Sure, not exactly canon, but it's still the tiniest of glimpses into the daily life of Earthni! Waiting for Daron Nefcy to acknowledge its existence to possibly know if she or anyone from the old crew of the show was involved to an extent, or if this was entirely the child of whatever Disney department works with "promotional" things like this.
This obviously could mean nothing beyond the animators getting old reference materials or literally reusing already existing assets, but seems like Butterfly Castle got repaired.
In my heart of hearts I know everything Ludo showed is actually real even though he said it was all a distraction and I know he actually paints little Buff Frogs (bottom left corner).
The Pigeon Kingdom castle being so close to the city park means no picnic is free from guano. Earthni, what a terrible place!
Also, as a reminder to normal people who might have forgotten a detail or two in the SEVEN YEARS since the finale aired, according to Daron Nefcy the laser puppies are still alive but regular puppies now. Yes, it doesn't make much sense given the effects the destruction of magic had. No, we won't think about it.
Oskar got his car back from the Realm of Magic, Tom learned how to ride dragoncycles enough for Hampton to let him do it, and Roy went from "Goblin Dogs are for select few who earn them" to "it's capitalism, baby. LSD for everyone!" over the course of the show.

Can't believe Ludo is so poor Spider has to read magazines that are almost two years old by now.
Neat reference, and a good way to tell just how different Ludo's voice / acting was in S1 compared to the rest of the show, when he was still your typical megalomaniacally diminutive silly villain rather than a serious threat living through seven different mental health crises as part of his character arc.
Even if the canonicity of this short is extremely partial at best, it's nice for Star to be glad at the idea of Ludo enjoying his life.
They're true to me! I get the comedic potential of Ludo going after the wand now that there's no magic to harness anymore at all, but I hope that in Canon Land, in the sweet dreams for a fifth season (now with a budget increase) Daron has when falling asleep, Ludo maintains his progress from S4 and is living his best life without thinking about the wand anymore.
I also hope that Earthni gets more textures for the sky and that the blue-lilac one is just, like, at sunset. Would be boring for all scenes to have the same background!
Since Star's finale took place more or less in 2016 while Amphibia takes place in 2019, this sentence clearly tells us two things:
Ludo has deep knowledge of the multiverse and its mysteries and was aware of the location of the Calamity Box and its function years before the events of the series.
Earth completely obliterated the Mewni part of Earthni, additional moons and suns included, before the events of Amphibia, restoring Los Angeles / the universe to its natural order.
Have you watched âthe ghost and Molly McGeeâ? If not, I think you should watch it, just to give it a try. The reason that I bring this show up to you itâs because lately, there have been people hating the â relationshipâ between the main character, Molly and her âlove interestâ, Ollie. Some people have been hating the hell out of the character of Ollie, and the reasons people give are ridiculous to say the least. Most of the people are just mad that their personal ships sink after the character of Ollie debuted on season 2 which premiered not too long ago, or they claim that the character of Ollie hasnât been developed properly âwhich I disagree completely I think heâs development has been great. This reminds me of all the svtfoe shipping battles back in the old days and made me remember your deep analysis of the show back then, and I thought âhuh I wonder how Seddm would analyze this howâ. Iâm just so curious as to what your opinion would be on all of this. It would be great if you would check it out, I WILL say tho that the show itâs pretty different from STVFOE . Itâs mainly âepisodicâ rather than following an actual storyline but I will say that in season 2, the show does start following a storyline, at least much more than in season1 season itâs still pretty good, just that season 2 itâs a bit better. I watched S1 of the show, and eventually I'll probably check out S2 as well, and while it was entertaining - I especially enjoy how over the top the facial expressions are, I'm going to be brutally honest: it didn't catch my attention and interest enough for me to form any kind of "analysis" opinion beyond a very surface level entertainment. Might change once I start S2, but as things are right now, I don't have the drive to look at it with the kind of fandom-eye needed to form opinions. Sorry! But I did see something of what was going around the internet when the first leak involving Ollie appeared, and I thing I can understand what you mean. Shippers are gonna ship, after all. Had I been a, don't know, Molly x Libby shipper, I too would have been miffed at sudden competition appearing. Even more since, in this specific case, the former had (so far?) absolutely no romantic undertones, while the latter was presented as a crush from the get go.
It's weird that Star and Marco's friends think Mariposa was their daughter (they only have 15 people!!), but when you think about it, they disappeared for a year, and when they come back, they have a baby that looks exactly like Marco. After all, they only added one plus one...
That's reasonable. What's unreasonable is Disney approving an episode with multiple gags implying underaged babymaking between the main characters when they routinely censor stuff like not using seatbelts or saying "homeless".
Stupid thing, but here in Brazil it's very difficult for me to watch The Owl House in the language, because most of SVTFOE's voice actors are there, and it makes me remember the good times of the series, how I miss them! (This also made me feel angry at Amity, she has the same voice actor as the pony head lol, and they did the sacrilege of putting Star's voice on Boscha!! But at least Hunter has no annoying voice here, he has the same voice as Adult Gohan from Dragon Ball, an epic voice.)

Star Vs related? Almost certainly zero, best case scenario Daron might tell whether the non-Disney project she's working on is still in progress or if they cancelled it like way too many cartoons in the past few months.

It's definitely a very fanservice-y piece since it's made to, well, sell signatures, with hints of Jantom and Kelly's nonsensical presence (she's not with Tad anymore, that's neat!), but it's still the most canon post-canon piece of anything we have, and a very happy and good one at that. And that feels good.
The last few episodes of Star vs seemed to imply that Toffee was still inside of Marco somehow, like how he uttered "I didn't want this" in Mama Star. Do you suppose that he's the reason why Marco's stab wasn't fatal, or why a teenaged Meteora regarded Marco suspiciously back in the Neverzone?
Sorry for the super late answer, Tumblr ate the notification! You think so? To me it didn't seem like the show implied any connection whatsoever between Marco and Toffee.
The stab wasn't fatal because destroying magic removed all consequences of magic as well, wound included - according to Adam this was supposed to be a matter of urgency during the climax of the episode, but they then cut / never animated most of the scenes related to it; and the running gag of Meteora disliking Marco is just a reference to Heinous hating Turdina, something she apparently instinctively remembers from her past life.
Soo I started watching Star vs. again and I wanna share one of my after thoughts with you.
Mmkay so in Lint Catcher, Star was LEGIT serious in giving Marco the FARTHEST squiring job there is in the castle; for the SOLE PURPOSE of keeping him AWAY FURTHER from her. Only to end up appointing HIM her PERSONAL SQUIRE, which actually pulls them CLOSER to each other. Binding them in a VOW, of which Marco solidly accepted.
Boy, these two are literally 'will they, won't they' and while rewatching the show is both painstaking and heartwarming, I still do adore their journey so much.

Also, at this point I'm never going to finish the "relationship analysis" megaposts, but have what I wrote and never published for Lint Catcher, since you mentioned a number of themes from the episode.

This episode (very briefly) marks the lowest point for Marco and Starâs relationship in the show, and becomes the beginning of a new arc for Marco, and for their relationship.
Following the events and realizations of Sophomore Slump (which are still a work in progress, Marco knows that he wants to try this new experience, but he hasnât fully connected the dots between âMewniâ and âwanting to be with Starâ) Marco goes back to Mewni, and Starâs greetings are... less than warm. Letâs make something immediately clear: Star is not reacting like that because Marco didnât warn he was coming back to Mewni - sheâs obviously not one to mind something like that, nor because heâs a bit entitled about wanting a better role than being Lavaboâs squire per se. The real problem is that heâs trying to come back into her life as if nothing changed, when in Scent of a Hoodie he broke her heart by not acknowledging her confession in the slightest and implicitly going âthis is where our roads split, weâre going on our own journeys nowâ, when Star would have clearly loved to keep journeying with him, especially during such a moment of change in her life (which, as I mentioned, partially explains why she was so easily attracted back to Tom).
While talking about the end of Jarco and the beginning of Tomstar, Star and Marco quite literally descend to the lowest point (of the castle). The whole scene is clearly awkward and tense, and we know that Star and Marco are awkward and tense together only when thereâs something they should talk about to fix things.
Could be just a joke about Lavabo and his interests, but itâs hard not to see some potential symbolism for Star and Marco being together again.
Marcoâs objection is reasonable, but sounds also very entitled; and Starâs annoyance is reasonable, but itâs also absolutely not true that Marco never appreciates what Star does. Theyâre both far from being at their best and they have communication issues right now.
Just like she did in Bonbon The Birthday Clown, Star is trying to rationalize what she feels right now, Mind VS Heart. As I said the real problem is not that Marco came back asking for a job, but that he left Star to begin with (and not because Star ever demanded for Marco to forever be with her, but because he departed in a shitty way, without promising to see each other again, he was essentially running away from having to think too hard about what he wanted to do with Star and what her role in his life was), and Star is trying to blame it on something easier, more accessible and that doesnât require her to look back at painful recent events or change the delicate new balance of her life.
A new balance thatâs clearly sub-optimal, because even if sheâs not actively crushing on Marco anymore (thanks to the events from Scent of a Hoodie and, especially, to Tom having provided an easy bandage), deep down she still wants him around.
As soon as the situation gets dangerous, Star and Marco shift back into âautopilot modeâ and let their Hearts do the talking, and their Hearts go âYou are kickass partners in crime and you can do anything together and love doing it togetherâ, and this gives them the push they both needed to talk.
Marco apologizes, and Star explains (in a way, itâs not like she gives full point by point exposition since she herself isnât aware about most of what it means) what the real problem is: after having defeated Toffee, Star decided to begin being a princess in her own way, doing something using her powers, and without Marco there to help her she was scared and had to turn her life around, resorting to Tom as a way to get some help (or at least she thought so, since she actually barely ends up involving him in her life during this season), because as I mentioned the person Star needs the most in her life is a companion who can help her feel more grounded and less overwhelmed, a âlifelineâ in her crazy life of high stakes and goals. And with Marcoâs return Star feared this delicate new balance she made for herself - a second choice balance - might have been ruined, making her feel once again as she did in Scent of a Hoodie. But thatâs not the case obviously and she realizes it now, more or less unconsciously.
So what does Star do? She creates a âboxâ, the Squirehood Box, and puts Marco in it: if her bestie has a clearly defined role in her life itâs going to be easier for her not to feel confused about her own feelings, Tom has the BOYFRIEND label, Marco has the SQUIRE one. Obviously this is not going to work, as Iâm going to mention talking about the next segment: if anything soon enough Star is going to start involving Marco in all the parts of her life that arenât strictly âdating stuffâ, feeling naturally attracted by him as a person, while Marco is going to sink deeper and deeper into this box that Star made for him, because itâs going to provide an easy if temporary way for him to conciliate his desire to be at Starâs side with the knowledge about his unrequited crush on her.
And given the dubbing vows (which are interestingly mixed with some wedding vows imagery) it was pretty clear since the beginning just how important Marcoâs role in Starâs life is, and how he encapsulates all that is important to her, even if Star herself was unaware just how much she wanted him to be involved in this new life of her in this moment (as evidenced by her words in Trial By Squire, weâll get to it soon).
I hereby declare that you, Marco Ubaldo Diaz, shall henceforth be my royal squire, to stay by my side in times of peace or danger, as my most trusted
confidant and advisor. To go clubbing with me even when he's too tired, to share his late night nachos, but most importantly to be my very best friend so long as we both shall live. Amen.
The vows mention everything thatâs important to Star: Marcoâs role as someone who is there to advise and help her, but also someone who has fun with her, a peer, not a guide, and someone who is always going to be her best friend, because everything they share stems from their friendship before anything else.
And itâs clear that after this moment their relationship is fully mended, and even if the good olâ Mind VS Heart disagreement is going to last until... well, Here to Help, theyâre now truly able to pick up where they left off, the thing Marco hoped to be able to do at the beginning of the episode, something that is now possible because they both understood their own feelings a little tiny itty bit better. Still a long way to go, but an important and necessary beginning.
If Toffee (from Star vs) had ever fallen in love with any woman (in the only way a twisted villain could), what type of woman do you imagine? For ex, I've read history books on how real-life dictators like Hitler were super charmed by Disney's Snow White (likely for the worst reason based on eugenics).
