I know who is to blame for the extremely cloudy days?” she joked stepping further inside the room. “I’ve been pretty good, busy doing a lot of Avenger things. I am glad this second wave is over, I was tired of being stung by my own powers. It becomes pretty painful after a while.”

He nodded swiftly, understanding their connection was a long stronger in their bonds, as far as he had seen in the past. The Dougals were nothing but a bunch of bullies that had money, and that was the last thing HYDRA needed. It was going to make his job tougher than anything he’s faced before. “Sleep state, that’s good. That’s something we can definitely work on. Killing’s not an option for us. There are already too many people that want them dead, trying to hunt and kill the Inhumans with everything they’ve got.” He sighed slowly after taking his short breath. “Brainwashed or not, our job is to keep things in line, we are here to protect our base, and, ultimately our people.”

She understood. Even though part of her thought she was being too soft in thinking of ways to spare those whose minds are no longer their own, she knew she needed to keep that human part of her intact. No matter how hard HYDRA came at them, familiar faces would be used as a weapon and she needed to keep the objective in mind.  “I understand,” she said holding up her hand letting the red waves dance across her skin. “If the base falls then HYDRA wins, at least in this game of chess no? I’ll do what I can to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

She looked to the woman who spoke. Her eyes holding a sadness that was paired with her fear. Typically, she wouldn’t want someone to feel pity for her. It was different this time though. Pity allowed her to know that at least someone in this place cared. “Please.” Rose said unsure of who the woman was and why she was offering her water and food. “I should be home. Why wouldn’t he take me home?” She muttered to herself, as she shook her head. The longer she stayed in her cell the more affirmed she was in the fact that Steve should have ever been trusted.

Wanda nodded and motioned to the guard on call to bring her a cup of water and something to eat. It probably wouldn’t be much, but it was better than allowing her to starve no matter what her crimes may have been. Before she could turn and give her the message from the guard she heard her mutter something and that sparked her interest. Just who was this girl. “The guard will bring it momentarily. What you said, why didn’t who take you home?”
