i was wondering if there was any community outside of CPM to discuss kalafina stuff that you're aware of? the CPM discord & forum are super negative and unproductive so i kinda don't like visiting there but i miss being part of a kajiura/kalafina community & you're a pretty big community source

I know exactly what you mean. For these very reasons I don’t like visiting the cpm forum either. Don’t get me wrong, the page itself has contributed A LOT to the fandom in the past and I totally respect that but these days both the page and the forum are a mere shadow of what they used to be.
Unfortunately, there aren’t really any other big English-speaking YK/Kala-communities out there. CPM is still your best bet I am afraid. You have various Facebook fanpages and communities of course but often they tend to be even worse than the cpm forum. There are a couple of really nice and well-organised groups on Facebook but they are mostly regional so if you don’t speak the language you won’t be able to do much there. Also, there are very big Russian and Chinese Kalafina/YK fan-communities but once again, if you don’t speak the language, you will be pretty much lost on those sites.
Personally, I like to stay on tumblr. We have our own little “community” here and while at first glance tumblr might not seem like the BEST place to interact with each other, it actually offers quite a wide range of options (i.e. ask/message/reply function).
And even though I am not a fan of blowing my own trumpet I am pretty sure that there’s no other blog, page or community out there that provides information on Kalafina as fast and thoroughly as I do. [ehh…that came across as more conceited than I wanted it to…sorry >_<]
Er, what? How exactly is the CPM discord ‘super negative’, anon? It’s usually pretty wholesome in there and has plenty of love for the Kalagirls, and is most definitely not at all like the forum. Fuck the forum.
Also many of those people in the chat are also part of the tumblr fandom, for what it’s worth. I’d rather posts like this don’t risk further fracturing the fandom past the state it’s already in.
Guide: How to get your hands on Kalafina goodies
I have been getting a lot of asks about this topic recently. Usually those questions come from new fans or from fans who have never bought any of Kalafina’s music releases or their merchandise. Buying Kalafina related items can be quite intimidating for us foreign fans, everything is expensive and it all seems to be out of reach. But fret not, it’s actually not THAT bad. Here’s a simple guide on how (and where) to buy all kinds of Kalafina related products. Don’t hesitate to ask if you still have any questions left after reading this.
Sorry, I have had this in my drafts for a couple of days. I was so distracted by all the Kalafina related news that I completely forgot about this :P Anyways, let‘s get this thing started…
Some basics:
Have a friend in Japan who is willing to buy stuff for you as soon as it comes out (for most of us that’s not an option but I thought I’d mention it anyways).
Get yourself a credit card or PayPal. Those two things will make your life so much easier when it comes to purchasing items on the sites I will mention later. Some sites accept debit cards but most of them don’t.
Download an add-on/app for your browser that helps you translate the content on Japanese sites. Usually google translate will suffice but it doesn’t hurt to have something else.
Make yourself familiar with your country’s customs regulations. In many cases you will not be able to avoid being charged various customs and import fees so it really helps to know what you have to expect.
Be prepared to spend a lot of money. Kalafina stuff is not exactly cheap (this applies to both the music releases as well as the merchandise). While you will be able to make some good deals on second-hand websites, most rare items will be sold for a very high price.
Comprise a list of all the things you want (add the original price for future reference). So much stuff has been released in the past decade, it’s not easy to keep track of everything (especially if you add all the different store privileges and other bonus items). Here’s a comprehensive list of all the music releases. This incomplete compilation on cpm will give you a rough idea when it comes to merch/live goods. Also, check out these albums on the Kalafina Facebook Fanpage => Merchandise/Live Goods/ Store privileges. @seasonreaper mentioned that he is working on his very own list so if you need info on rare Kala-items, he is your best chance. Of course you can also ask me, while I am certainly not super savvy when it comes to old Kalafina merchandise, I am sure I can find info on pretty much everything Kalafina-related XD

Guess since I’ve been mentioned now I should crack down on making progress. Might see if I can get an example of what I’m going for up over the weekend before I finalise it.
I did find some stuff in bookoff whist I was in Japan, but some of the larger stores are incomprehensible to search through quickly so be sure to set aside time. It’s full of absolute bargains for many artists so it’s worth it. The one in Ikebukuro is good. I got my LE Seventh Heaven there. I have seen pamphlets in places like kbooks too.
If there is any wish lists people are uploading, feel free to tag me or send me an ask. I regularly check a lot of places (usually a few times a day) for updates on available merch, so if there is something specific people are looking for I’ll give a shout out if I find it. I own almost everything I want already so you don’t need to worry much about me taking it either unless it’s something exceedingly rare (I will mercilessly fight you at auction for Door shirts or a moonfesta release promo poster for example) so I’m happy to link things. I also pay attention to rarer items as theyre for sale too, so I can probably give some idea of what things usually sell for.
I will probably also catalogue what I do have already at some point as images of items in real life are usually better to go by than stock advertisement shots. I’ll probably upload photos of my collection here on tumblr soon as well, but that’s more for personal purposes than what I’m planning on for the guide. Also I’ll likely create a separate blog to contain things to one, easier accessible source.

Hi, first of all, thank you for your hard work providing Kalafina information. I've been a fan of the group for all of their carreer over this 10 years, unfortunately I've never been able to buy their merchandise and cds over the years as I live in South America and was a lowly student (the live of the poor TnT), now that I'm working I wanted to buy something (finally!!), so should I buy the 10 anniversary live BD or something else, what do you recomend??

Sorry for the late reply, I have been quite busy these past few days and there was other stuff I wanted to get done first before replying to this ask. Also, I thought I’d use the opportunity to comprise an extenstive guide on how to get your hands on Kalafina releases and merchandise so I have been busy writing that as well (expect a post about it soon).
Oh wow, that’s mighty impressive, can’t say I have been a fan this long. As for your question, I’d say you should totally go ahead and buy their 10th Anniversary Live.
It’s a massive live with 27 songs performed in total so you are definitely getting your money’s worth. Plus, the setlist is AMAZING! As a long-time fan I am sure you will appreciate that the live felt very reminiscent of their older concerts (very basic and focused on the singing) and that a big chunk of the live was dedicated to KnK songs. However, the concert also included many of their more mainstream fan-favourite anime tie-ins such as “to the beginning”, “ring your bell”, “heavenly blue” or “Hyakka Ryouran” (it’s a shame “Magia” didn’t get that many votes in the poll because I feel it would have made the setlist PERFECT). Last but not least, we got a lot of rare songs (some of which have never been included in any sort of official release). First we have the recent songs “Hyakka Ryouran” and “Kantan Katan”. Then we have the rarely performed “lirica” and “serenato” (major highlights of this live for sure!) and of course we also have some other pieces such as “Yane no Mukou ni” or “Kizuato” that haven’t gotten a lot of attention in the past.
Vocally, this was a very good live for them as well. Wakana was consistent throughout the concert which is incredibly impressive considering her troubles in the past and the fact that this was their longest live ever. You can tell she really worked on her stamina and vocal strength. Keiko was Keiko, she brought her A-game as usual. At times she was a bit shouty and here and there she switched a lot between her super deep and cutesy voice (which was intentional but I guess there are many people who don’t like that). Hikaru did an amazing job in their more upbeat and recent songs but she clearly struggled a bit with some of their older ballads. However, I think she slayed in “ARIA” (although many would disagree with me).
All in all, I think you should definitely go for it o(〃＾▽＾〃)o
CDJapan is probably your best/cheapest option: (Blu-ray )Kalafina 10th Anniversary LIVE 2018 at Nippon Budokan They do ship to a few countries in South America so I hope yours is included in the list (SAL; EMS; DHL; FedEx). However, please note that both the first press bonus (storage box for the 10th Anniversary live and film) as well as the tokuten (original poster) are no longer available due to high demand.
Since you asked for other recommendations as well 〈(•ˇ‿ˇ•)-→In my opinion, all of their live releases are worth buying (but I recommend you try finding them on a second-hand shopping site.) My personal top three are without a doubt “Red Moon”, “After Eden” and “far on the water” (in no particular order). Their “Arena Live” is also amazing because they got to experiment a lot with the stage production. They incorporated so many of their own ideas in this live, it feels very special. Plus, it’s probably their most relatable and most intimate live release ever.
For what it’s worth, I’m (slowly) putting together some sort of conclusive list of everything that’s been released merch wise over the decade. I’m lazy and slow and some things are hard to find info on so it’ll be a while, but merch knowledge is kinda my speciality when it comes to Kalafina. So if you want any specific info just send me an ask.

The fact that NANA will never properly end is really quite saddening. The anime is also fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s reading this, as if Hikaru’s recommendation wasn’t enough. The soundtracks are wonderful too, with BLAST’s works done by Anna Tsuchiya and TRAPNEST’s by OLIVIA. both of whom are also great.
Seeing these photos and reading this makes me really want Hikaru to join a rock band, honestly. She’s always suited Kalafina’s rock songs well and if this is anything to go by, I reckon she’d fit in nicely.

Wakana visits Miyajima Aquarium. During a little bit of freetime between the Yamaguchi and Hiroshima 「Kalafina Acoustic Tour 2017 ~”+ONE” with Strings~」 performance the fanclub joined Wakana on her trip to Hiroshima’s Miyajima Aquarium!

There are lots of cute fish that look like Nemo! There’s a great photospot where it seems like you are in the middle of the sea! A huge sea lion was swimming around in the tank. The otter was so cute! I couldn’t stop looking at it.
In the midst of taking pictures at Itsukishima Shrine! The big torii provides an amazing view when the tide is out. It is one of the Three Views of Japan!
Wakana watches a shark movie! Wakana’s recommended shark movie is “The Shallows”! She started the screening well prepared…with candy and a cushion!? A hot-dog in my right hand, juice in my left hand, I am ready to go! Shark plushie: “I can’t wait ♪ !“ Speaking of films, I always make snacks such as hot-dogs and popcorn, I’ve prepared lots of stuff for my shark film!
We start watching the movie together with staff members in the audio room at the agency. At the beginning Wakana is super composed. “The popcorn is so yummy!” When the shark appears for the first time Wakana’s face becomes serious…”Oh no…!” There are lots of scary scenes that make you cover your eyes out of fear. So scary! After the film is over we have to reward ourselves with some more snacks!
The shark’s leading role in the movie as well as the portrayal of its movements are amazing! Everyone, please be sure to watch this film!!
This time it was all about, “let’s watch a shark movie!” We watched “The Shallows” just now, what made you choose this particular film? Truth is, it’s because I love the lead character played by Blake Lively! She is the actress from “Gossip Girl”. Blake’s body is simply amazing…she is so cute!!
The shark was scary! The shark in the movie is portrayed in a very negative light. Not very likable at all…This is actually the 4th time I am watching the film.When I watched it today I made some new observations. “Ah, I wonder if it attacked the people due to that reason…” The shark is really not such a bad guy!
Are there real sharks appearing in “The Shallows”? The shark in this film is CGI but the creators were inspired by the movements of real sharks so even though the shark is fake, it looks very real. But I don’t wanna talk too much about the content since I want all of you to watch the movie and really, Blake is so cool in it! The way the shark is moving is also amazing! I really want you to see it!
Aside from this you also introduced us to a few other shark movies. Why did you recommend “Deep Blue Sea”? All the sharks in this movie are CGI, they REALLY go on a massive rampage! Those sharks made by humans are super strong! They are really scary *laughs*
What about “Into the Blue”? This film stars the beautiful Jessica Alba! The sea also looks amazing. The sharks that appear in the movie are all real. They have a gorgeous form! Sharks are only attacking humans due to the evil actions of people, that’s very refreshing to watch.
“Jurassic World” is a dinosaur movie, right? Does a shark appear in it? There’s a huge mosasaurus that eats a great white shark. It’s a short moment. *laughs* But sill, I recommend it!
A tiny moment indeed *laughs* Your last recommendation is “Open Water”… Ah yes…The real sharks appearing in this film are amazing! I think I got traumatised! I probably can’t watch it again.
So people who want to watch it should definitely brace themselves…all right, a general comment on shark movies, please. I actually don’t like scary movies. I don’t watch any horror at all. I only watch these movies because of the sharks! I guess that’s what you call dedication. I wanna learn a lot about sharks! However, I do not really like movies where sharks attack humans for no apparent reason. The story is very important! For me sharks are like having a favourite actor, you would watch anything with your favourite actor whether it is a funny or a scary film. I feel the same way about sharks.
