The scene in Solomon where Ozymandias is about to leave the battle, sees Arash, and instantly changes his mind is really funny and kinda gay when you first see it, but it’s also really amazing if you think about it in the correct context.

Ozy and Arash have both fought in a Grail War before, specifically the first Holy Grail War of Tokyo in 1991. That’s the Grail War taking place in the light novel/drama CD series “Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver”. The two of them fought in the same Grail War, along with Arthur (Prototype), Brynhildr, Jekyll, Paracelsus von Hohenheim, and Hassan of the Serenity.

So Ozymandias doesn’t see some random 1☆ Archer and decide on a whim to join in the final fight, he sees the Archer from his Grail War, a man whose skills he acknowledges and respects, and decides to fight alongside his former rival for the Grail.

He doesn’t mention that Grail War in the story, only in either his Interlude or his Valentine’s cutscene (I don’t have Ozy so I can’t tell you which), so most players wouldn’t have the context unless they decided to read/listen to Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver after finding out that it exists (which probably is a much easier thing to know about and do if you’re in Japan).

But at the end of the day, whether you have the exact context of the scene or not, in that moment Ozymandias decided he wanted Arash to top him and plans to make it happen.

I have a whole AU built around this scenario in which Ozymandias is a CEO of a coffee house chain and he kinda takes it upon himself to gather intel on the “hot and happenin’” indie cafe that’s outselling one of their branches.  Of course he ends up getting thirsty for Arash (thinking the poor guy is just a barista) and tries to hire him.
