Been a little reflective on this whole authoring adventure lately. It’s funny how like our books this journey is. The backstories. The twists and turns. The antagonists, and the friends we make along the way. Read this book as an ARC past year and was well and truly blown away. When I was in school, #odysseyofthemind was a godsend. I was a creative kid who didn’t really fit with the sports crowd at all, and yet here was this competition that focused on my #creativity, and let me shine and succeed in ways I couldn’t before. 💡 I love that @jackieyeagerauthor based her debut #middlegrade Novel on #ootm. The idea that there’s this grand, magical world out there that’s waiting to be discovered always spoke to me as a kid. It told me that my limited, often painful experience wasn’t all there was to see, and that if I could just find my door, or my map, or whatever that thing was that would take me away from it, the world on the other side would be worth it all. I love seeing books that transport kids to those other worlds, where the conflicts make sense and kids can actually do something about their problems. It made me feel in control back then, and that’s why I continue to write those stories. . I’ve had this table ever since I was a teenager, when I found it in a pawn shop. It’s not very practical, but man is it beautiful. Do y’all have anything that’s not super practical but you keep just because it’s unique/interesting??
