Theo’s eyes widened as the other started pulling out the boxes, reaching to grab one. He looked at the pictures on the top, cocking his head as he twisted the box around. “What is this?” He asked, looking at the other. “Is this food?”
“Yeah, see?” Bastian opened one of the boxes of strawberry Pop Tarts and pulled out the foil wrapped pastries. Then he ripped open the foil and handed one to Theo. “It’s sweet. It’s okay if you don’t like ‘em, I can get you something else. Where are you staying now?”
Do the ghosts of your family ever haunt you?
“Um, not their actual ghosts, as far as I know...But their memories haunt me, that’s for sure. I never go a day without thinking about them and what I could have done differently that might have saved them. I’d...rather not talk about it.”
Have you had any bad experiences at the front desk of the Sheriff's Office?
“Oh yeah, sometimes people come in angry and I have to try to calm them down. Especially when I can’t fix their problem, it can be hard. Also one time, someone came in covered in this greenish goo stuff he picked up in Vinegar Tom and the goo was like, alive like tentacles? Why wouldn’t you just go to the hospital or something, I’m just a receptionist.”
What's your favorite thing about being a selkie?
“Chilling in the ocean and making sea-friends.”
Are you a virgin?
“I guess I just haven’t found the right person yet. I’ve done some other things, but not like, everything. That’s not bad, right? I just want it to be special and that person, whoever they are, haven’t come along yet.”

If you could describe your perfect afternoon what would you be doing?
“Okay, if I can’t count things that couldn’t happen, like seeing my family again, then...I think it would involve a picnic on the beach and maybe some swimming with someone nice and cute. We could play some games and stuff, I could teach them Munchkin or whatever. Maybe comic book shopping after, and iced coffee.”
If you weren't a selkie, what other supernatural being would you want to be? Why?
“I’m not sure, I love being a selkie. I’d have to say a merm, because I can’t imagine not being connected to the ocean, or being something really really old.”
Would you rather speak all languages or be able to talk to animals?
“Talk to animals! I can already talk to sea creatures, so adding all the other animals would be so cool.”
Have you met anyone you'd think of dating in town?
“Ummm, I did but he left, I guess. His name was Red. I liked Cassie too, but she’s having a baby. Have you seen her? She’s so cute!”

Theo hummed softly, smiling at the other. “Not really. I come out here during the day though.” he replied, eyes widening as the other set the backpack down in the sand. “You did?” He replied, dropping to his knees and smiling excitedly. “But I dont have anything for you….”
“Oh, where do you go at night?” he asked, wondering where the young selkie had found shelter. “You can always crash at my place, if you need to. It’s not very big and I only have one bed, but you’re welcome any time.” Bastian’s tiny studio apartment wasn’t fantastic, but he liked it. Bastian zipped open his backpack. “It’s not really a gift, just some stuff to help you. I got a blanket in here, and some food.” He pulled out a few boxes of Pop Tarts.
